  1. I'm weirdly intrigued by it, but hoo boy. This has the potential to BACK. FIRE.

I, too, am going to need some more listens before I have a firm opinion of it.

I really feel that she has songs on her debut album--some that she wrote at as young as 12 years old--that are MUCH better written than almost anything else in her career, and that at the end of the day, her best album will probably actually be considered to be Speak Now. That's what I think it should be, anyway.

Love the album title and cover!! Nobody guessed "Reputation" as a title.  That album cover is dark and edgy (it's so different from Taylor's bright colours)......could I be getting my rock album already?  LOL  And it looks like the first single is a whopping 8:47 long! If that's true, there will probably be a radio edit because no way a song that long will play on the radio.  November 10 is way later than I expected.  Wonder why it wasn't a late October release.

Fearless DID come out November 11th, 2008. :)

I have a lot to say right now, but some of you won't like all of it, and I don't feel like getting shanked by a hardcore group of Swifties right now, so I'll just focus on the music for now, and hope it's really good. I'll leave whatever rage I may have for later on.  :P:lol:

Speaking of things I hated - there are a bunch of new OLTL promos up on YT from 1992 and they've reminded me how much I loathed Luna. The show pushed Max & Luna so shamelessly it semi-hilarious. You WILL love this couple. They ARE you're favorite. Luna "crossing over to the other side" to save Max was OLTL at its worst for me.

AMEN. Gabrielle will ALWAYS be Max's one true love to me.

Didn't Pam Long create Lindsay rappaport as well?  I think she was the one to have Lindsay and Clint marry..and it was a promising story....then all of a sudden..they broke up..and I wonder if the sudden shift in Lindsays character had to do with Pam Long leaving..and Jill being the defacto headwriter?

Yes, I'm pretty sure PL created Lindsay.

And, to be honest, even though I like Nora overall, I have always more or less liked Lindsay. I LOVED the story where she went to Statesville, and she and Allison Perkins were trying to figure out how to escape together.

Was Jill the only defacto HW? I read that other writers like Gillian Spencer were interim HWs in 1999 too

She was, for almost all of 1999 after Pam Long was let go (although apparently Harding Lemay was consulting her in some way, somehow). ABC finally forced her to hire someone near the end of 1999, so she brought on Megan McTavish as her lap dog, er I mean her HW.

Not how long it was. I mean how was it compared to her other soap stints

She was the one there when Todd punched Tea in the face, which makes me think JFP snuck that in or something, because I could only see Pam Long writing something like that if she intended to break a couple up afterwards, not, you know, actually get married again (I know, that blew up at the reception, but still).

Pam has said that it was hard caise ABC was always on her and Harding Lemay who was a consultant at the time

I thought Harding Lemay only became a consultant once Jill became de facto HW in 1999. I could be wrong, though.

Either would have been fine.  I voted Northam.  Having grown up in this Commonwealth I truly hope we've turned a corner and don't go back anytime soon.  15-20 years ago someone said to me - you're the South.  You're the Capitol of the South, you're Virginia!  You'll always be Republican!  I said *uck you.  We're also the most Southern State closest in proximity to the North.  You have no idea what we are capable of.  Go Virginia!

My state--Maryland--would like to have a word with you on that one.

There seems to have been a shooting in Virginia - a Congressman was hit and so were some aides.

    Anyone around there stay safe...

Steve Scalise was the Congressman shot.

Regardless of how divided our country is, violence is NEVER the answer. I hope everyone injured there, and especially Congressman Scalise, makes a quick recovery.

    This is very touching.

Northam won and Perriello handled it like a grownup.

Tom Perriello is a good guy, and I think he can still run for another office someday and win.

Meanwhile, the GOP race is a dead heat. I completely take back what I said about Gillespie running away with it. I KNEW that might bite me in the ass. -_-

Here's the website Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP), which includes maps of support for each candidate. Perfect for the political nerd in your life like myself. :D

It looks like most of the media is spinning it as Bernie vs Hillary, yet again. From what I've read Northam is expected to win because he spent a lot more money.

It's...not a perfect comparison. For one, Tom has quite a few people supporting him who supported Hillary, who are IN NO WAY Bernie Bros (both people who specifically worked for her and people in VA that I know personally).

But honestly, I'm Team Switzerland here. I'm happy with either one.

  9. Happy Primary Day, Virginia! I really hope this race gets more attention now that the primary will be over after tonight, because, as I've said before, the post-Trump election season (not just special elections) really begins this year, not 2018, and Virginia's gubernatorial race is proof of that. It is, by far, the most high profile example of a state that has elections of some form or another every year, due to the amendment in the state constitution barring sitting Governors from seeking another term in office. (They CAN, however, seek NON-consecutive terms in office--some have tried in the past.) For some weird reason, though, Lieutenant Governors CAN seek consecutive terms. Not sure why the difference exists there, but there you go.

From what I understand, the real thing to watch tonight--perhaps to no one's surprise--is which of the Democratic candidates wins Northern Virginia (the GOP candidate is all but assured at this point). Ralph Northam--who is from the Eastern Shore of VA--has bases in Metro Richmond and Hampton Roads (which is close to the Eastern Shore), while Tom Perriello, from the Charlottesville area, has his bases in the area known as the Southside (the part of VA south of the James River--Lynchburg, home of the infamous Liberty University, is located there--and this area is really just south of Charlottesville), Southwest (which includes Blacksburg, home of Virginia Tech), and the Shenandoah Valley area. Northern Virginia is the wild card. And I can't help but wonder, with how Democratic NOVA has increasingly become, if that just might be enough for either Dem to carry the state, as both Obama and Hillary did. Especially since Ed Gillespie doesn't exactly strike me as a candidate with much appeal (but with the GOP candidates who have won office recently, what do I know now?).

