I know that I'm quoting it and I don't want him to be here.......but why would you bring Alan Sarapa here? He's the LAST place I'd go to for soap opinions.

Not a fan of Jamey. I'd like to enjoy Beyond Salem2, but so far, I don't. Maybe tomorrow.

Alan's tweet is somewhat relevant to the thread. The lesson i've learned on SON is don't let fellow posters diminish your spirit. At the end of the day. It's just a message board. Filled with extremely eccentric types.  Myself included.

Now back to the subject at hand. Episode 4 of Beyond Salem. It's funny Marlena materialized out of thin air.  Peter and Kristian still have chemistry. Bo & Hope's reunion scenes were good. As was Hope's reunion with Zach. Sadly, they can't save this mess. All those redressed sets are pathetic. Looks like BS blew all its budget on Tonight, I Celebrate My Love. It was nice to see the characters dancing to real music.

I am always pleased that we can at least point to the diversity of modern casting as progress over the portrayal of Tonio Reyes, Sierra Estaban, Felicia Cummings (the Aztec Princess), and Paulina Cantrell (daughter of Maria Hernandez DeSilva) all by white (mostly blond) actors.

It was a different era. But it sure would've been great. If tptb had cast real Hispanic actors. We come in many assorted flavors of humanity. Not all Hispanics are Mestizo's. Which is what the entertainment Industry thinks we all look like. I for example look Mediterranean. Even though Tonio wasn't one of my favorites. I liked seeing him in the thick of things.

I remember when Rhonda started as Vicky, I couldn't stand her because I was such an Ellen Wheeler fan. Watching her now, I don't find her as bad as I remember. The writing wasn't the best for her and I don't think they knew what to do with Vicky once Jake/Marley were gone. I also didn't like Anne Heche in the beginning but she grew to be one of my fave daytimers of all-time. Maybe if Rhonda had a little more time with a better story, she would have been decent.

I agree with you about Rhonda. I'm currently rewatching that era. She never got the chance to prove herself.

Tonio feels like an outdated Falcon Crest character.

You're dead right about Tonio. He totally gave a FC vibe. For me as a Hispanic teen watching. Tonio provided some representation. Even though the role was played by a white actor.

I just miss that kind of character interaction and it was all in the same room. Whereas now, people sit at the same table or the last stool at the bar at Brady's Pub, the individual who is being held in custody always sits on the right side in the interrogation room, and the same people sit at the same table and have a cocktail in that night lounge place, etc. Oh, the things we once took for granted and never really thought about until now, lol! Hahaha!

I miss the days when there were tons of extra's. And hit songs playing in the background.

  6. Not really enjoying it as much as BS #1. The heaven stuff with Bo, Loretta Devine and Larry Welch was tedious. I find myself skipping through a lot of boring stuff.  Not much happens until the end which i wouldn't spoil.

Happy to hear it. I'm surprised Ron stopped himself from saying she ran off with a rock star.

Sorry i gave you misinformation. I had to rewatch the scene. Since JT mumbled his lines. Chris told Paul and Andrew that he and his wife Savannah have owned the Body Connection for either 30 or 40 years.

  8. Just watched the first two episodes The best thing was seeing John having fun. At Paul's Pride party. It was nice seeing Paul as well as Tripp. New Joey is quite a tasty snack. I already like the new Stephanie. Steve '' ghetto clanks ''Burton was BAD.

Paul and Andrew have a nice chemistry I liked the hot tub scenes. So, far it's not as much fun as the original. It's pitiful that so many of the sets are just recycled Days sets. I could've done without the awkward Chris Kositchek appearance. And a Savannah Wilder mention. Ron Carlivati always uses history in the cringiest of ways. I feel like i'm watching an episode of the 60's Batman tv series. It all so damn silly.
