  1. It could very well be a lie. Also, I heard her say "gone," rather than dead. Gone could mean any number of things. Wow, this goes to show how deep BTG's advertising campaign has penetrated the mainstream.
  2. If anyone cares the actor who uttered the very first words on BTG was Shaun Mixon as FC staffer Calvin. First lines, Episode 4: Diego Sanchez: "Absolutely, just let me know a good day and time for you." Tom Navarro: "I'm sure I don't have to tell you what a lucky man you are." Mike Davis: "No kidding! Hayley's one hell of a catch." Mystery Man: "Are you alone?" (This is character named in today's long credits but I won't spoil here) Today was Anthony Pascarelli's first directed episode and I thought it was just as good as the previous three.
  3. I wish CBS/Paramount+ would move to a streaming-first model. ITV streams its soaps at 7am the day of broadcast.
  4. For some reason I get the vibe that Naomi and Hayley were more than bffs. She is wounded by this affair in a way that Chelsea is not.
  5. LOL. I think the influence is more Hilary Banks.
  6. Don't think she will be in today's show but Tamara Tunie delivered today's "Beyond the Gates will continue."
  7. I know they are at Assembly Studios in ATL, but the water near Bill and Naomi reminded me of the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial which is a nice touch given the show's setting.
  8. The scene with Vanessa, Dani, and Nicole was way too short. I enjoyed seeing all three together and I'm interested in what Pamela might bring to this friend group.
  9. Sure why not? Soaps have proven to be a consistent source of subscriptions for the streamers as evidenced by NBC's move of DOOL from the network to Peacock. It makes more sense to invest in something that can provide your platform with relatively inexpensive content year-round rather than gambling on the popularity of prestige shows like White Lotus which only churn out 6-8 episodes every two years. Lots of people deactivate their subscriptions after they finish the latest seasons of shows like Game of Thrones or Stranger Things only to reactivate a year or two later when the new season starts. You don't have that problem with soaps. As for relevance, I would argue that daytime's grand dames - AMC, OLTL, ATWT, GL, and even AW - are more culturally relevant in 2025 than lots of other shows that have been rebooted for streaming. I don't think anyone was clamoring for a Punky Brewster reboot yet we got one on Peacock. The other great thing about streaming soaps is that demos don't matter as much. The money of a paying subscriber outside of the key demo is just as good as the money of a female 18-49 subscriber. Netflix has already already launched a daily soap, Valle Salvaje for Spanish speaking territories, and is about to launch a new French soap. And these are ongoing dramas, not novelas. Despite the recent failure of Neighbours on Amazon, I think it would be wise for Netflix or other streamers to start commissioning English-speaking soaps, new or revived. I hope BTG is successful and will sway them in that direction. The Edge of Night would be perfect for the Cop Broadcasting System. I could absolutely see EoN returning as a hybrid serial-procedural. CBS could even air omnibus episodes during their Crimetime Saturday night block, perhaps with the serialized aspects edited out.
  10. Yes! First Lines, Wednesday February 26: Doug: "Randy Parker! What's up my man?" Randy: "Doug McBride! You tell me." Both are recurring characters. We are still waiting on one contract player's first appearance: Tom. Still a work in progress: https://beyondthegates.fandom.com/wiki/Category:Current_characters 🤭
  11. We are already getting a Friday cliffhanger on a Wednesday 😭
  12. Anita called Hayley "that little heifer!" Vernon and Anita must have a body buried somewhere behind the Dupree Mansion
  13. Do we think Martin is responsible for the death of the guy (Alan?) Leslie is grieving? Dani is textbook borderline- impulse, unstable, with severe abandonment issues. I think she will seduce Bill away from Hayley just to prove a point
  14. I wonder if "Ego Harbor" is the actual name of the nearby community or if it is the nickname people from Fairmont Crest give it?
  15. Chelsea and Naomi talk about having to "tiptoe" around Dani based on her mood while growing up. Dani perhaps has borderline personality disorder?
  16. So whenever Dani wears blue we can expect trouble... like in in Reva in red on GL? 😁 Steven Williford directing again.
  17. Can Martin and Smitty please have a bedroom? Why is Martin sleeping on his couch?
  18. It's funny you say this because I just realized what his voice reminds me - Levar Burton introducing an episode of Reading Rainbow.
  19. First Lines, Day Two. Laura: "Hi Nicole, I was just about to text you." Ted: "You could bottle that beauty. the way you haven't changed since you were in your twenties. You'd have to take care of me." Mona: "I've been working with the chef on the Links brunch. We've got three menu possibilities. If you could choose just one today." Jan: "We know you're busy, so we won't stay long but I wanted to make sure you have a nice, healthy lunch." Leslie: "Makes sense: food is love." Eva: "You doubt it?" Shanice: "Ashley Morgan?" Smitty: "Look the spirit is definitely willing but right now it just isn't an option. I'm gonna need some time to figure out a way. But I'm not shutting the door. Not even close. And thank you for checking. Oh! I gotta go. Hey husband!"
