  1. At least things are FINALLY happening on this show again. Diane's return has proven to reinvigorate the show in a way I didn't expect. They need to invest in Susan Walters long-term.

I still have no interest in who is running what company. I don't understand why the writers think revolving jobs at ill-defined corporations is interesting for the viewer. It was different back in the day with Jabot. We saw people at work in their offices, things HAPPENED at the office, and it tied a lot of characters together. I don't give a flip about who's the new CEO for Chance Com-Newman-Winters-Hamilton. What do these companies even do???

  2. I found the twist with Eric and Donna to be a huge surprise! I kinda buy it though. I'm just glad Quinn and Carter are getting more airtime. They have such great chemistry. The illy-defined character of Paris is a dud no matter who they pair her with. No fault of the actress, but we're just told OVER AND OVER (in B&B style) about how wonderful she is but not shown why which makes it hard to invest. It was similar with Zoe.

This Mariah/Tessa wedding planning is so saccharine and a waste of time (straight outta Hallmark Channel). And then there’s all the discussion about Faith and Moses choosing where to go to college. This show at least needs humor if they’re not going to play conflict, and this all plays like children’s TV.

It's time for a new...and credible...threat to come between Mariah and Tessa...another woman would be awesome.

I wish they would've made Mia a sister instead of Rey's ex-wife. It seemed like they were going to make her the next generation Jill Foster. Imagine if she would be the one who took care of the family while the father left, and mother worked all of the time. And she sacrificed her hopes and ambitions so the rest of her siblings could have theirs. She could've come onto the canvas as someone who finally wants her dreams to come true come hell or high water.

I just hope this is an actual long story and not something that is over in two weeks aka the Josh Grifith Why and Are Special.

I agree about Mia. I really liked her actually, and I also thought she gave off young Jill Foster vibes.

If TPTB we smart, they'd realize we need characters who aren't rich and are "restless" wanting to improve their lot in life. Right now, almost everyone is rich which is so boring. I've been watching one of the British soaps, Hollyoaks, for a bit now, and it amazes me how diverse the cast is and the characters. I think the heads now are too scared to take any of the risks soaps used to be famous for, but if they're going to survive they need to make them more contemporary.

Jack has always acted as though Kyle was his ONLY son.

PB should be thrilled if they're expanding the Abbott family in any way at this point...and it would be great to actually see more diversity. This is 2021. I'd rather that they'd bring on his hot grandson though versus a love interest for sleepy Noah though. :)

I know the Rosales clan didn't set the world on fire, but this show desperately needs a new core family OR families! How many times can a Newman marry an Abbott? It's like the Horton/Bradys on DAYS at this point. It's just one big incestuous family now. And, it would be great to have some characters who weren't already billionaires for contrast!

I liked Gwen when she was first introduced as Claire's friend in the psych ward.

I liked her, too. I also liked the reveal about her being Jack's daughter and the Abigail rivalry. But, then the story stalled when Abby wasn't on full-time and budget restraints limitied everyone's appearances.

I feel like a lot of the stories of that era on Y&R (from the initial Adam story to Cane as the imposter P3) seemed promising on paper. But MAB and her co-writers (Hamner, Sheffer, JG) lacked the skill to execute them without devolving into cheap camp.

I hated how they eventually took Patty past the place of no return. The actress did such an amazing job with the character and was so engaging! I wish they would have kept Patty as someone who was a bit off and eccentric. She could have had long-term viability that way.

On another note, I wish I could have been in the writer's room at Y&R when they came up with the beyond convoluted Abby/Chance/Devon/Mariah surrogacy story. On what planet did this seem like a good idea???

Believe it or not there biggest complaint was about the whole Roman/Andre/Tony face mask stuff as whoever wrote the article said the story became ridiculous. 🤣

And here we are, with nonstop masks on the show yet again.

Phillip's death was a great story. A real tragedy, Jill and Kay losing in a car accident another Phillip they both loved. TB was great as the shy, awkward, sensitive boy and that's where the story should have ended. No Cane, no Gay Witness Protection Program.

Definitely...the return of Phillip was a complete bust. If they had to give Jill another child, they could have just said Jill actually gave birth to twins, and Katherine stole one of them.

