  1. Thanks for the articles. I have to say I never had a problem with Lauralee Bell. I was never a huge fan of Cricket. Mostly because I thought Danny was such a cheesefest of a character.

Seeing the Colonnade Room reminds me of Nikki's tantrum around Victor's birthday with Diane. Fun times. Is it still shown on the show?

Michael & Lauren's wedding in Dec 2005 was probably the last big budget event - and the last time we saw it.

  2. ugghhh....didn't mean to double post...., how do you delete your posts? sorry for sounding dumb....sad.png

DOn't think you can delete your own posts; you can just edit them blank and make a "please de,eye" comment and maybe a mod will help out...

  3. Anyone have the exact or a ca. airdate for William J. Bell's head writing tenure ending?

I think he was last credited in July 1998 but the episodes I have access to from around this time have no closing credits... Is there anything on YouTube or does anyone know???

I'd assume the promotion of Jim Houghton and Natalie Minardi othe writing staff happened at the same time. Again, I'm looking for an exact airdate or at least their earliest July or August 1998 airdate someone can verify.

    :-)

  4. Thanks.

Looks like the channel that put up 87-92 episodes is gone.

It cannot be repeated enough: save those vids while you can! It is really easy to download stuff from YouTube - do it, folks!

We aren't always that lucky like with you, Y&Rfan23, that you take the time and effort to reupload stuff. It is downright criminal what great episodes/scenes CBS has killed on YouTube… Just think about formicida (?) - the Sheila channel. Deleted TWICE, everything gone. :(

  5. After reading that article, I wonder why they never mention or brought back Christine's/aka Cricket's cousin Joe Blair. It looks like he would have shown up over the years for weddings etc....

He was just the Jabot dayplayer photographer and already replaced in1986/1987 with the dude (Skip?) who later married Jabot secretary Carol. There was no real attempt to build up any family relationship between Joe and Cricket.

  6. Why was Jack watching dayplayer in the lab?

Wondered the same thing but I assume it has to with Ashley and Marc Mergeron (? - or was his name Eric?); guess JAck wants to break them up with the lab guy. Correct?

  7. Jess, well I think she is a far better actor then Brenda was even in her first run, but Dickson was Jill. They definitely changed the character after Jess came on. It is only Jess' acting that I prefer, but the writing of the character and Brenda's interpretation were better to me.

This gets said a lot and as I started watching Y&R with 1986 episodes it is definitely true that the character changed a lot as Dickson was playing a campy Jill to the hills at this time, yet with every 70s episode of Y&R you can see that her history was very different. And DIckson played it very different. And even in her last few months when Jill Foster Abbott got into business mode at Jabot with the men's line you could see dfifferent shades in her acting choices which Jess Walton continued.

  8. A while back when the 1974 Y&R episode was posted there were several people asking who was the actress who played Katherine's maid Teresa.

Today I was watching a 1970 episode of Adam-12 and she popped up. Her name is Ann Morrison. IMDB lists she died in 1978. In the A-12 episode she played a woman who's house is broken into. It turns out it was a member of her bridge groups son. The son was played by Butch Patrick and his mother was played by GH's Norma Connolly who had a theft raquet going to keep up her ritzy lifefestyle. Also according to IMDB Ann played a character named Mrs. Nelson on GH in 1971.

    Thanks for sharing this!

  9. I'm also upset because SOS uploaded full episodes, instead of clips.

She/He didn't upload full episodes until recently - at least for Y&R. Seems this was the death sentence when SOS did it… What a shame!

But I'm sure he/she will return. That channel was deleted once before under a different name...

  10. A news break during the 6th segment cuts out at least 15 minutes towards the end of this episode.......This is also my last 1989 episode for right now in my collection, so soon I will upload all of 1990 that I...... have Old and new!

Looking forward to it a lot! :)

  11. I just noticed that part 3 of my1994 Primetime ep says it may be blocked in Germany due to music. If anyone is having an issue let me know and I'll mute it.

It's a music rights issue, not YouTube's fault for once but because of the collector's fund for musicians in Germany... With "hotspot shield" it works though. Please don't mute it...