Luckily, for me, since I'm next door in Maryland, AND I get DC stations, that makes it even easier for me to keep track of the race tonight, :D

  10. I'll admit that I've been a fan of Bill Maher since I was in college--I started watching him regularly in 2009, when I was 20--and while this season has made me even more frustrated than ever before, I really can't believe he went that far. Interestingly enough, he and Kathy Griffin (who I also love, for the record, and who I feel deserves WAY less vitriol than she's gotten, especially compared to what Bill did--not that I agree with she did, mind you) have been friends for years, and I almost want to believe he did this intentionally to get the heat off of her (almost). Either way, he was VERY stupid and tone deaf to say it at all. The fact that BOTH of them have now apologized--something both have publicly boasted about NOT doing in the past, in terms of their comedy--is pretty damn telling.

Also, hi, guys. Sorry I haven't been around in awhile. Even though I love and am involved with politics, sometimes even I get overwhelmed. And I was afraid at times that my at times very Pollyanna-like outlook about the future might get in the way in legitimate worry (I have to stay somewhat positive, though--the alternative would eat me alive). I do love you guys, though, and will try to keep up more with this thread again.

They say one shouldn't speak ill of the dead, so I'll just conclude by saying "No words".

Or, to paraphrase Bette Davis' quote upon Joan Crawford's passing:

    "Roger Ailes is dead. Good."

  12. I honestly think he would be a strong candidate, but as this article points out, that's assuming if he ever wants to make the jump into politics.

But I promise I won't comment on this past posting this article, unless one of you asks a question/something actually happens regarding this in the future.. With my admittedly strong pro-Dem and pro-Cub bias, you guys have earned the right to either ignore me or beat me over the head with a frying pan for bringing this up.

This is really embarrassing, but I used to have a HUGE crush on Tucker Carlson despite myself when I was a teenager, despite disagreeing with almost everything he said even then. I thought he was so cute. Now I just wish someone would choke him with his bow tie.

My former Governor made him his bitch in an interview a few months ago, though. It was glorious.

I am honestly shocked. But I guess the power of money talks. Fox lost over 100 advertisers from what I understand including Monsanto, which is one I never expected.

I am sure here is a job waiting for him either at CNN or in the current administration.

    The current administration? Yes.

CNN? Not to sound too un-cynical to be here (I need to work on it more!), but I genuinely don't think so, even if it's just because of the sponsors he lost.

I asked Susie Bedsow Horgan that question on FB. Here is her answer: "You know I don't remember. Could have been but I really have no idea. Sorry!"

Thank you! I have a feeling they did, though. The timeline is too coincidental otherwise.

Not surprised that the GOP won the Kansas seat again. Kansas is so fiercely red that I didn't expect it to turn anyways. What I am happy about is that the Democrat almost won that seat by a small margin. Trust & believe that the GOP are quaking in the boots at the moment b/c traditionally red districts in red states are gradually starting to lose ground with people. Also, they know that they might not be so lucky when it comes to the 6th district here in GA. Unlike Kansas, GA is gradually becoming a purple state as time passes. I think that Ossoff is gonna win the seat next week.

Kansas being in such disarray because of Brownback may lead to changes in spite of this loss, though. It may go back and forth between sudden (there were some Democratic gains there in the legislature last year) and gradual.

They love war. It makes them feel "important," because they can take on the moral perch they last had in any reality during Vietnam, and they are deluded enough to believe that someone actually looks to them for guidance.

Williams is probably happy to get to have new stories to make up too...

If you haven't read Dan Rather's post, please do. He has been an oasis of common sense and thought since the last presidential election.

What really, really surprises me is that Scott DeFrietas didn't make a return at some point. Between Chris' illness, Julianne's return and Nancy's death...and the fact his wife still worked there...you'd think someone might have at least thought to ask him.

Ask James & Kassie DePaiva how that worked out when OLTL left ABC in 2012. Yep, still bitter.

(JDP was on the show WAY before KDP, and despite fan interest in bringing him back for the end, wasn't never even asked to return. So it's sort of similar to the Maura and Scott situation here.)

Anyway, I was just passing by of curiosity here, and noticed that. Carry on. :)

ETA: I lied. One more thing. :D

The idea about Tom & Margo and their various and sundry actors passing through sounds great, but with HBS still on OLTL at the time, securing that for her, even for a few seconds/minutes, might have been impossible.

    Thanks

I wish OLTL had not killed off Beth Garvey in 1994. She was good with Jason plus MB was leaving anyway so they should have left town

Plus Beth is River's bio Mom that could have been utilized for story over the year

Also Beth didnt like Todd, she was scared of him

There were rumors that Todd was River's Dad but I dont remember if OLTL ever fully addressed who was the bio dad

I've mentioned this before, but I've always assumed that the name River was a tribute to River Phoenix (at least on the part of the writing staff). The timeline between his death and Cassie discovering River at St. James is just too close to be a mere coincidence. It's not like his name really took off for baby boys until after he died.