OK, but we can agree this one was a huge bomb, and an illogical attempt to prop up an unpopular actor (at least I've never read anyone asking for more of RKK).

I can see where bringing him on AW was a good idea on paper. He had just had a highly successful run on DAYS as Bo (even thought they replaced him for the original). They should have just brought him back as Sam Fowler, and it would have made so much more sense.

Man, oh MAN! I really wish that they had gone with a natural Lionel/Sophia affair instead of TJ/Sophia.  It would have kept Nicholas Coster on the show, and been a better triangle. No one was rooting for TJ and Sophia.

I often wonder why they never went there with Lionel and Sophia. That could have been a long-term traingle.

Robert Newman is already 3,000 times better than RB, and I’m only 15 minutes in. Burgi was so wooden, as if he were reading his lines. RN makes the stodgy dialogue come alive.

I thought RN was pretty good, too. I think he'll settle easily into the role.

Otherwise....today on The Middle-Aged and the Bored.

It’s just lazy af. This show can bring on Jasmine Guy and Jackée trading barbs and slaps, have Dan Feuerriegel and Paul Telfer butt-booty naked mud wrestling, and have bisexual interracial love triangles out the wazoo, and this show would still be an unsatisfying viewing experience with all this mask bs.  It’s all sizzle and no steak.

Next up, Lucas wears a Sami mask and "breaks up" with EJ causing him to have sex with "Belle" who is actually Maggie in a mask!

  12. 17 hours ago, Darn said:

Would it have been so bad to have Shawn actually cheat on Belle? This just looks so silly.

Exactly! THIS. All the masks and the devil changing into other people is just a quick and easy way to stir up conflict without having it be generated naturally through character development. Because of that it's hard to be invested in the story at all.

One big problem is that this show hasn’t done the greatest job at tying Zende to the Forresters. His scenes are almost all separate from his adopted family. Like would they care?

I wonder if Grace will have any role other than spoiler for Carter and Paris. It just feels forced to me, like they needed a story for this part of the canvas and didn’t really think it through. It would have felt more organic for Quinn to have some buyer’s remorse over sticking with Eric and feel uncomfortable witnessing Paris (who ratted Quinn out to Brooke) growing closer to Carter. But John McCook and Rena Sofer haven’t been seen much, so I’m assuming it’s just a general availability issue.

I'm really hoping they put Grace in other characters' orbits as well.

I'm still not getting the whole why Paris is so wonderful thing. Again, we're told it, but not shown it. I think something that would jumpstart the story would be to bring back Reign Edwards as Nicole. She was such a great actress and completely squandered by the end. But, bringing her back as Zende's ex could liven the mix.

The hyperfocus on two...and sometimes only one...story do hamper the show quite a bit. Stories were much more balanced in the 80s and 90s. Even on a thirty minute show there's a way to spread out the story to utilize more of the cast. Much of B&B is characters simply repeating the same dialogue over and over. Often, there's just one storyline happening and it's all anyone can talk about. When you're not into THAT story, there's no reason to watch.

I've been watching on of the British soaps, Hollyoaks for a few months. It's a half-hour show, but there's probably at least 35 characters and many stories happening at once which makes you not want to miss an episode.

It seems true that RSW is no longer taping at Days. He's gone!

    Dreams do come true!!

PLEEEAAAASSEEEE let this be true. Absolutely nothing against the actors...they performed what was written...but Ciara was forever ruined by this coupling. I could never buy her falling in love with an actual serial killer OR that he's allowed to walk around free since he's on meds. I know it's DAYS, and we have to suspend a lot of reality but this was too much for me. What really sucks is that Ciara had SO MUCH potential, and I'll always believe that Theo should have been her true love since previous writers set that up even when they were kids.

Over the years, I just couldn't stomach all the characters, such as Marlena, who were used to "prop Ben" and to try and make us okay with the fact that he was a "reformed serial killer." If they had to keep the actor, they should have made him a twin or a look alike, and I would have been okay with situation.

  16. If it is Abby, I'll be very disappointed as she's been the most promising heroine they've developed in years. If neither actress wanted to commit long-term, they should have just recast. Look at how many successful Carlys GH has had, so it can be done.

However, this is DAYS. How many people have come back from the dead...and multiple times...so it's too hard to take it seriously.