  12. I love the way you're uploading them now. I learned my lesson, I'm going to save them! Wonder why some videos get removed while others don't.

    +1

Thanks a million for reuploading. I also saved 90% of the episodes you posted before and will make sure now to get full library... smile.png

I feel really blessed that you guys - BoldRestless included - take time and effort to bring these gems to a wider audience on this board.

  13. Well, soapdope, your wish has come true! This episode is amazing. Taped January 21, 1974, this is the very first time Jill sets foot in the Chancellor mansion. And we have John considine as Phillip!! This eppy should make for some good discussion.

We were discussing the original airdate of this gem a while back. Well, according to an insightful article posted in this thread on page 4, the episodes usually aired a mere TWO DAYS after they were taped... Interesting!

  14. I can't believe how slutty Nikki came off while flirting with Cole! I don't know much of Cole's history, but he was her daughter's dream husband! There's something that I wanted to ask you guys - I've seen clips of Cole & Victoria dating back to 1993 and others dating back to 1998 (the two of them were in a triangle with Shari Shattuck's Ashley, I think). Does it mean Vicky and Cole were an item for that long? Where did Ryan fit in all of this? From the flashbacks I saw in 2000, I thought Ryan was Vicky's longtime/endgame love... Can someone fill me in on the timeline?

I'm really sketchy on the details but the main issue with Ryan and Vickie for most of the 90s was his involvement with Nina - and LITTLE PHILLIP who later became "Chance". If recall correctly evertime either Vickie or Ryan were facing marital issues, the other clinged on to his/her respective partner...

The quadrangle lasted from 1994-1996 I'd say. This turned really weird when Nina ca. 1995 became Cole's research assistant (that's how she later became a writer) and through a mystery letter - where it was NEVER resolved who wrote it (it made no sense but was GREAT drama) - set a four-way-date at the Colonnade Room.

The Cole/Victoria relationship lasted that long that I wouldn't say Ryan/Vickie were the ultimate endgame. It was moreso her first true love and after Cole was gone in 1999, of course they could only show her affection for Ryan.

  15. Thank you so much BoldRestless and YRFan23 for continuing with the episodes.

    This cannot be stressed enough.

Thank you so much for sharing these episodes!!! :)

Before I will comment on anything in the primetime special, I just wondered whether there is a list of the 4 (?) of them out there, meaning when they are aired etc.???

Did they count as regular episodes numberwise or did they air in addition to the regular afternoon show and hence got no episode number? I know thats how DAYS did it. I don't know about CBS though as they sometimes aired some specials (Soapbreak or sth. like that?) during the daytime hours.

Anyone able to shed some light on this?

  16. What makes the whole thing even more mind-boggling is that Alden and Scott have now worked together again at B&B for years. But I guess Brad calls the shots there, so they don't need to struggle for power LOL

Technically they haven't worked together on B&B. Both have (in Alden's case had) lower-ranking positon than they had on Y&R. Ed Scott is hadnling the day-to-day taping business and overseeing remotes etc whereas Alden was co-head writer underneath Brad AND Michael Minnis and mostly pulling script-editing duties. And on B&B only Brad calls the shots: he's the writer, he's producer, it's his company who owns the show, so...

  17. I think 1998 was generally strong, but by 2000 there was definitely something off about the show. It wasn't the same show, if that makes sense.

I agree in parts. The show kinda felt uneven as soon as Trent Jones got promoted and worked as Alden's co-head writer by Fall 2000... 1998-summer 2000 was VERY strong and definitely lightyears ahead of 1996-1998 when Bill was still solo-writing, IMO.

  18. What is the outdoor restaurant called? The one that doubles as the Forrester gym. I don't think anyone in L.A. eats out at night anymore.

    Il Giardino

The shelf with the plates - which they always put up - is actually recycled from that Mexican restaurant set I was talking earlier about BTW.

B&B has always done a great job at recycling sets. The first production designer Sy Tomashoff really learned his craft at Dark Shadows to make great looking sets, yet operate on a tight budget and hence reuse as much as possible.
