  1. The look and feel of those clips aside, I believe A.I. is antithetical to the soap opera genre, and to creative work as a whole. Soaps often aim to reflect our experiences and delve into the societal issues we face each decade. They were revolutionary in many ways for this. To completely remove the human element in favor of a robot's approximation of emotion is so very wrong. Not to mention unethical to writers, actors, and artists whose hard work and likenesses have been used to train A.I. models with zero consent or compensation. (And there is also the vast environmental impact). I know budget is a factor here, but soap operas have managed with those same concerns since they were invented. I don't believe A.I. is the solution. They would cheapen soaps not for the better, but for the worse. As mentioned, an actor's unique contribution to their role is irreplaceable. A robot can simply never do it. I return to my favorite soaps because the actors do such a fabulous job, whether intentionally with their deliberate choices, or unintentionally with their natural, subconscious inflections that bleed through to their character and make them all the more interesting. That's the beauty of the human element. (Just one of many examples, of course!). If productions incorporate A.I. into their shows, I hope it's as short-lived as possible, as A.I. perhaps loses interest while we all continue to learn more about it, or when it becomes more regulated. I'm a newer soap opera fan (approx. five or six years), and I draw fan art every week of my favorite characters and jot down ideas for alternate plotlines. I take inspiration from my favorite storylines and have gone on to create my own characters and worlds. We're all using this site, so I'd like to believe there are still decent-sized fanbases, all with creative minds buzzing. My point being: We should focus more on uplifting eachothers' abilities rather than encourage a robot to do the creative work for us. I don't often see fanworks, but would love to find wherever they get shared. :) I hope this post doesn't sound aggressive. I know tone can get a bit lost in text. I'm just passionate about this topic! <3
  2. Does anyone have the 1982 Christmas/Eve episode? I think it used to be on the internet at some point because I have this image of it. Thanks so much for your help.
  3. Last episode audio with Stephanie's script.

  5. That makes sense then! Is there a place where you can read more Daytime Serial Newsletters? They sound very informative. Thank you
  6. IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last 3-4 months. I think Stephanie Braxton joined around 1969-1970 so that's probably right. I saw it stated in other newspapers that David Gale joined around September 1972.
  7. Of course! ❤️ I'm wondering if there were bits cut from this footage, because to me it seems that may be the case. At 11:23, Laurie tells her psychiatrist that the bar phoned and told her Mark got into a fight and needs to be picked up. It starts to fade to the next scene, you hear some different music begin and get cut off between the static, and where you'd expect to see the aftermath of the fight, we cut back to a later scene of Laurie in bed worrying about what's happening. The credits at the end also show that more than Mark, Laurie and Dr. Northcote should have been in this episode. Another character, Brody, played by Ed Setrakian, is mentioned but not shown. If this is the case, perhaps the original fan who saved this episode has the additional scenes.
  8. New episode from late 1973 or early 1974!
  9. I'm so excited about seeing the March 1982 episodes shot on location. I never ever thought I'd see those!! Am I an outlier in saying that I really like Aja and Dane together? Those episodes reminded me. I wish we saw more of those two after Aja goes to prison in April 1983. I could write an small essay on this lol!
  10. Some 1983 is missing from before April, too. The Jan 5, 1983 episode is uploaded in an incomplete form if you have it in full. A lot of February is missing, too. If you have the fight between Rusty Jr. and Sr. from Feb 28 that would be so cool to see. Thank you so much for all of your uploads. This is incredible!!
  11. I would love to read SFT'S show bible-- the kind mentioned here that the different writers used to keep track of the lore of each character to keep the canon relatively consistent (not the pitch bible). Does anyone know if any versions are in an archival collection? I will probably go look around.
  12. Hi! Is saynotoursoap still active anywhere? Just curious as I've seen that watermark on a few things before and could never make out what it said until your post..!
  13. I would absolutely be interested in this. I didn't get to watch the Secret Storm, but enjoy what little I have seen. I'd buy this book in a heartbeat. I'm fond of the storylines shown in the last few years of the show, but would be curious to read about the 60's stories as I don't know very much about those. You may already know this, but the man whose cassettes were just uploaded still has one more he needs to transfer, so that is coming soon.
  14. UCLA also has some as well: https://search.library.ucla.edu/discovery/search?query=any,contains,"secret storm",AND&tab=FTVA_slot&search_scope=FTVA&vid=01UCS_LAL:UCLA&mode=advanced&offset=0 I think I reached out to them about these in 2021 and was told that they did not have the proper technology to scan or play them if I'm remembering correctly. I'd be curious to hear if that's still the case.
  15. I haven’t watched much 1984, but it’s kind of surprising to hear Warren was so conniving after he was so against continuing his life of crime under Rusty in ’82-’83. I’ll have to check it out. Him and Martin enemies? I gotta see what happened. 🤭
  16. Does anyone know when Martin Tourneur left the show and what happened to him?
