GH: May 2026 Discussion Thread
LOL! I wouldn't go that far, but I would say that if Lulu and Dante left the show tomorrow, I wouldn't miss them. Both Alexa and Dom are very good actors, as they showed in their scenes today. But Lulu and Dante are both so sanctimonous and self-centered and stubborn, I just can't root for them. "Nathan" and Britt keep giving them very good advice on how to keep Rocco safe, and they're not listening at all, so it just keeps turning into scenes like this: Lulu: "How DARE you tell me how to protect MY SON?" Britt: "Hey, where is Rocco anyway?" Lulu: "Oh, I sent him off to the Quartermaines or wherever so I could yell at you for speaking to MY SON."

For two people who've made parent their whole identity, Lulu and Dante sure are hilariously bad at it.

I can't believe you have to ask this. All evidence on screen for the past few years points to a strong "Yes".

I don't know if you've watched today's episode yet, but I think there are lots of fun ways they could have written a scene where Laura calls Ric out on his past misdeeds and tells him he's not good enough for Elizabeth. But that's not the way they went; instead it was all about how Ric needed to cancel his romantic getaway with Liz in order to protect her from Sidwell, and I just found the whole thing insipid. And, I'm sad to say, not very convincingly acted by Genie Francis.

There was a time when I really liked and rooted for Laura, but that time is getting harder and harder to remember. I thought she was ridiculous today in her scenes with Ric, butting into his relationship with Elizabeth.

What would be refreshing is if Ethan doesn't want the baby either. Maybe he suspects he's the dad but has his own reasons for keeping this secret, so he's happy to let Brook Lynn and Chase have custody. You could still get plenty of drama out of that without going to the custody battle well. Maybe Tracy gets suspicious that Ethan keeps dropping by the Q mansion and asking about the baby. Or maybe when the truth finally comes out, Chase gets jealous and doesn't want Ethan around.

Of all the episodes they could have preempted... at least they picked a very dull one. The highlight was Lucas's monologue about how Marco was insanely competive at tennis (and also a sore loser). Too bad they didn't give Marco this level of character development when he was actually alive, but better late than never!

You're not alone. I was just thinking that as I watched Friday's episode. I feel like RP is significantly better playing Cassius, where he gets to have more of an edge. In his first run as Nathan, RP would sometimes come off as arrogant or angry, and it didn't really work with the writing that was telling us he was supposed to be this good guy cop. The shady Cassius just seems like a much better fit for his energy.

Even though those Aladdin-promotion scenes with Gio and Emma were a little cheesy and awkward to watch, I still think it's a good sign that TPTB at GH are promoting this couple and their actors. They just posted the actors' behind-the-scenes travel vlog, and it's pretty clear from their body language that they're a real-life couple as well. They really do have a ton of chemistry that translates onscreen.

DAYS: Stork Delivery | promo (week of April 27, 2026)
That's an insult to YouTube fan trailers, which are generally much better edited than this. Although I will say this is the first Days trailer in a while that gave the sense something exciting might be happening in the upcoming week. If they'd just focused on the scenes of Joy and the baby, Javi collapsing, and Leo getting maced, then added appropriate music, they could have had a great trailer.

This quad has a lot of potential, and it did give us some interesting scenes today with Jordan keeping up her brave face with Curtis but then lashing out at Portia and Isaiah. But Darn is right that Isaiah's role in all of this is spectularly poorly defined, as the writers have never bothered to give us scenes where we learn about his motivations. They really need to give him some "talk-to" characters, like Liz or Lucas asking him how he feels about Portia carrying Curtis's baby.

So I think some folks on this board called that because Amanda Setton is one of Frank's pets, we were never going to get a juicy story where her reckless behavior actually causes a serious accident. And I feel like the fact that we have her so quickly spilling all to Tracy only confirms that this is a misdirect. I'm guessing we'll find out in the next couple of weeks that her swerving only caused the Charlotte/Danny accident, and the real culprit in Curtis and Jordan's accident was Isaiah. Now, why a doctor wouldn't stop to help the other car is beyond me, but the GH writers have consistently shown they don't really know what to do with Isaiah and don't know how to depict his motivations, so this would be par for the course.

