I feel like every single time a head writer or head writing team begins to draw back the mob (a.k.a Sonny Corinthos), TPTB at Disney-ABC draws them back in. And, I get it, but the Quartermaines and the hospital should be the main pull. As for Austin... I think, had they cast someone else, the role would work much better and hold court. But Roger Howarth is not it.

I miss Lenny, too, but without killing him off and burning the Tan-O down, then I don't think Phyllis would be in Port Charles right now. I also think there should be some kind of connection between Epiphany and Phyllis, a-la going to medical school together, etc.

That's true on 'getting Phyllis to Port Charles'.

While very very mob heavy during the Guza/Phelps years I could still say they 'wrote for the hospital'. The Q's, not so much. They were expendable.

I feel like a balance could be reached between 'the mob', the hospital and The Q's. Claire Labine did a fairly good job, though heavy in different ways so that exhausted people.

I do believe it's the BBC that's pulling the episodes from all PBS stations.  They probably want people subscribe to BritBox, which sadly doesn't have any of the older stuff. Just the newer episodes from the past 90 days. The episodes are usually available to watch within minutes of the UK broadcast is ending. But current EastEnders is so much worse than the stuff from years ago.

It must be BBC. It's interesting how Drama can air EastEnders classic episodes but they don't put them on BritBox? I mean, seems silly to not leverage the classic years?

  3. lol at the abrupt commercial breaks. So true.

It's nice to sometimes have Baywatch on in the background or 90210. I watched Melrose Place last night instead of Y&R (my first time on the Pluto soaps channel). I was so bored, sorry Y&R.

Pluto is a godsend for MST3K, RiffTrax, Dark Shadows and classic Doctor Who, among others. They also do 90210 and Melrose IIRC. The super low-rent ads they run in the abrupt commercial breaks crack me up, but I can keep Pluto on all night when I get sleep or am feeling low.

My idea of hell would be ABC, etc. licensing out soap reruns only from 2000-on which is probably what I can see happening, lol.

    I could see the latter

  4. I'm guessing they were bombarded by social media and media questioning them lol. Good to know more is to come. We'll see where this goes ...

OMG!  Ryan's Hope and Another World, please!!!

I don't feel like they'll just randomly air whatever, who knows, but YES PLEASE.

I would love to see Ryan's Hope and perhaps Capitol (Does CBS still own the rights to that show?) Too bad it seems P&G will hold onto their library of shows until the end of the world. Imagine this channel airing 80's Another World or The Edge Of Night.

I always wonder about P&G. We had the AOL streaming thing. We had soap classics dvds. Another World was on SoapNet. But they seem so uninterested. I'd love to get ATWT and GL (and Edge, etc.) ... I don't really believe CBS wanted to buy them but P&G really should have sold their soap products off. (And if CBS did they'd just sit on the shelf collecting dust like AMC and OLTL are over at ABC)

I won't be 'greedy' and I'd simply be ecstatic to have Classic Y&R rerun. They seem to believe there's room for Classic B&B on YouTube so .... I know music, rights, etc. but still ... let's go ...

(reruns are just one main reason I think it was a mistake for the soaps to be a full hour. B&B is "easier", Ryan's Hope, Dark Shadows, The Doctors ... all half hour and more palatable to sit through)

Question is, are they going to be a catch-all soap streaming channel or are they trying to stick with CBS-esque/affiliated soaps? You know?

    Best spoiler ever:

Kevin bails Spencer out on the condition that he gets a job. Spencer gets a job at Kelly's... working under Cameron.

This is must-see TV to be honest. 😂 I can't wait to see Spencer working a townie job with Cameron telling him what to do.

ALL of us have been wanting this. I'm so excited. LOL.

Oh and nice to see Portia/Elizabeth!

And it's funny to see social media soooo impatient about certain interactions, like Spencer and Alexis. See, they interact again. Not everyone can interact on a regular basis. I'll take frequent interaction. Sorry for bringing up soap opera social media but they amuse me. (Sidenote it's also amusing seeing the Jason/Sam fans all annoyed they never interact - newsflash this is nothing new; he rarely interacts with Elizabeth too and at this point it feels like Robin WHO?)

EXACTLY! No one will ever convince me that she wasn't not invited back. She is angry, entitled and party over country.

Don't forget that a lot of people were home all day still, this time last year.

    Yep on Meghan.

And yep, excellent point. People were literally *at home* last year. LOL. And it helped it was an election year. I can see why ratings are lower.

I've said it before but Meghan McCain is a political commentator. She's just not built to be a host for the show. They gave her a chance to grow out of being just a political commentator but she couldn't do it.

She refused to engage when she had no interest in the topic (at times I did laugh at her hardnosed refusal to comment), 99% of the time she was grimacing, bitching, pouting ... you could feel it in the air. You knew how she'd be with certain guests. She is a very "me me me" person. I, personally, would have loved to see her "loosen up" because a part of me thinks she has it in her, but she's soooo stuck in her "role" as a political commentator.

Candace Cameron Bure can also have a seat. She acts like she's America's Sweetheart but she's always given me "bitch" vibes.

Sometimes the problem isn't the workplace. It's you.

That would be better to see I guess.

I like Kristen, and both of her portrayers but part of me does hope that

      Hide contents

    Kristen's upcoming return

will be the final one for the character

I feel like we need another DiMera daughter to stir up trouble. Kristen definitely needs a rest. I maybe wouldn't feel like that if we didn't have such a mess of a 'redemption' for her that ultimately meant nothing.

It's very male heavy. Tony, EJ, Chad, Jake. And then their ladies, of course. But still. I miss you Lexie!

