  1. I just don't get why intrigue/business/etc scores are not selected. But B&B was my second most-wanted soundtrack release... now, if only they do Y&R and put the really good stuff on it. Now THAT would be great.

Share your feeling but have a look at my previous.

BTW, if you don't have the Y&R soundrack yet, check eBay... The compilation is a tad too swoonsome for my taste but it opens beuatifully with Nadia's theme and closes with the long closing titles...

  2. I'm just stunned they actually did this. I guess enough people requested a collection of themes or scores or they at least saw enough interest from hardcore fans to do it (given that DAYS just recently did one through LaLaLand Records). I hope they do another one with some of their other cues, their more dramatic/suspenseful stuff.

I doubt they do one with the drama scores, GH and Y&R both excluded them as well when they released they soundtracks in the 90s. My guess is that the target group is woman (once again) and they think they'll only be interested in the romance department. Maybe if sales are ok (an ITunes release must be dirt cheap so each sale should mean $$$ for the show), we'll get another one.

Ah, c'mon: that Rick & Steffy theme has such a nice rhytm. It's not artistic in any way but has i's appeal. I wanted to convert that Jackie M-theme as my ringtune but ITunes totally cut my plans. I always get some error message - and yet Apple is always considered superior. Whatever. (I still love my IPhone though)

  3. Bought it - actually the first time that I bought anything from ITunes - and love it.

It's worth the money, they really produced long scores and not just those short snippets like on Y&R's soundtrack (which is still good). Each track is about 3 minutes and makes great listening, I particularly like the modern scores for Jackie and the Rick&Steffy theme. They are just sooooo raunchy. LOL!

However, they left out the Ridge&Caroline theme (the Ridge & Taylor one as well) which is downright criminal because it is one of their best scores. I was also surprised the title theme is NOT on this recording but maybe it was not composed by Allocco & Kurth alone?

  4. I do not know if has been brought up, but Sandra Ferguson was Brooke on B&B, a temp brooke but almost perm because KKL was in contract talks and on mat leave.

    WOW - never knew that.

Funny thing is, a recast could have actually worked since the show was sooooo Brooke-centric back in 1997.

That said, Ferguson was ok as Brooke (they reduced Brooke'S screentime and it lasted only three months or so) but she seemed rather insecure as a mother to Rick and Bridget. As if Sandra Ferguson were firghtened of the child actors. LOL

  5. Do any seens with KMK as Dru excists?

Sure but probably not on YouTube.

Kent King wasn't too memorable and truly was a "temp": therefore she never stepped in as Dru. She played her for a max of 5 episodes but not even in a row; basically once a month in summer 2000 they couldn't get Rowell into the studio (for whatever reason) and apparently Kent KIng was on stand-by hoping to get a role on Y&R and so she stepped in. LOL

  6. I was never able to get into her albums, but the songs from ANY Ally McBeal soundtrack were almost always great, IMO.

Her first two album from the late 80s/early 90s were very Madonna-ish and atypical when you listen to her later albums.

VONDA SHEPARD and RADICAL LIGHT feauture some awesome pop scores, produced by none less than James Newton Howard. Then with ALly McBeal she switched to melodrama (It's good Eve) which she then spiced up with some country which actually was great (BY 7.30). But her last two albums post-ALly McBeal have been rather lacklustre. There's always 1 or 2 great songs on it but no new vision and more of the old. She should stop colloborating with her husband who's been producing these...

That said, Vonda in concert is pure joy. It's always extremely intimate and a wonderfully mixed crowd.

  7. Totally random and OT...

Yet you can go to Justin Timberlake fashion show! :P

LOL, thing is you get access to these for free; and I didn't make it to William Rest BTW because my best friend's best friend who's working for a label coulnd't attend due to preparations for her own show. As a fan of Vogue et al., Sylph - have you ever seen pics of their (fashion) editors? I guess it's an unwritten rule to be dressed as unfashionable as possible in order thumbs up or down someone. Unbelievable.

