Well that's kind of a shame to hear 😕  compare that to someone like Jeanne Cooper who probably found no else's job to be that important from the other person.

Jeanne Cooper was pure class. If she had an early call time, the show would send a town car to pick her up, drop her off at the studio, and take her room at the end of her day. She radiated Katherine Chancellor, but the fun bits! From my interactions with her, she didn't have a bad word for anyone. She even told little funny tales of Brenda Dickson, who she still liked (as did Doug Davidson).

I'll share this one Jeanne Cooper tidbit: My mother used to watch Y&R when it was half an hour and then AMC, but when AMC expanded, she gave up Y&R (but my mom was ALWAYS a Katherine fan). I told this to Jeanne, she said with a wicked laugh and smile, "Tell your mother she can KEEP Erica Kane!" I still love that.

    Hmmm....do tell more. :)

Melody Thomas Scott is a diva behind the scenes. Whenever she has scenes with Eric Braeden or has to kiss him, she rolls her eyes and makes a huge deal about it. From my observations, her closest friend on set is/was Sharon Case.

Eric Braeden isn't a diva...he just likes to get in and get out and he likes his scene partners to be prepared. No joking around or calling for lines when you're in a scene with him!

I never heard of Flannery being a Diva?

She's a diva to people below her. Interns, production assistants she doesn't like...those kind of people. She's nice as pie to producers & her fellow actors. Susan can be prickly with directors if she doesn't agree or like their vision for the scene. I speak from experience. That is all.

Yeah, Kay Alden and Jack Smith pretty carefully created a need for Jabot to require some extra cash and to turn towards Nikki and Brad for the funding.   It was all kind of integral to the storyline.   Plus it gave Nikki a good opportunity to interact with Jill, and gave them some great lines that drew on their history.

Jill:  You only have a position here because you BOUGHT yourself a position.

Nikki:   And YOU only have a position here because you SLEPT your way into it.

And then all of that got thrown away later in favor of NVP, Crystal Springs, and a stupid senate race.

These scenes in the Jabot boardroom were epic and on YouTube for years under the title “Does Anyone Have a Spare $75 Million?” How I wish they would resurface. Brad, Jill, Jack, Nikki... Good times and great storytelling.

I know the feeling. I've come very, very close to walking away from Emmerdale over the years due to horrible storylines and incessant focus on repellent characters....

Iain MacLeod shouldn't be allowed to produce a local panto let alone a top-rated drama. The way he ruined EMMERDALE... I remember EMMERDALE fans warning CORRIE fans that he was a disaster. He's the UK equivalent of Jill Farren Phelps.

    Who runs this website? https://youngrestless.webs.com/home

they have full weekly summaries from 1978-1981 and some descriptions of some specific episodes, which leads me to believe there may be more episodes out there than we think! ;)

The descriptions from 1973 are in the Bell archive. I believe they are Bill Bell's synopses of his episodes (or an assistant wrote them from his script). I recall reading the two weeks and remember seeing Jill & Greg mentioned in Episode #2 of Y&R.

Just reading Jason 47's post of the script of Doug meeting Julie on Days in 1970 and there is a mention of going to the Colonnade Room!

Seems Bill Bell had a thing for that establishment.Wonder if there was a real life CR he based it on?

There was a real Colonnade Room at Chicago’s Edgewater Beach Hotel, which was closed in 1967 and demolished in 1969. Chicago native Bell probably kept the name alive after frequenting it with Lee. One can only imagine!

I'm not sure they would want to remind people of the show's history, especially the part that involved farming. That aspect has practically disappeared nowadays. Yes, Moira is supposedly still running a farm, but it's hardly ever mentioned. That is a shame, because that is one thing that set Emmerdale Farm apart from the other shows, and gave it a distinctive identity. Now every story told on the show could just as easily be told on Coronation Street or EastEnders. Emmerdale has lost that which made it unique and is now just another generic soap.

You're right. I remember reading a few years ago that the reason a lot of Americans (like myself) enjoyed EMMERDALE was that it was a different pace, in an idyllic setting where you could breathe and enjoy the story.

Now that I know Ian is gone, I'll give the show another chance. It always pains me when I give up a soap I've loved for more than a decade (All My Children, One Life to Live, The Young and the Restless), so I'm willing to see what happens next...for better or worse... Although, I've been loving Hollyoaks for the last six months - hands down.

WOW!!!! Thank you for sharing this gem!!! I'm still stunned.

And this episode was written by William J. Bell & Kay Alden. Oh, why Kay isn't a consultant on Y&R, I'll never know... Wait, I do know... Never mind. That's what makes the destruction of the show that much more painful.

Thanks again for sharing this priceless gem.

Macleod's name left the credits 2-3 weeks back.

I imagine the story will be over within the next 3 weeks, as that is the time that Aaron and Robert will be getting married.

Thanks!! Good to know. I’ll dip my toe back in this weekend. He needed to go a year ago.

I think it's actually improved some the last month or so - last week was better than I expected, anyway. There seems to be more focus on community and family again.

Is McLeod still listed at the producer? He should’ve been fired a long time ago.

I’ll give it another shot once Rebecca is free. Is that story over or close to it?

Are they serious with this crap about Lachlan hiring a nurse to help keep Rebecca captive? I can't believe the depths this show has sunk to. It's pathetic!

I guess I should be thankful that at least Rebecca is alive but this is such a tragic mess.

When I think about how good and realistic this show used to be and then compare that to what it is now it makes me want to cry with frustration and anger.....

I stopped watching about a month ago after 11 years. I couldn’t take it anymore and the Lachlan/Rebecca story was a big reason why.

  13. Quick question: I’m new to “The Doctors” thanks to RetroTV. I was watching a few episodes from this past week and I won’t have access to my DVR for a few weeks. Does anyone know the original air dates of the episodes that aired yesterday on Retro at 12PM and 12:30PM EST? I’d love to stay current on YouTube. Thanks!
