Do they give new writers access to classic episodes so they can actually learn the history of the characters and the show?

Imagine some dumb new writer coming in and writing a line where Laura says Luke was her first husband. That’s the kind of worry I have with outsiders.

That's why you have a script editor, and HWs are also known to check up on scripts.  There's also writers' assistant where you can ask them to go look up information if they have questions. LOL. And to be fair, you can still be a new writer and not know the shows history too well.   You write scripts off breakdowns.  You write breakdowns from whatever the HW gives you.

  2. Holy sh!t!!! She did it!!  I really did not expect the Grammy voters to give Taylor her 4th album of the year, and therefore the most ever by an artist, so soon after winning her 3rd just 3 years ago.  I thought they'd make her wait.  But I'll take it.  So happy for her.  And not only that.....but there's a new album coming out on April 19!!  Holy sh!t again! LOL I can't believe we're getting a new album in the middle of a tour.  Taylor is a workaholic.  Her work ethic is impeccable.  She keeps feeding us.  Us fans are so lucky.  What a memorable night.  So proud of Taylor.  AHHHH

  3. Aw damn.  She was favourite out of her age group.  Esme was the most interesting and most fun when she was scheming.  Every show needs a schemer like her, someone who drives the story forward.  I had hope that Patrick Mulchaey would get the opportunity to write for her and Heather because he's very good at writing parent/son/daughter scenes. I think he would've liked the Heather/Esme dynamic, or at least he would've improved that dynamic.  Pohl/Chavez were so good together - they definitely brought out the best in each other.  I guess it's fitting they left together.  She was also really good with Lindstrom and Mills.

I must say she’s completely overexposed right now, even in our fragmented media environment (although nothing get closer to monoculture in the U.S. than the NFL and politics, and she’s omnipresent in both at the moment). Hopefully she (and we) will get a break after the Super Bowl.

It depends on what you want.  LOL. As a fan, I want her to announce reputationTV in February, so you're going to be hearing about that.  Then during the actual release of the album, there's going to be more talk.  Then we got the last re-release, her debut album, probably coming in late 2024.  So the talk about Taylor isn't really going to die down in 2024.  But the thing is, you probably won't hear her speak - she's not going to be doing interviews or talk shows.  So the focus on her is going to be from other forces.  The "other forces" know Taylor moves the needle, she brings in money, she brings in clicks....everyone wants to use her for that.  That's not going to disappear anytime soon.  And then if we factor in the election, there's going to be more freak outs by the right-wing media when she will for sure tweet on National Voter Registration Day in September.  So if you want a break from Taylor, it will be in 2025......unless she decides to do a second leg in the US, which is my prediction.  LOL.

I don't follow anything NFL either, but I still end up hearing and seeing too much about it.

It seems silly to us, but many eat this up, especially due to his ties to Pfizer.

Just wondering, where are you seeing/hearing her that makes you think it's too much?  I know where I see her, as a fan, so I'm just curious where non-fans see her content.

  6. Rolling Stone Magazine: Trump Allies Pledge ‘Holy War’ Against Taylor Swift

I know Taylor has her own security team but stuff like this scares me because those MAGA idiots are insane.  Right-wing media continues to mention her more and more and I could see someone doing something really dangerous.  In 2020 when she came out and blasted Trump, there wasn't that much focus on her by right wing media.  I understand why there's more focus on her now - she is the biggest star in the world - and the right wing are afraid of that.

I miss seeing Jen Psaki.  I forgot she has a show on MSNBC.

  7. There's usually one or two surprise nominations and America Ferrera was it this year.  A bit disappointed about Margot but she was never going to win.  As a big Christopher Nolan, I hope he wins Best Director.  I know he's the favourite, but you never know.  Will feel more comfortable if he wins the DGA.  So according to these nominations, it's a three horse race for Best Picture: Oppenheimer, Anatomy of a Fall, and Poor Things.

Is the current GH writing team still primarily composed of Carlivati's OLTL team, or have most of those followed him to DOOL?  I can't remember the OLTL names at this point, but Korte's name was the only one I recognized from GH BITD the week of Bobbie's death.

There's not that many writers from Carlivati's OLTL on GH - just Scott Sickles and Suzanne Flynn.  There's been quite a few daytime newcomers on the staff - Ashley D. Cook, Emily Culliton, Shannon Peace, Cathy Lepard, Stacey Pulwer.   As writers retire, it's nice to see new writers be given a shot.  GH does this better than the other soaps.

  9. I too would love to see MVJ back at GH.  But she would have to choose between job security at B&B over possibly just a short term stint back at GH (because we truly don't know how long this Mulcahey/Korte regime will last).   Do you like knowing you'll have a job for many years to come, but writing dialogue for crappy stories, or do you want to write scripts for better stories but you might not have that job for long.  LOL

And yeah, it will be interesting to see if Mulcahey and Korte will be allowed to bring in some of their people as part of their staff.

Toups was he at BOLD recently? I Know people are saying he wrote the Avant's on BOLD

He's good but Korte isn't. HOPEFULLY, MAYBE? they can balance each other out

I don't know what story ideas he came up at B&B when he was storyline consultant.  But I do know he is arguably the best script writer in daytime history.....and I know script writing is much different than head writing.  As for Korte, she was Co-HW 20 years ago, so I think it's fair to give her a chance. Plus, remember, JFP was the EP so maybe give Korte a bit of slack?  LOL

OK, now they have my attention. Patrick Mulcahey is a great get. At least the scripts will be better.

I'm excited for better scripts as well.  You just know Patrick will be re-writing/polishing some scripts.  Patrick is really good at writing family scenes, the dynamics of a family.  I hope he rebuilds the Cassadine family (Nikolas is gone, and Spencer will probably be gone) because he wrote for them so well.

  11. Wow! Patrick Mulcahey is back at GH and gets a shot a writing storylines instead of scripts (I wouldn't be shocked if he occasionally writes scripts).   My guess is this is ABC making the move because I don't see Frank coming up with the decision to fire Dan & Chris.

I'm a bit sad to see Dan & Chris go because I've enjoyed the majority of their work and they've been the best HWs in daytime these last 4 years or however long they've been HWs of GH.  I'm also going to guess they're probably going to stick around as breakdown writers.

In any case I'm excited to see what Mulcahey and Korte do.
