  1. Ava knows something is up and is trying to isolate everyone from Sonny for her own gain. It’s been successful with Jason, Carly, and Michael, and yesterday she gave Nina the advice of selling her MC shares to Jason under the advice Sonny would appreciate it being sold to his best friend and in turn make Sonny warmer to her (knowing full well it won’t).

The only one she hasn’t been able to isolate yet is Kristina (and Dante, but he’s preoccupied lol), who already suspects Ava is up to no good.

  2. Maurice has also credited former producer Shelley Curtis for being there for him during his first few years - when he was suffering through anxiety and not able to remember his lines, Curtis would stay late with him in his dressing room and run through his entire scripts with him, line by line, so he could feel confident and prepared.

Curtis must have had the patience of an angel. They had more time back then, true, but she went above and beyond.

  3. Sonny at least gets called out on his sh!t by a select few - but, according to everyone, the MetroCourt can't function without Carly, she can save magazines with no editorial experience, she can fight off thugs by her mere presence alone, save lives, Nina is responsible for everything that's gone wrong in Carly's life, and she has the most perfect hair doing it all!

  4. it’s so stupid, but this shows goes out of its way to say Carly is Jesus level and is the cure for everything.

Remember in the early 00’s during that Face of Deception storyline when Carly would call Liz “the face of Kelly’s!” In a strange turn of events, that’s what Carly ended up becoming. 😂 Although, I guess it’s “Bobbie’s” now.

  5. IMO, the Krakoa era has been threading water since Hickman abruptly left. I’m still upset he never got to finish his plans as the head of the X office. Krakoa did change the status quo for the X books though (which was badly needed).

I can’t say what’s planned for the line relaunch has me too excited, but then I think entirety of Marvel comics (and DC for that matter) has been pretty abysmal for a looooong time.

  6. It’s easily the best thing Marvel has produced since the end of the Infinity saga - and most of their Disney+ outings to date have either been a mixed bag or completely abysmal, IMO.

The X-Men IP is Marvel’s strongest IP, but they’ve either never treated it well or left it in the hands of people who completely misunderstood it or saw it as a quick cash grab (much of the the Fox era films). This show finally gives the source material some reverence while charting some unique territory of its own. You can tell it’s being run by people who respect the IP.

I agree, some things have been rushed due to the 10 episode season 1 order. The Goblin Queen stuff should have been a multi-episode arc alone IMO, but it’s easy to overlook as the show has been compelling on an episode by episode basis so far.

There’s a lot of heart and humanity to much of the material, and sometimes you forget it’s the continuation of a 90’s Saturday morning cartoon. It’s really a pleasant surprise in this era. I’m glad it’s breaking ratings records for animated shows on Disney+.

First,  they slip in a throwaway line about Jason leaving half his estate to Carly and splitting the rest between his sons?!

That rubbed me so wrong, lol. Carly gets half the estate and then his sons are left to split the rest? Not totally inconsistent with his characterization, I guess, but it continues to be glaring what a horrible father Jason was and continues to be (with very few checking him on that ) and why his sons their mothers have every right hate and be horrible people to Carly and Jason.

I mean, you don't give up MW?  Even if I don't love her she's too big of a daytime get to not keep her around.

Honestly, not like they’re in danger of not being able to get her back if they did drop her. She’s never made it in primetime/film (and is probably considered too “old” at this point), she was miscast and then fired at Y&R (with Susan Walters now being back as Diane as well), she’s not Brad Bell’s material at B&B and would likely be out of there as soon as she got hired lol, and I don’t see DAYS hiring someone in her age range for a long term role.

Not saying she’s at the top of my firing list, but the character was aimless for years. Frank’s big problem is hiring and re-hiring people he considers “name” talent and keeping them on the show when the writing has never been there to support the characters lasting so long.

To me, if you don’t earn your place on the canvas with a role that has meaning and with writing to support you, you can go. Regardless of the talent level.

You know I can take or leave Ava and Maura West, but I will always feel like Ava is ill defined.  Is she a villainess to be feared?  A wacky romantic heroine?  A caricature of a human?  I hope PM begins to shape Ava as a character better and go with the villainous mob threat over any romantic story with Sonny.  We've discussed this before, but Ava is definitely a character that has suffered from lack of motivation for years now.

Like so many on this show, it’s a wonder why she’s lasted so long beyond Maura’s talents.

But, honestly, where does Ava go after this storyline and after she’s exposed? At some point, this type of character has an expiration date and when they stretch it for a long time, the character is aimless as hell.

  10. I think the teasing of Kristina’s mistrust and suspicion of Ava is interesting foreshadowing. I think Kristina may unravel Ava’s plans against Sonny, or Ava may do something that causes Kristina to miscarry (and ending this unnecessary surrogacy storyline).
