Oh, wow, Carl, that's funny. I wonder what the poster made of EastEnder's "jazzy" theme in the early 90s.

But not a Carter in sight! That must be worth something. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the bits with Bonnie Langford. She looks good.

Looks like Amy James-Kelly (Maddy) already has a great new job lined up: ITV Orders Jericho With Jessica Raine, Peter & Wendy With Stanley Tucci http://deadline.com/2015/05/itv-drama-series-jericho-jessica-raine-peter-wendy-stanley-tucci-1201426666/

Hah, Carl. I still think we're due a true legacy character like Courtney to help clear out dead wood like Whitney.

In the Times Square subway station here in NYC there's a salon/barber shop which hasn't bothered to replace photos of "hairstyle models" since the mid 1980s and one of them is the girl who played Cheryl McKinnon!

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
OK, would this girl Jessica Lester not be a great Courtney Mitchell? And if she were brought on there'd be no use for Whitney whatsoever.

I'm guessing it will be the new teenage girl McQueen, Cleo.

Of course very few of them came anywhere near the great beauty that was Paul Nicholls. A lot of people thought Jack Ryder was beautiful but I never saw it. And despite his creepy real life antics I think Neil McDermott is handsome and very sexy.

I've resented Whitney from the start because she only seemed to me to be a device to show Bianca interacting with a teenage stepdaughter. Yes, I did once liken Linda to Angie. I think she's a hell of a lot less neurotic and self-destructive but I think they both share a certain "theatricality." I don't think Lee is even eye candy. To me he's a thin lipped, pasty faced dullard without an ounce of sexuality. The redhead on Coronation Street who plays the ex military guy Gary is sexy to me in a way that the one who plays Lee totally isn't. They really missed the mark casting him, I think.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I just didn't think sending Deirdre off to "visit Bev" was a good enough reason for her to miss Peter's trial, TracyLuv's wedding that wasn't, Christmas, etc. I guess they had to come up with something quick, though, and that was the best they could do. At least she was there for a few weeks following Ken's return. X Factor winner/pop star Shayne Ward is joining Coronation Street as Aidan Connor. http://celebgosspb.com/2015/05/12/shayne-ward-has-joined-coronation-street/

Good God, tonight's show was dull. Vincent murmuring "Expect the unexpected" to Ronnie was amusing, though. Has he been in the US during the summer and heard Julie Chen aka The Chenbot murmur those very same words over and over and OVER on Big Brother since 2002?

Gemmill was very hot looking on Casualty-he'll be a good addition to the Street. I can see Robert romancing Carla, too.

Shame that the role of Nikolai was wasted on Paul Hecht-he was a very charming, accomplished theater actor. I always saw a wonderful physical resemblance between not only Sandra Ferguson and Victoria Wyndham but also with Constance Ford. Those choppers were very similar! I guess you'd call it an overbite. I thought her Amanda looked the perfect combination of Mac (blonde hair) and Rachel (the aforementioned teefs). I just wish we had gotten to see Amanda through her earlier teenage years like we got to do with Ryan on RH and Victoria on Y&R. Amanda was played by a little girl (Dana Klaboe), disappeared for a period of months and emerged as a young lady who looked no younger than 18.

I'd love to see Diane Parrish in Genoa City. Rob Kazinsky's Frankenstein update has been ordered to series by Fox: http://m.hitfix.com/the-fien-print/foxs-frankenstein-gets-a-series-order-and-a-new-title As for tonight's episode Kat and Alfie's lottery afterglow wasn't as excruciatingly cutesy as I feared it would be. And Tameka Empson was really excellent in all her scenes. Wow. They really are reinventing Kim's character. That's something good, at least. As for Tina and Sonia...YAWN.

Finally watched the commercials, Carl-a much younger Tony Caunter (Roy) is in that C&A commercial! I loved June Whitfield (Sister Ruth) in the first commercial, too. Thanks!

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
I agree about Sonia coming back helped a bit to shore up the Jackson/Brannings but I can only take her in small doses. Denise is great but is being completely wasted. It was a terrible idea to pair her with Ian in the first place. Diane Parrish deserves a love interest with a hell of a lot more charisma and energy than Adam Woodyatt.

I doubt anyone cares about them. It's a big mistake to push that triangle to the forefront.

So Kat and Alfie just won a million pounds. Fabulous. They'll give the nouveau riche a bad name. Sure, reward Alfie with a million quid although less than a year ago he tried to get financial compensation by burning down his residence. A big ol' shark has jumped, ladies and gentlemen.

I want Ste with nobody-and out of Chester. I see JP with an older man. Are we sure that Jeremy Sheffield's character isn't bi?
-
Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
Yes, I could totally get behind (pardon my pun) a Harry/Lockie pairing.

I could never stand Ste. He's just so fricking obnoxious. I agree with you about the facial similarities between Ste and Harry's faces. Except the kid who plays Harry has quite a beautiful face and Kieron Richardson has a face I'd like to smack.

Thanks for these, Carl and Monika! How cute is Susan Keith (Kiberd)'s headshot? Very. And Laura Malone looks great. It's wonderful that she's a successful lawyer now. I just worked yesterday with Diane Bradley fka Bradley Bliss (Kit Farrell/Holloway) yesterday on a pilot for FX. She told me she's working a lot as a freelance writer. She thanked me again for pointing her to a YT channel which has great quality episodes of her time on AW. She said her nieces have really gotten a kick out of them.

This is great, Carl, thanks for sharing. That's Jacqueline Pirie (Tina Dingle/Linda Sykes) playing Pauline! She's actually Scottish. Got a real affinity for accents, hasn't she? I always thought she could have become a star. I wonder what she's doing nowadays. Here's how Maddy Hill did living on just under 1£ a day... http://www.actionaid.org.uk/blog/fundraising/2015/05/05/how-eastenders-star-maddy-hill-survived-belowtheline?utm_source=TwitterFundraising&utm_medium=Tweet&utm_campaign=LBTL_May15

I agree, BetterForgotten. I think she'd be great as landlady of The Rovers.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
I'm getting a strong vibe that Liz and Steve will lose The Rovers and Carla will take it over. This would most likely be Allison King's final big storyline on the show. I'm with those who think she probably won't be back in 2017.