Anyway, another song I like these days

    Lady Gaga - LoveGame

  8. "Ecstatic" by Vonda Shepard

Just bought her "new" (well - it's 12 months old now, I guess, but legally purchasing one recording album per year is the highest standard I can put myself up to these days LOL!) "From the Sun" album which is so-so but the this song along "Downtown/Dirty Town" is great.

  9. One of my favorite moments was in the final episode where Peter & Amanda fake their death, then we see that they're on a beach somewhere getting married

Oh and the cheesy music! "Closing time..."

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it - the final episode was a blast. Typically MP-sytle of campiness, yet they tried some happy ending stuff. The result was unique. Surprisingly teh writers got no Emmy nomination. :P

  10. India.Arie's version is from 2006, but the original song is by Don Henley from 1989.

I know. I found the Hensley version (which is slower and more folk style, IMO) at places which shall not be named much easier than I did with Inda Arie's version.

@ Ron: Thanks for your comments!

  11. India Arie...Heart of the matter

I love this song too. If it weren't for Brothers&Sisters I probably never would have discovered it...

Question: Is this ROCKFERRY album by DUFFY any good? I have a love and hate relation to her single "Mercy" but right now it's addictive to me and love status. So is the album worth buying?

  12. I liked Jamie, too! :D And MP – wow how trashy it was and how much I loved it then... :P

Never forget it was Michael Patrick King who brought the show to its now unachievable heights. Yes, Darren was a producer all the way til the end, but it was Michael who had the vision and transformed the show. Just compare Darren's and Michael's seasons and you'll see the difference.

I cannot wait for the film...

Yeah, Jamie Luner rocked. She got to play the new tramp in town - succeding to Miss Hot Lips, Lisa Rinna - and boy, she did.

MP was ultra trashy but just so delicious. I discovered it much too late - for being a La Locklear groupie at least - and still miss it.

My favorite MP: Taylor forcing Michael to impregnate her. Both times. Or was it more often? This was one of the most campy side-stories MP ever told - and they had a lot. LOL

As for SatC: Well put: Darren's episodes were so blah compared with everything that followed. I was looking forward to the movie but the first preview kinda blew it. Hopefully the film is much better than those 45 seconds...

  13. Flamingo Road

A true camp classic from 1981 starring Morgan Fairchild as a rich resident bitch down in Florida and youuuuuung Mark Harmon as her hubby who's soon looking for greener pastures.

Also starring David Selby, Howard Duff and John Beck.

  14. Hmm. I'd never read the book but I really enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada.

This film was indeed great. Loved it.

Recently saw "Cold Mountain" which after a very lackluster start got me too. (Director Anthony Minghella always does) Rene Zellweger was fabulous and made the flick unique with her hearty and powerful performance.

  15. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

    wp_800x6001.jpg

Probably no one has ever heard of it, so that it's my honor to introduce it. Although due to some nakedness this film is unlikely to find it's way to US theatres, according to IMDB.com it does have a release on December 27 - thanks to Dreamworks.

If you do not want to wait, you know where to go on the web... ;)

So what am I bubbling about? An excellent film after a bestselling German novel of the same name.

18th century France: Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, born with no smell, develops a superior olfactory sense, which he uses to create the world's finest perfumes. His work, however, takes a dark turn as he searches for the ultimate scent.

Starring Ben Whishaw as Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, Dustin Hoffman as Guiseppe Baldini and Alan Rickman

Forget Ron Howard's fucked-up DaVinci-Code and get ready for a real adaptation (take a look Mr. Howard) of a fascinating book.

Great script, great directing, great music, brilliant cast - the most expensive European film ever.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a better trailer right now but the film is worth watching - even for the let's say bizarre ending.

  16. Caught some movies recnetly...

"Spy Game" - Great CIA scheming scenes (Larry Briggman from ATWT!? I had no idea he starred in the movies?) but too many flashbacks. Actually all the action were flashbacks. Hated this and therefore couldn't completely enjoy the flick. Not too bad though.

"Murder By Numbers": Now, that was a good film. Just two devilish student plotting a perfect murder. Was nice to see Agnes Bruckner (Ex-Bridget B&B) in her first big movie role but Sandy Bullock was slightly off. I didn't like her att all in this movie.