Tanisha Harper might not be the most dynamic actress, but I have to say I was really impressed by how well she sold Jordan's distress over seeing the extent of her facial scars. Although I'm not particularly invested in Jordan and Curtis as a couple, I am interested in seeing how this medical storyline plays out.

The Pascal stuff seemed to come out of nowhere and wasn't very well acted. Still, I kind of like how Wyndemere is now populated entirely by campy overactors, to the point that Lucas is now the most straight-acting man living there.

Van's emotional breakdown scenes today basically worked for me, but I don't think he's being well-served by the writing. I think the show is trying to convey this idea that Lucas is still in shock and the grief is coming in waves, so some days he's relatively calm while other times he's overwhelmed. But the writing hasn't totally gotten this across, and so in some scenes (like his scenes with Joss) he just seems a little bored. Still, he's doing a lot better with this material than Carlo Rota is.

DAYS: Forms of Flattery | promo (week of March 30, 2026)
No kidding. Though I can't recall the last time I saw a DOOL promo that looked interesting. It's actually a little astonishing to me that no one at either Peacock or Corday Productions apparently realizes how bad these weekly promos have gotten. Because even if the stories aren't especially exciting, any competent editor should be able to produce a promo that entices the audience.

Boy, those WSB guys must really hate Cullum if they left him alone in a hospital room with no security whatsoever guarding it. Although I did appreciate the parade of people stopping by to kill him today. I'm assuming that Lucas joins that list on Monday, and I hope he finally does the deed.

Just idle speculation, but I wonder if we're building towards a scene where Britt sneaks into Cullum's room to kill him... and finds that someone's already beaten her to the punch.

I've got to give Wednesday's show props in one other area: all those scenes where Jason was taken to a prison in an undisclosed location where his basic human rights will not apply by shadowy federal agents who sneer at the very notion of due process. This is about as political as a daytime soap can reasonably get in 2026, and I appreciated it.

Has Shen ever had onscreen romantic chemistry with anyone? I don't mean to be cruel, but I've always found the character of Brad to be so poorly written and poorly acted, I've never felt invested in any of his storylines, romantic or otherwise.

Some great dramatic scenes today, but I'm still pissed that the show again prioritized short-term drama over long-term romance by killing off Marco. Maybe they thought he'd done too many bad things in helping Sidwell, but I thought they gave him a pretty believable redemption arc over the past couple of months. Worst case scenario is that they try to pair Lucas with Brad again. Best case is that they bring Adrian Achondo back in a few months as Marco's long-lost twin Mario, who's also gay. Or that they bring on Eric Sheffer Stevens as a Steven Lars Webber recast, only more sarcastic than before and newly bisexual.

Finn Carr is going to have one hell of an Emmy reel this year. He did a great job of selling Rocco's shock and shame and fear, even when he wasn't saying a word.

Oh yeah! I think the dialogue writing has gotten better in the past couple of years, but every time I tried to tune into GH in the late 2010s, I was always struck by how leaden the dialogue seemed; it was mostly exposition, and while a few of the show's veteran actors were able to find some nuances in it, most of the younger cast just seemed to recite it flatly. But back to Ron's Soapy interview, another thing I liked was learning what a fan he was of some of the actors he brought onto the shows he was head-writing (including Jackee Harry). He tells a funny story about getting to watch from the production booth as Erika Slezak and Robin Strasser acted out one of the first scripts he wrote, a scene where they get trapped in a locked room and rehash old arguments, and producer Jill Farren Phelps turns to him and asks, "Why am I watching two old ladies in a basement?" and he tells her, "Because it's amazing." He also recalls the increasing budget pressure he was under at DOOL; when he started, he had permission to use up to 13 characters in each day's script, but that number kept going down, to 10 or 11 characters per day by the time he left.

I really liked Ron's interview, which contained a fascinating story of being in the right place at the right time to get hired as a writer's assistant for OLTL. And I was glad he sounded contrite about his Twitter feuds. I'd agree that by the end of his DOOL stint, he was running on fumes. But I think he does have a lot of good qualities, including a love for shows' veteran actors and old storylines, as well as a penchant for shocking twists that keep the audience engaged. That said, I think he benefits when he has strong EPs who are willing to veto some of his more self-indulgent ideas, and he also needs scriptwriters who are able to ground his campier plots in dialogue that still feels authentic to the characters (in the way that the Cullitons and David Kreizman were on DOOL).
