DAYS in the late 90s/early 2000s was unwatchable. Especially anything with Kyle Lowder, nature's most confirmed heterosexual.

I think the clip has been removed from YT but the hilarious scene where Brady crashes Maggie's restaurant as Gay Zorro and causes an all-out brawl between himself, John, Roman and half the town says it all about this era. @DRW50 knows of whence I speak.

It was funny in the most ridiculous and humiliating sort of way.  I cannot compare that scene to anything on any serialized drama I have ever beheld.  It was strangely unsettling,

I am bisexual, I don't hide that.....but I promise....if forced to act.....I'd give a more masculine performance than that.  He went around that restaurant like he was frolicking through a field of tulips.  It was very, very, very, very BAD!

And yet, all these years later.....I have realized it may be the best comedic scene to ever hit the air waves.  SNL has nothing on that s.h.i.t!  I belly laugh just thinking about Maggie screaming "LOCK THEM UP!"

You can't find comedy gold anywhere like that.  Such an unintentional classic.  BRAVO TOM LANGAN!!  You outdid yourself, and ruined my show....

    LMAOOOOOOO what???

This made me remember Bonnie giving  Julie the runs......

    Yeah, that happened.....

James Reilly at his best.  My girl Julie  Olson Williams, an undeniable living legend,  had a spastic case of the runs, and it happened on screen.  Jesus, it was terrible.

Meanwhile, Mickey Horton, Salem's most capable lawyer,  stood by dressed like a f.ucking cowboy.  Now ask me why I hate Reilly....

I think Andrew Lloyd Webber should have sued!!

Amy, if he had witnessed that, he would have wrapped a rope around his neck.  I do write some music and poetry, and I am protective over my arrangements, as anyone would be.  It's like giving birth to something.

When Kyle opened his mouth to sing, it was cringe worthy in a very strange way.  He wasn't BAD.  He hit the notes in a delicate way, and seemed to understand when he needed to be subtle, and when he was required to up the ante.

However, his facial expressions and body language made his performances a study in repression.  It was distracting in a strange, terrible, and yet fascinating way.  I don't know how anyone could champion the early 2000's on Days.  Reilly may have ruined the show, but Langan's stuff was unbearable to behold.  Langan made the show a must miss disaster.

The Coronation Massacre.  Need I say more?

EDIT:  THE GARDEN OF EDEN....it would make anyone want to take a bottle full of Lithium.

The only problem was Lily sung that song 12 million times. Martha Byrne was not my favorite Lily (Heather Rattray owned, bitches!), so that was a bit hellish for me.

    You are right, of course.....

But it beat the [!@#$%^&*] I saw on Days.

I have a soft spot in my heart for Holden and Lily.  I loved Martha Byrne, and yet she did annoy me at times.

That said, Holden and Lily have me hooked all these years later.  I loved Josh and Reva, and I adored Harley and Mallet, as well as Cat and David, on GL.  There was something more enriching and meaningful when it came to couples on the P&G soaps.  I loved Days, but that show's couples relied on outside forces to oppose them. P&G soaps allowed internal conflicts to separate fan faves, and that felt more authentic to me.

    You got it!  They did!!!

It scarred me for life.  It was the thing nightmares are made of.

I don't mind musical numbers on soaps, IF someone is on stage singing (Like Liz or Doug....that kind of worked in some instances, but I didn't love it).

When Kyle and Nadia burst into song mid scene, and performed watered down versions of excellent operatic masterpieces, I buried my face in my hands, and prayed for relief.

I did love Martha Byrne singing "I Can't Make you Love Me" when Holden had amnesia on ATWT

I thought Damian was hot (I was 14 and bisexual...don't judge), and never got why she wanted Holden, but when she sang that song it resonated.  I found myself rooting for the underdog!!!

It was soapy and sensual, and it didn't feel forced.  I swear, ATWT was in a class all it's own at times.  That show understood what moments to capitalize on.  When it was great, it was magical.

Didn't his Brady and Chloe also sing Phantom of the Opera songs? I know Kyle and Nadia did at a DAYS fan event eons ago, but I think they did on the show as well.

As Rowlf the Muppet once sang so accurately, "That's the time to stuff cotton in your ears!!" YMMV.

  5. OK....

Anything regarding Kyle Lowder's Brady after Tom Langan took over as head writer.

Brady went skipping around Salem, singing like he was on "The Sound of Music."

Then he dressed as Zorro to torture Marlena!!

I need bleach injected into my cerebellum to cleanse my brain so I can forget it.

Yeah, I know he married Ari Zucker, but that dude pings louder than a Vegas slot machine.

  6. This shocked me, because I knew nothing about it....Not the Thaao part....The Leann part.  I've known for a while that Thaao is taping.  I am meh about him.