    Paging Sydney DiMera ...

Yeah, as much as I love Wally and Judi, there really is no story for them at this point. Unless they bring back Sonny or Mimi, or bring in their other kids, I would say maybe rest them for a little while. Have them get married and go off together.

Yep. I feel like Ron's keeping them in the off-chance they do bring on Sonny or Mimi. But at the same time, I do think it's time to rest them. This should have been that opportunity to send them off. I actually thought they were.

I'd have Mimi back personally for the Phloe/Brady triangle instead of Kristen being wasted on them (sometimes I wonder if Ron thinks similarly but then can't pull it off so we get weaker stories as a result). But I don't see them making the effort to recast Mimi for the main show. It's likely Farah or nobody.

  9. Didn't see a reason to start a new thread but looking like Karla Mosley is the new Jordan Ashford.

    LOL.

They should have just killed Jordan off.

I think she can pull it off better than Henry did, who was a very basic replacement for Antoine. But I just see no need anymore. Frank can't let go of 'his' characters.

Jordan sparked because of Vinessa Antoine. You had your leading lady right there.

    I wonder when it's announced?

  10. 3 minutes ago, AbcNbc247 said:

She should be. She is a legacy character after all. Hell, I don't even mind Liz and Finn, but at least let her do more, include her in Cam's storyline or the search for Hayden.

But it's clear who the favorites are. I'm surprised we haven't seen an FOF (Friends of Frank) list compiled yet 😂

Yep. They could very easily give her more to do. I didn't give a damn about Friz so I don't care about that perspective but she should at least have one.

  11. I know Stefan was 'the good one' - until he went nutso - (I wouldn't hate him back, personally, at this point ... lol) but it makes sense to me that Nikolas is so spectacularly shitty and Spencer is such a hot mess. I love it.

    4 minutes ago, AbcNbc247 said:

Yeah, Idk why but Frank clearly does not like Liz, or Rebecca Herbst, in general

He really doesn't seem too. It was Dan/Chris who seemed to praise Liz and want her as a center on the show. Frank doesn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about the GH 'stars'. He wants his own 'stars'.

It's like he hears what fans wants and then punishes them. You want more Liz? You hated her propping Franco? Well here's Liz propping Finn (who doesn't need it; Anna did that) instead of using her literally anywhere else where it makes sense. It's just so bizarre.

And now they're trolling us with her daddy. It's Frank with the Lucy football again ... unless it's really a Finn story. Like how Liz's rapist going free was a Franco story.

With the uneven production and dog stories (Bonnie, Chloe), I have to binge the week. I tried streaming daily or even two episodes, doesn't work for me.

JE is an immensely skilled actor, but c'mon with this out-of-the-blue 'murder' followed by like 2 episodes in 6 weeks featuring her. There's no reason for Bonnie/Adrienne or Justin (Salem's worst lawyer) to be on.

Have EJ serve as the resident go-to lawyer - he'll get clients off and find a way to get something out of it. I still have no idea of the logic behind having EJ turn against Xander for something that wasn't his fault. That's just horrid writing, but I suspect it's production-related and blocking certain actors together.

For me I'm finding binging is best but it's still hard to care about a lot of what's going on.

  13. Liz? Who's this Liz person?

    LOL

Seriously though ... she's so wasted it's really sad. As 'unused' as Alexis is at the moment even she gets far more to 'work with'. I'd take Liz with literally anyone else at this point listening to them.

They even trolled us with a Jeff call

Must be to tell Liz he's dying off-screen or something. Maybe he has Hayden who they seem determined to never bring back. I refuse to give in and believe it goes anywhere LOL

“So, you’re taking Jason away from us?”

    Oh, F—k you Carly

And I see that Michael’s being shady. At least it’s finally something interesting for him to do lol

I feel like they're really going in deep with Carly's "ownership" of Jason. LOL. Like trolling levels. Not in a 'we want to explore this storyline' levels.

FINALLY they heard us on Michael (probably not). But I imagine Willow will whine and pout. Michael will cringe and look serious and all will be well as they plan a picnic with Nina. I'd love to be wrong. Gimme the drama dammit.

Michael should be a good guy, I like the 'Jason' part of him, truthfully, but he's capable of being so much more. He should be doing exactly what they're having him do. As stupid as it is. What grounds could they get Nina on? It reeks of petty stupidness but at least it's something. He should always feel 'torn' from doing petty BS and doing the right thing.

I know kids aren't "always like their parents" but damn, Michael is the son of Carly and AJ, two of the most self destructive people ever ... Michael shouldn't be a vanilla wafer.

  15. LOL Susan with Johnny writes itself. Ron must have gotten distracted by MarDevil.

I agree she did a good job with 'Kristen as Susan'. She felt more like 'Kristen' at times to me. She's capable of giving me a Kristen I can be content with long-term if Eileen won't commit but the writing lacks and Stacy plays her *so* differently. I'd like something different because I think it could work.

Stacy did well with "Shoot The Bride" (even if it was a bit campier than Eileen's Kristen would have been) and even with the 'Kristen as Nicole' stuff. It's there. But they write FOR Eileen as Kristen. They don't write Stacy AS Kristen. If that makes *any* sense. I wish I could explain it better. They have (though I imagine Shoot The Bride was written with Eileen in mind)

They really need to push the Tripp/Johnny rivalry. That could cause problems for all four of them. The quad themselves has been kind of sidelined since the movie stuff began, which I get but I don’t think that’ll last too long. What would be really great to see is a storyline that has to do with the circumstances around Johnny’s conception.

    Agreed.

Ron also was stupid being so short-sighted with Charlie.
