Carley Stenson on T4: I love her. Given the exit she's probably getting, I don't know if I can watch the show and have any attachment to it again. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNHTtrzwBS0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param'>http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNHTtrzwBS0?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNHTtrzwBS0?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Friday's episode: It's about time Roxy lost all of her money. I've never seen someone waste money like her ever. I like how Jack and Max can joke about Tanya burying Max alive now. I like how Max seems confident about being over Tanya now. The Kat and Ronnie scenes were great. It's ironic seeing Ronnie try to defend Roxy to Kat, since Kat used to do that all the time for her sisters during her first stint. They finally remembered that Ian and Alfie are good friends. I'm not sure what to think of Harry and Vanessa, but I'm open to finding out more about them. The brick though the window of Max's house at the end of the episode took me by surprise.

I think Carley's leaving came as a surprise to Marquess, he had initially said that Steph's cancer story would run way into 2011, but looks like they had to cut it short when Carley decided not to renew her contract.

Max and OB are the greatest partnership in Hollyoaks history. Nothing will ever come close. To involve Steph, if Matt Littler had stayed, Max and Steph would have been the signature couple of the show. I'm sure they would have had their problems, but I do think the show would have been committed to them in the longterm.

I wonder if they'll give Steph a special end credits too, like they did for Max and OB after Max died and OB left for good. Again, I doubt they care anymore.

You know what would be nice? Since Hollyoaks is a fantastical show that doesn't always live in reality, it would be sweet if Max came back as a ghost to usher Steph into heaven. I doubt they care enough to make that effort though.

I wonder if they killed Steph because they didn't want to lose Tom if they wrote Steph off. I'm sorry, his ass could've gone to London with Steph if she became a theater star, he would've been closer to OB too. The show probably won't be around long enough to see Tom grow into a young adult anyway. Watch Frankie and Darren mourn Steph for like 5 seconds and then she's never mentioned again... If Steph's funeral becomes all about Cheryl and her grief, I will kill myself.

Steph. I'm sorry, but the show won't find another actress like Carley Stenson again. She could handle anything they threw at her, and has skills as both a comedic and dramatic actress. Her longevity on the show through various different regimes proved her worth. If they think Cheryl is some type of replacement, they better think again. At least Carley is doing what she's always wanted to do now (musical theater). But I hope after a few years, Corrie might hire her for a role. I've always thought she would be great on Corrie and in many cases was too good for just being a "Hollyoaks actress." Steph better not die in that gagworthy fire. That would be such a cheap exit and would totally take away from her terminal illness story. I still wish they would've sent her off alive by having Steph's life mirror Carley's life with Steph moving to London to do theatre (since Steph always wanted to be a star).

I think Max may just want her to stay because she's his last connection to Bradley left or something. Though, I do think Max has deep love for her outside of the Bradley connection. It's probably not the romantic kind of love since both Tanya and Vanessa are still there, or he just uses that as a tactic to stall her and get her to reconsider leaving. There's apparently more to her exit that we don't know, and it's supposed to be on Christmas day. Those scenes don't look very Christmas-y though.

Looks like Stacey's last set of scenes are with Max. I don't know about the "love" part, sounds like false information, or something Max just tells her to stay. But I do feel there's always been genuine repressed love between Max and Stacey, the affair aftermath and Bradley's dead didn't take away from that. http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/soaps/3214165/Stacey-says-see-you-Slater.html#ixzz14RWHDxOW I'm going to miss Lacey, but I do feel like it's time for Stacey to go. She's been though a lot and needs a rest. Maybe in 5 years or so if Lacey wants to come back, they can bring her back. Whether anyone likes it or not, she's sort of been the face of the show over the past 5 years.

Thanks. Wow, sooner than we expected. I expect there to be a transition period before the new team of storyliners is credited. I think they didn't have a storyliner for a while after Dominic left.

Ronnie was totally rendered useless when Santer/DTC decided that she was going to be their "tragic heroine" and never allowed the character to grow outside of that. After a while, who cares how and why she's suffering? It's not the same with someone like Sharon, who is still the show's definitive heroine. She had a life, it was filled with suffering, but the suffering didn't define who she was/is. People also watched her grow up and evolve.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
It probably will, apparently they're going back to having a full team of storyliners, so the responsibility of coming up with stories won't fall squarely on one person, as it often did with Treadwell-Collins.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Someone mentioned that the last storyline Dominic Treadwell-Collins is involved with is Stacey's exit, which happens around Christmas. So, we'll see the work of a new storylining team by the New Year.

Another thing I'll say is that I like how Pat is being positioned as some sort of prime matriarchal figure on the show. With both Pauline and Peggy gone, she's really the only one left from that generation, and she's not as obnoxious as Peggy and she's not as cold as Pauline. She's a perfectly sane balance.

I don't have a problem with them back and they aren't dominating the show to the extent they did in their first two weeks (which EastEnders always does with returning characters it seems), but so far, they haven't delved beneath the surface of the characters, but maybe that's for a reason, given that they're apart of an upcoming story that's supposed to be big. Kat is a much more complex creature than what is on the screen at the moment. We've seen bits of pieces of her softer side with Stacey, Jean, Lily, and Big Mo. But so far, they're making the same mistake with her that they made with Bianca when they first brought her back by having her yelling/fighting with everyone. This show tends to pick one feature of a character that returns and totally goes over the top with it. I don't think the first Lauren had much of a personality to begin with. She was just a little girl that hated Max from time to time, and sometimes Lucy's friend. The Beales appear to be back this week, but I don't think their story will kick off in full swing until Lucy returns with the recast. Oh, Amello, I was very busy on Tuesday and Wednesday to post. I will say that I liked the Vic re-opening with the whole community there on Tuesday's episode. I like the bottom portion of the new Vic, but the new living room and that tropical wallpaper is just rancid to look at.

Aw, they had a nice little "In Tribute to Ina Clare" title card at the end of today's episode. Ina did appear in the episodes as well. Gotta love how Janine has Pat listed as "Fat Pat" on her phone. I've been enjoying Janine a lot these past couple of episodes, it kind of feels like the Janine of 2000-2004. She's not some outrageous cartoon villain that plays tricks, they're playing up her vulnerability and how she does bad things to conceal it and get attention. I loved the scenes where Pat knew Janine had kidnapped Lily and was trying her best to lie to Stacey, Jean, and Kat that she hadn't suspected anything. The scenes with Pat, Carol, and Glenda were also quite enjoyable. Three very different women together. That was a nice scene between Kat and Alfie towards the end with Kat opening up a little about her insecurities.