Leann Hunley is a legend, so welcome back.  Ron saw her on "Dynasty", so we know he is a fan.  I think we may actually get a Tony and Anna reunion.  I'll piss myself over joy if that happens.

Of course it is not a long term gig, but I'll take OTT Anna for a moment,  and enjoy it.  That character should be a signature role on a soap like "Days of Our Lives'.

Hell, you know it's true....I know you likely know that their relationship is acrimonious.  They should just film BTS S#it!!  It's much more interesting than the show itself!!!!

I say what everyone else already knows....yet I aim to please.

Kate and Billy aren't back long-term. It's not a couple of episodes but it's not contract either ... so they make these big splashy casting announcements yet don't really acknowledge the length or anything. It's a bit misleading ... fans get excited (not really us; lol ... but still) and they're not even sticking around ... but every headline screams like they're "back for good" lol

I can't even keep track. And it's bizarre Ken acts like being 8 months ahead is a good thing. He should have retired decades ago.

You beat me to it.  Think about Sami's returns, and you'll get an idea of what this is like.  High impact, but not long term.

    MY REACTION......

This show is garbage now.  SERIOUSLY!  However, my cold little heart enjoys knowing that this will stir some crap......

Mansi is a workaholic that is so serious that she can't be bothered before she does a scene serving a bagel.

Flynn's arrogance knows no bounds, and he think he is so talented, that no effort is required when it comes to his performance.

God designed these two to torture each other, and they both deserve it.  I have tea all over myself.

    to all of this!

I'm in Florida so not a huge leap from 'Bama ;) Glad to hear it about Huntsville! I've personally never desired to visit Alabama for a number of reasons, but I feel like I've always heard good things about Huntsville.

I have a lot to say on the matter of folks who seem so bothered by who is doing who in their own private bedroom ... but I'm in a pretty good mood today so I'll sip my coffee and check back in a little later :)

I am happier today, and sober (gasp).

Dude, there are good people everywhere....and bad people everywhere....

You just have to search for decent people, and any place can become livable.

I lived In Lakeland, FL for 2 years.  It was a fun place to live....right between Pleasure Island and Ybor City.  I was 20.....,.You get the picture.

    LOL we would!

Bro, I am already wasted!  Comon' if you are close enough!

I live in the Rocket City (Huntsville, Alabama)....A bastion of reason in the cotton states.

I'll admit it, this is a great place to live!!!  I have resided in 14 states, from California to Virginia.  Huntsville is an incredible place to live, shockingly.  I thought I would hate it here.

No one that actually lives here is from this area, Praise the name of Jesus!

    Good for you!!  :)

I wish I could say my sexuality is genetic as well.  AFAIK, however, no one else in my family (on either side) is gay.

Man, it doesn't matter.  You do what you do, and let the haters hate.

It's sad that we have to recognize the fact that people want to enforce their views into a private bedroom in 2019.  They need therapy, and some effective shock treatment.

Why should anyone care about something so private?

I Know Why!!!  I grew up in it!!!

Fanatical religion is a way to control things they do not understand, and they are afraid.

    That's their problem, I'll f#ck who I want to f#ck.

Wow, I'm so sorry for you, DaysFanatic and Amy, and the traumas you've had to face.  God bless you both for surviving and feeling strong enough to share such personal, painful memories with us.  #hugs

Dude, it made me stronger.  I'm fine now.

The funny thing is, when I told my parents I was bisexual, they blamed it on that.  That had NOTHING to do with it.  My great-grandfather left his wife for a man.  It's genetic.

When it comes to my "loving" parents, they spent most of their careers ignoring my pain to get ahead.

Religion isn't the killer, man.  It's greed.

Now I am married to a woman and in an open relationship....she is a lot like me.

It's not conventional, but I give no f#cks about what anyone may think.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I always enjoy your posts as well.

I just would rather that soaps would not do rape stories at all. It just rings of exploitation at worst and a lazy way of writing a plot at best. They don't deal with the long-term ramifications (with a couple of exceptions - SB's Eden and GH's Liz come to mind) and it's a real insult to people who endure it in real life. It's just something I really feel strongly about.

    You are the best!!

I'm going tell my truth,  because I have worked past the shame....

My father was an evangelical minister, and his best friend and associate pastor molested and raped me for two years (from the time I was 8,  till around the time I turned 11).  Even when I came clean when I was 15, my family only cared about keeping the money flowing, so my parents never sought retribution.  They had a "Suck it up" attitude, and that really hurt.  I have had to live with it.

So, I agree with you.  These stories resonate with me, so I don't want a piss poor rendition of a real personal tragedy thrown in my face.  I'm alright now.  It caused me to reject religion and move in a better direction, so it may have saved me from a different sort of pain.  However, I don't want a soap to water down a very real experience and tell me they are doing a service.  It's insulting.
