Considering how nasty Luke and Bobbie's childhoods and teen years were it's totally believable that she would be obsessed with power. I wouldn't want to see that explored through the sham marriage to Stefan though. Matter of fact now that I think about it an argument could be made the Spencers obsess over power just as much as the Cassadines but Spencers aren't as bougie about it. Thank you for giving Stefan and Katherine their just dues as a couple. The show should've kept that going. The show didn't write themselves into a corner like they thought when it comes to Katherine's amnesia and Helena being her overlord. There was a way to fix that instead of killing her.

How General Hospital has been around so long with all those nurses, doctors, and cops yet no firefighters is so strange to me. The PC Fire Department is one of the biggest missed opportunities for that entire soap opera I swear. Especially back when they were doing those large scale disaster storylines in the 2000s, at least 3 separate firefighter characters could've been a part of the show. And if they needed an already established character to be one Mac or Lucky could've been. Also the EMT aspect could work if they had one of the doctors decide to do it to switch their routine and take that position at the firehouse. I could see Emily pulling that mess and Nikolas stressing over precious Quartermaine princess being "out in the field".

Agree with the hospital and police station stuff. I enjoy it. But should the ChelseaKat rival be black or not black? And should the rival be someone who makes unique designs or should they be a rival that dupes/copies ChelseaKat? The subtext of that rivalry could change depending on those two things.

For some reason the Beyond the Gates cast insists on using TikTok and I don't get why. TikTok is largely responsible for young people having no attention span. Soap operas are a genre where people have to actually pay attention. As for the use of other platforms I agree with you though. Especially about Youtube. I have also noticed that soap opera photoshoots are terrible. All soap operas need to invest in better photo shoots honestly. Or hire a graphic designer to make moodboards for specific characters. I don't know. Something.

Well I'm gonna go ahead and pop in to this thread to say hi I guess. I got interested in Days of Our Lives because I started looking up the OG 80s squad (Roman, John, Marlena, Hope, Bo, Steve, Kayla) then got into the 90s squad (Sami, Lucas, Lisa Rinna's Billie, Lauren Koslow's Kate, Robert Kelker Kelly's Bo, Carly). I have seen the Camila Banus Gabi, Billy Flynn's Chad, and Kate Mansi's Abby. I wish I could see more of them but you know....copyright. Since I have been peeking around this thread the way people describe the new generation makes me shake my head. Damn these writers.

So I will go ahead and bring up the 2010 storyline that I want to mention: Kristina being abused by Keifer and all of the stuff that came after that with Ethan and Johnny Z. I think it was a solid storyline but people hate on it just because they hate Sonny and are mad at how many children he has. Sonny ain't my favorite either. However that doesn't change how dope that storyline was. Spoke on a sensitive topic and made two friendships for Kristina. Kristina's friendship with Ethan had potential to evolve into a "forbidden love" supercouple once she got to legal age. And her friendship with Johnny Z could've stood on it's own even when she decided to stop pissing off Sonny on purpose.

I agree with this. The Spencer vs Cassadine or Spencer/Webber vs Cassadine dynamics has always been great for GH. One of the biggest reasons why the show is so dreary now is because Spencers don't act like Spencers, Cassadines don't act like Cassadines, Webbers don't act like Webbers, and none of them feud with each other anymore.

Since this is the classic thread, how recent can be considered classic? Because I got a specific opinion about a 2010 storyline.

I'm a wrestling fan too. By the way Brandon Claybon is a WWE fan. Honestly Ted was being too nice. He should've said way worse to Bill especially. Bill cheated on Dani with multiple women and probably did so multiple times with the same women. So Bill probably has a baby mama or two and a kid or two outside of his marriage to Dani. Those baby mamas and kids simply haven't popped out on Bill yet.

I love watching black folks bond over different things. That was one of the realest lines Keith's version of Ted ever uttered.

You know what you right. I had mentioned in a different thread that Beyond the Gates needs a rival family. So Green/Thomas family would check both of those boxes. I agree with all of this. I also want to add Trisha Grant and Ambyr Michelle as actresses that have definitely been handling business.

I would be up for a villainous Green/Thomas family unit. I giggled reading this.

From what little we know about Dante and Barbara it makes sense that Leslie's sociopathic personality comes from Dante.

Tamara actually said that one of the annoying things about being the token black character is that they were always presented as morally good because the networks wanted to avoid accusations of racism. Tamara seems to enjoy playing someone like Anita who certainly has some not so nice sides to her. Fast forward to 56:00 in this interview and you will hear her say that.

To me it seems more like bad woman vs bad girl. Well okay let me put it this way: Erica Kane but without the struggle.

I hate to be "that person" but the way the scriptwriting is set up, it seems that Dani is the one that's supposed to be the Erica Kane type of the show.

🤣 Yep that's exactly all the stuff she bought with that "loan". So far this show is doing well. The only critique I have besides the lack of a rival family for the Duprees, I want to see more of the gambling storyline. I'm also curious about the biracial kids that Doug and Vanessa have together. I can only imagine how weird it's gonna be when those kids come back home to see how fake the marriage between Doug and Vanessa has become. Or even worse if they find out about Vanessa and Joey.

I know soap operas are over the top but this toned down version of the scene was so great.

I love Eva and Leslie but overall the multiple episodes without them were still solid. This is how I know this show is good. White characters like Pam, Vanessa, and Joey are awesome and they have proven they can hang with the other black characters. Derek and Ashley still suck and need to go. I hope that Caroline can get more scenes because that asian actress has a good line delivery.

A black family having a white maid would be a good subversion of stereotypes. Also want to say that while the overall show has many flaws, the biggest one that's legitimately stifling is the lack of a rival family.
