  1. I'm loving the Rodwells, the Varga-Murphys and Nell and Hugo. It's great to see the show back with established families, they moved away from the big family dynamics in the last couple of years and it became fragmented, this is definitely Neighbours back at its best. I hope it lasts.

Good on Hugo for being a good fella and going against Nell for her deception. These recast kids are doing amazing, and it is nice seeing the "younger" cast being used for story progression. Sad seeing Harold suffer, though, and hate seeing Nell go against Terese.

Thus far, this revival feels familiar, yet brand-new at the same time. They're doing it right.

Agree. They're doing so well with it.

I try to watch but don't feel a lot of connection to characters or stories - there's a certain heart missing. There are also attempts at being "cute" that annoy me as they seem to go against history (like Sonia loving true crime even though her ex-partner was murdered by a serial killer).

I agree about the lack of heart. I think it's just reached a natural conclusion now. I don't want it to end, but I think it needs radical changes like getting rid of some of the stalwarts (I'm thinking Phil, Kat, Stacey) but they'll never do that so it's holding the show back. I still really hate this version of Ben too, and there's generally not enough nice characters in it. I think I'll start enjoying it more when Sam Mitchell is back. She's currently a big character in the 2004 repeat on Drama, and I'm enjoying that a lot more.

Also something I noticed was that Neighbours was trending on twitter here in Australia this afternoon. I normally don’t think much of twitter trends, but this doesn’t happen. None of the 4 episodes last week did decent ratings (Top 20 shows) in any category. So to see the show actually being talked about by an Aussie audience is so refreshing.

That's good news, I wonder if the ratings will be better in Australia this week. It's the Number 1 show on Amazon Freevee UK at the moment.

I know playing opposite the likes of Helen Mirren on Prime Suspect is no patch on Kellie Bright, but he has been around the block a time or two!

I think this just shows that resume doesn't mean you're going to work in every role, he's really paled in his role as George IMO.

  6. They apparently couldn't be bothered to hire decent actors to play the Knights, Gina's the only one who works. And the decast Peter is a bit hit and miss.

At the moment, the highlights are Kathy and Nu-Old Peter having decent family chemistry, and Cindy and Gina's family chemistry. I hope they're all axed eventually except Cindy and Gina.

Clay Milner-Russell as Bobby has blown everyone else out of the water.

Anyone have any information about the change in sets that happened? Jumping from 2014 to 2018, and almost all sets were changed, etc. Was there a budget increase, or?

They were probably just trying get the aesthetics right. During the Bower era (2008-2012) the show went through a real struggle visually and the sets and lighting were really poor. So from 2013-2018 they were constantly trying to make the show look more contemporary and bring it into the 21st century. It worked overall.

She is definitely a soap opera vixen that shakes up the canvas so well.  A not-so quick pop into the Square was just what was needed.  A true thorn in Susan's side, all while up to the same tricks.  But it wasn't as predictable as it could have been, and I love that.  A long-term stay would be such a wrong move.  Hoping she pops in during this new revival.

I am hoping she married Shane and he died in the interim, so she can return as Izzy Ramsay. Would be epic.
