I'm so glad you like it! I listen to its entirety too. I think the only song that could be considered "deep" or "complex" is 'Clean' - I think that's lyrically the best written song on the album. I also think the lyrics for 'This Love' and 'You Are In Love' are pretty good for love songs. Same here. I did that when the album came out. It was, and still is, the song I listen to the most.

Santa Swift The fans who received the gift packages made this message for her: http://lyyssaaaa13.tumblr.com/post/106028163974/dear-taylor-thank-you-so-much-for-all-of-the It's a big picture, so I'll spoiler tag it. "DEAR TAYLOR THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF THE BEAUTIFUL GIFTS BUT THE BEST GIFT YOU GAVE US IS YOUR BEAUTIFUL FRIENDSHIP ! LOVE FOREVER AND ALWAYS YOUR SANTAS" Taylor Alison Swift- There’s no way we could ever repay you for all of the joy you have given us, but we figured it would be worth a try! You have outdone yourself and gone so above and beyond by reaching out to the 33 of us in such a special way, and we are eternally grateful to you. As a way to try and say thank you, I (lyyssaaaa13) took a few pages out of your playbook and decided to do some heavy “taylurking” and rounded up all the amazing people you sent gifts to (it was exhausting—when do you sleep?!) and we all came together to collectively send you a huge thank you along with tons of hugs! We really hope that this makes you smile, because that is what you have done not only for all of us but for all of your millions of beautiful, wonderful, and loyal fans across the world, by being there for us throughout the years. You are truly an angel and have a heart of gold. Thank you for being our role model, idol, and most of all, our friend. We love you and will stand by you forever. Love, your Santas

#1 in 2014. 3.66 million in 9 weeks. Taylor Swift's '1989' Beats 'Frozen' As Top Selling Album of 2014

You changed your avatar! LOL I'm so happy her singles are doing so well. She was always an albums artist first, and now she's both a singles and albums artist. 1989 has a chance to beat the Frozen Soundtrack for #1 in 2014 - we'll find out Wednesday. And I think it's going to beat her Red and Speak Now albums.

Don't know. I thought it was just a poop emoji. Taylor brought Sam out as a special guest at one of her concerts in February and they sang "Money on My Mind" together.

Yeah, I would probably die. LOL It's hard to get her attention though. I mean there's so many more hardcore fans than I am. A few weeks ago, this one guy on tumblr made a video of himself acting out/singing parts of every song on the album. Taylor saw it and loved it and said they must meet. So last week for the Jingle Ball concert, she flew him and his family (and other fans too) to meet her at the concert. Some people are just lucky. From Taylor's birthday party. Jay Z, Beyonce, Timberlake, and Taylor......the four biggest stars in music right now. Talk about a lot of power in a picture. And apparently Jay Z is a mannequin. LOL

Billboard Woman of the Year Taylor Swift on Writing Her Own Rules, Not Becoming a Cliche and the Hurdle of Going Pop This is going to be one of my favourite interviews of hers. She really shows her savviness and how much in control she has on her own career. It's interviews like this one where I always go, "Wow, she's such an impressive young woman." You can see why she's at the top of the game. My favourite parts:

I did not expect Song of the Year so that is a pleasant surprise! Record of the Year nod was obvious though - I want this award most out of the three nominations because I think it's one of Max Martin's best productions.

MissLPA, I get the feeling you want to know Taylor more. LOL I could post more videos/interviews. I really like that cover. I didn't like much of Vance Joy's album but Riptide is the best song on the album. He's going to be opening for Taylor so at least I'll like one song of his. Couldn't find a high quality video on youtube (I think they're being taken down), so I'll just post gifs. Loved her performance of Blank Space! And it wouldn't be an awards if there weren't shots of her dancing.

Oh, I also say, "Cause we're young and we're restless," instead of "Cause we're young and we're reckless." And now know will too.

I now say "Starbucks lovers" ever since I read about that. I can't get it out my head so I just go with it.

The song is written from the perspective of the character the tabloids have created. This is one of the things Taylor does very well - taking a negative situation and turning it into a massive hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz9wwyLjBb8

I don't think the songs on the deluxe album will be considered for singles. Style and Bad Blood are sure singles. Yup, they have. There's pre-sales and general public sales. http://taylorswift.com/events Shake It Off is all about the music which is why I think will be nominated for Record Of The Year at the Grammys.

Taylor Swift Makes Hot 100 History With 'Blank Space' Very awesome! I hope you're right. So far, so good. And do you know what she's doing now? She's sending out these care packages to fans. She's buying these gifts with people in mind and she's writing these amazingly sweet notes to go along with the gifts. We're calling her Santa Swift. LOL Taylor is truly remarkable and I just love her big heart. How would you define "biggest hit ever"? Hot 100 #1's? Number of weeks on hot 100 or in its top 10? Digital sales? If you go by Hot 100 #1's, Shake It Off just became her biggest hit by hitting #1 four times now (WANEGBT hit #1 three weeks). I think it would pretty cool if she was #1 and #2 next week. 1989 now has the first and second biggest weeks in 2014. It sold 402,000 in its second week.

That's definitely her best video. Glad to see her working with Joseph Khan now. Kudos to Taylor for the concept - it was fun and funny. And of course she looks great in the video! She's never had two songs on an album go #1, so hopefully this song will do that for her. What Blank Space is about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz9wwyLjBb8

Ungrateful about what? What is Spotify doing for her and other artists who don't want their music on Spotify? The royalties payout is embarassing. Spotify should have a better model if they want those artists' content. They don't owe Spotify anything. For her or any other artist to be ungrateful, Spotify would have to be doing something in favour of them.

She sold more at Target alone than Coldplay did everywhere. 474,000 to 383,000. Chart from The Roadmap to Taylor Swift's Record-Breaking Week in 6 (Not So Easy) Steps Another cool stat: http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2014/11/04/taylor-swift-first-week-million-sales/18480613/

Bringing the discussion over from Taylor's thread. I wonder how well her next album will do in sales. Those "21" numbers (30 million worlwide, 11 million in US) is a once and a lifetime thing (especially now) and I don't think it will be duplicated again. I think getting half will be a considered a major success.

The Taylor Swift Thread
I hope so! I wonder that too and that's the next album I'm eagerly anticipating....not because of her music but because of sales charts. I don't remember if Adele has had any 1 million first week sales though. Both her albums did well over time.

Granted, Taylor didn't break Britney's record, but I'm glad your assessment was wrong. To have three straight 1 million sales in the first week in this day and age is truly remarkable. Taylor Swift fans aren't "country music fans" or "pop fans," we're fans of her music, period. And we have proven that over the span of her career. You're able to accomplish all of this when you establish a great and deeply rooted relationship with your fans over years and years, and if you care about the craft you make. Taylor works very hard for her success because she knows it can all disappear very quickly. She said this quote on The Voice, "If you're coasting, you're backsliding." Lastly, we love her music and we love her as a person - I think that also plays a large part in her sucess.
