    Next week shows (so far):

    #3492 - Dec 4, 1986

    #4861 - May 15, 1992

    #7863 - April 16, 2004

According to the Bell script library index,

    #3492 is Dec 5, 1986 (not Dec 4).

    http://pdf.oac.cdlib.org/pdf/ucla/pasc/wjbell.pdf

    IMDB says it's Dec 4.

The copy in the vault is labeled Dec 5.

The IMDB description for Dec 4 matches the copy in the vault dated Dec 5.

    Global update. Wednesday August 5 Global/Thursday August 6 CBS - 8083, OAD March 1, 2005. Lily's DNA test.

Yeah the "reveal" is Lily learning about the week of her conception ....  Malcolm tells Lily about .... Malcolm having sex with Dru when Dru was in an altered state (sick, and fuzzy due to cough syrup) and she thought he was Neil... and that the envelope is her paternity test.  The paternity test is opened and it shows that Neil is the father.
Lily is devastated to hear about Malcolm and Dru.
Meanwhile Phyllis learns that there were two paternity tests.

  3. Friday, July 31:
"Victor reunites with his estranged father, Albert Miller"
    (I assume that's from a press release).

Those CBS press releases are sometimes written by people who don't understand what's going on.

He is not an "estranged father".

The word "estranged" means "having lost former closeness and affection".

It should say Victor confronts his cruel biological father who was never a father to him.

    Friday July 31 CBS
    - 7764; OAD November 21, 2003. Victor confronts Albert Miller.

That was an okay episode but I feel like the show uses that stuff to justify Victor being written a certain way.  And the thing is ... this should have made Victor a layered character... but instead he is written/acted as somewhat one-note.

  5. Mon. July 27 - #5436
    Original airdate August 30, 1994

    Recap:
    https://groups.google.com/d/msg/rec.arts.tv.soaps/NZ3Etzvpx_Y/nmB4yShUo2EJ

    This episode has
    Heidi Mark as Sharon Collins.
    Robin Scott as Amy Wilson.

We know from soapcentral that Sharon Case debuted Sept 7, 1994.

It has been said that Julianne Morris debut as recast Amy sometime in 1994, but I never saw a date.

    But now I have a date ...

Based on quite a few 1994 newsgroup comments on "rec.arts.tv.soaps",
    I conclude this:
    On Sept 6 and 7, 1994...

Julianne Morris debuted as recast Amy Wilson and then
Sharon Case debuted as the second recast of Sharon Collins,

(Also, based on the newsgroup comments, on Sept 7, 1994, Karen Hensel debuted as recast Doris Collins.)

I think Sony could monetize those old episodes, but my guess is that CBS is a blocker. They may not want Sony to stream older episodes because it would pull some people away from watching newer episodes. Very possible they have exclusive rights built into their deal with Sony. The Bob Barker-era “Price is Right” isn’t rerun for the same reason.

I thought Sony owns most of Y&R (with a portion owned by Corday).

Which would mean that Sony allows CBS to air it. And Sony would decide?
I don't know. I think I read that somewhere but I'm not sure, and I could be wrong.

    I'm not an insider.

I guess the key would be, who has the distribution rights?

    {EDIT- I was missing a key factor. See the post below this for the correct information}

With modern technology, there is no reason at ALL they can't stream some of these episodes.

I think they have to check each one of the older episodes for music copyright, and they might have to edit or change the background music before airing.  We can see that they did that with the classics that have aired so far.  They might have to check every episode before releasing it.

  7. Wednesday, July 22, 2020 (Tues CDN)
(Original US airdate: March 12, 1993)
Newlyweds Neil and Dru celebrate their union with family and friends.
Michael plots his revenge against Cricket.

^ description from Daytime Confidential (maybe from a press release?)

I just watched it on the playlist.
    What a watered down description!

    What actually happens:

Neil and Dru's wedding reception and wedding night.

Michael spends the entire episode breaking through the wall, brick by brick, into Christine's apartment, declaring how he will make her pay. He is quite scary. He breaks through and the episode ends.

  8. In the very first episode of Y&R, actor Tom Hallick's character Brad Eliot hitches a ride into Genoa City. Someone driving a truck picks him up and gives him a ride.

Gina Tognoni's Phyllis began airing in 2014 when she awoke from her coma and then broke out of the hospital and gradually hitchhiked across several states towards Genoa City.

On the final portion of Phyllis' trip, in episode #10506  of 26 September 2014, she hitched a ride from someone driving a truck into Genoa City.
The driver of the truck was played by the original actor Tom Hallick

-- but he wasn't playing Brad Elliot here.
Tom Hallick was just playing a random driver.
The scene was done as an homage to Episode #1.
Some of the visuals and dialog were similar.

I think they showed a clip from episode #1 in order to promote episode #10506.

Sabrina worries that Victor gave Adam a reward in a way to punish Victoria, and she worries Vikki and Nick might not come to their wedding. Lauren keeps getting frustrated when Gloria accuses an innocent woman of shoplifting. Jill and Jeff arrive at the boutique for a little shopping and Gloria intentionally spills coffee on Jill. She then lies to Jeff that she slept with Alistair. Jack, Nick, Sharon and Phyllis continue bickering while worrying about Katy Perry coming to Restless Style. After the photo shoot, Jack tells the gang that he wants to scrap the cover because the advertisers don't like seeing a pop star on the cover, but Nick immediately refuses to do it. Jana, Lauren and Kevin are worried that Gloria might be planning another scheme. Katherine urges Jill to let Jeff be with Gloria. Jill seduces Jeffrey at the office

Omg I didn’t realize Victor’s mom was so down and dirty daaaaamn

But she was faking being a bad person.  She decided to let Victor think she was trash, in order to make Nikki look good, so that Victor and Nikki could be happy together.  Katherine figured it out at the end of the episode. And in the episodes after that, it was revealed to Victor that his mother was putting on that act, to help him.  He forgave everything, and his mom moved into the ranch until her death (she was already ill then, so she didn't live that much longer).

But yeah the actress playing his mom was pretty convincing!

What even happened to the character of Olivia? I wasn’t watching when she was on, but she’s been featured so much in these classics starting from 1990 and is barely mentioned even with her son on canvas

Olivia is working for Doctors Without Borders.  She sent her condolences when Neil died.

And yes it's criminal that the character of Olivia has been alive all these years but we never see her.

  13. Phyllis Summers - Y&R
    Michelle Stafford: 1994-1997
    Sandra Nelson: 1997-1999
    Michelle Stafford: 2000-2013
    Gina Tognoni: 2014-2019
    Michelle Stafford: 2019-present

I liked Sandra Nelson a lot. (She was in a couple of the recently-aired classic epis.)

I loved Michelle Stafford in 2015-2016.

I grew to love Gina and I miss her.

I feel kind of "meh" about Michelle now.

    --

Here is Sandra Nelson on instagram from April 2020.

She's talking about something unrelated to soaps.
But I find fascinating, that in just a few seconds of her voice, I know this is Phyllis. She's still got that thing, 21 years later.

for past writers: Danielle Paige - GL and DAYS.
