@Contessa Donatella We have someone here posting the episode counts. You don't need to post the twitter screencap.

Well, we'll see in a month or two how the writing staff is assembled. Patrick has not been yet credited as a SW. Today was his first credit, as a BDW, for a specific episode.

I don't know. We always complain that daytime needs new blood instead of recycling the same old writers over and over and over. I just thought it was very fresh of GH to do something that other soaps weren't doing. Oh well.
I would prefer Patrick to write scripts. Maybe we'll get that one day as well.

Wow, another newbie to daytime out. I thought GH was doing a great job in hiring people who never worked in daytime, all of them female too. I fear Emily Culliton could be next - female and new to daytime. Lucky Gold has been writing soaps since at least the early 80's and will turn 74 in September.......time to retire??....just saying, you know. LOL I really wonder now if they're cutting down the number of BDWs to 2 or 3. What has Josh Griffith started? (possibly)

GH:
- Patrick Mulcahey first listed as Breakdown Writer on March 29
Very surprised he was credited as a BDW! When I saw his name credited alone, I got a bit excited (LOL) because thought he wrote the script, but then Kate Hall's name was shown next. Hopefully this means the credits will continue to credit Korte/Mulcahey whenever they write breakdowns.

On her IG account yesterday Shannon Peace indicated a post would be coming soon about how breakdown writers also wrote dialogue at GH. I did not screengrab it but I thought I would watch for the upcoming one & grab it.
Breakdowns can have lines of dialogue. The script writer can choose to keep it or change it up a bit.
@janea4old As @titan1978 mentioned, a "writers room" doesn't have to be a psychical room - they can do a conference call. And yes, a "writers room" is usually just the Head Writers and breakdown writers. They go over the layouts for the week, and talk about scenes, and breakdown writers can make suggestions, like the example Shannon Peace provided.

@janea4old Script writers aren’t in the writers room, that’s why Shannon said she was the only POC writer in the room.

Possible that EK/PM plan to eliminate one breakdown role (or two) and write some themselves. When PM was on a HW-ing team with Curlee and Demorest at GL, occasionally they’d all take turns in writing some breakdowns.
That could be it. Until last year, Dan and Chris would write, on average, 2 breakdowns each a month and the show had 4 BDWs. Then in 2023, GH went to 5 BDWs while D&C only wrote 6 breakdown episodes. We'll know in a month or two once we get more data.

What if Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahey are about to pull a Josh Griffith and handle all the breakdown/outline-writing duties themselves?
Josh has Beall and Beldner to help with the outlines. You'll need at least a couple of writers to help you out because it's just too much work, especially if Korte is still the script editor. Maybe GH isn't replacing Peace, maybe they're just trimming down the breakdown team, which it seems like all the soaps are doing now as a cost cutting measure.

What I heard was that it happened right after Dan & Chris were notified of their firing with the strong implication that it had to do with New Team & nothing at all to do with the strike. So, timing, they got back from the strike, wasn't it in Sept? And, the D&C happened the week of Jan. 15th.
Donna, you've been posting about soaps since at last the 90's on those old newsgroups and you have not ever been considered an "insider" anywhere, so please chill with the "what I heard stuff" because you don't have any credibility when it comes to insider info.

So another writer fired once their cycle is up after coming back from the strike? Probably to make way for someone who wrote during the strike? We'll see.

Charlotte Gibson
And her name seems new to me. I asked someone at GH who usually knows & he also thought she's a new name. But, he wasn't sure. Seems like things there are ... well, he's indicated a whole lot of stuff going on. I imagine that is par for the course with a regime change such as this. D&C were in place for a long time. @Toups can you confirm?
No offense but I don't think "your source" knows much if he didn't know Charlotte's been with the show since 2016, so definitely not "new."

@dc11786 I have the June 5, 1992 credits and O'Neill and Tobin are still listed and then I have June 30, 1992 with Thoma/Levinson credited, so that's why I have 1992-June 1992 for No Head Writers.

Thanks! So Grover was like co-HW for about a month? Do you remember why? And I'm assuming the months you put are for on air dates? Which means GH went with no official HW from March to June 1992? Looking at all the regime changes, early 90's GH was a mess. LOL

I don't recall their being announced as HW's, but that was such a messy time backstage for GH, lol.
And I've never seen anyone talking about them as HWs, so I'm thinking there was no HW between Norma Monty and Thoma/Levinson, but I don't know for sure.

Were Gene O'Neill & Noreen Tobin ever announced as HWs in 1992? This is how the GH credits were, but there were no spaces.

Its gotten better but I still miss the old RC Cates scores. The current music sounds like a bunch of pots and pans getting played with and doesn’t work well with the scenes being longer again
That's the OLTL style, at least when I started watching it in 1998. I guess I'm in the minority but I like it. LOL To me, before Valentini started, GH's music and music direction have never been its strong suit....not that it sucked it or anything. It was good enough. There are cues that I really liked (the Sonny/Brenda theme for example), but I never put GH in my top rankings - it never wow'd me. It was always Y&R (pre JFP), 80's and Reilly's DAYS eras, OLTL, B&B. Right now, out of the 4, B&B and GH are my favourites.

I was watching Grey's Anatomy earlier this week and there was a patient who occasionally had freakouts and temporary memory loss due to cobalt poisoning from fragments of bullets from a shooting that happened a long time ago. What a coincidence I'm now seeing this cobalt poisoning again. I've always liked Ally Mills as Heather and hope Korte/Mulcahey won't write her off.
Portia was in 4 of the first 5 scenes today. I thought that was an interesting way to say "hey, new writers at work!" LOL
I also noticed ever since Jason came back, there's been new background music.

Not surprised. May be that. But I think I'll just ask Ryan if that is his interpretation, which is what I suspect it is.
Yeah, Kate doesn't write breakdowns. Korte or Mulcahey wrote Friday's breakdown. There was no script editor listed, so maybe Korte will continue in that role until they decide on a new one.

As of today's episode, Korte is credited solo behind O'Connor & Van Etten, and Stacey Pulwer also receives solo credit. Normally, Korte & Pulwer share credit together. We're almost there, folks!
That just means she wrote the episode breakdown which she does once in a while.

Yay Emma!! Yay Chris Nolan! Those are the only two Oscar wins I was hoping for.
Al Pacino was awful. WTF was that. LOL.
Ryan Gosling's performance was so good. Probably one of the all time best at the Oscars. Love Greta's reaction.

It should happen after Hope sleeps with Steffy's husband. You know it's definitely going to happen now.
