My thing is , if WGA has an issue with writers using that option, why give it as an option?

WGA, doesn't have a choice. A 1963 Supreme Court ruling established that workers can not be compelled to join a union as a condition of employment, but they still can be compelled to pay their share of dues aka Fi-Core.  Any business that is unionized, a worker can chose to go Fi-Core if they want to. We just hear about it mostly with the entertainment industry.  In fact that original SCOTUS ruling was a case between General Motors vs the UAW. If unions had their way, that SCOTUS ruling would be overturned and going Fi-Core wouldn't be allowed.

  2. I've seen several people on my social media that are members of the DGA that plan to vote against the deal, but I have no clue how representative that antidotal evidence is of DGA members as a whole.

Very nice to read how strong the strike vote was for SAG-AFTRA. They seem very motivated.

  3. I wish they'd recast Johnny Carter and pair him up with Callum. I like Callum and he deserves better than to be saddled with the vile Ben Mitchell for all eternity. I miss how he used to interact with the Carters and now there's only Linda left. I loved his bond with Stuart, who has also left the show.  All gone and now stuck with Ben in a boring cycle of misery porn.

Everyone was thrown off by Fen introducing Trey as his boyfriend. So Fen hadn't communicated this by phone with Lauren or Michael off screen either.

When Fen introduced Trey as his boyfriend. Michael said to Trey "It's fantastic to finally meet you in person at last." That implies Michael and Lauren already knew Fen was gay and had a boyfriend, but hadn't met him.  Gloria, Kevin, and Chloe for sure all looked like they were hearing it for the first time.

  5. Even though we might not ever see Fen again for another 5 years, I am glad the show made him gay. Ideally, we should have saw him explore his sexuality and come to terms with it on screen. Missed opportunity.  The show can make up for it by investing in him as a character going forward, but I'm sure they won't, they'll stick to the same old [!@#$%^&*] instead.

I suspect we are going to hear the term "Discharge petition" a lot over the next 2 years. Will be just about the only way anything will pass in the House.

No idea if this is true will come to pass, but hilarious if the "moderate Rs" do end up watering down some of these promises McCarthy made.

  7. DAYS should be ashamed at how they've wasted Zach Tinker. People fell in love with him as Sonny after just 1 Beyond Salem episode. For a recast to be accepted so quickly, doesn't happen all the time. After nearly a year on the mothership, nothing to show for it. They've done nothing with him. I don't get it. The only thing I can think of is DAYS is either too afraid to split up Sonny and Will  or too afraid to recast Will.

I get the last Will recast was a disaster, but it's also clear Chandler is never coming back full time. Will's too important of a character to just be popping in for 3-4 episodes every 6 months.

If they don't want to do that, give Sonny a real new love interest. Someone that people actually like and can root for (IE not Leo). Almost every other couple has been given opportunities to break up, cheat, etc...why has Sonny and Will not been afforded the same?

Ron when he explained why he killed off Abby said couples where one half is full time and one half is on recurring is too hard to write for, yet despite Sonny and Will being the same boat, hasn't done anything about it.

I can help but think if DAYS was a UK soap the Will/Sonny/Chad story would be a major front burner. When confronted with the amazing chemistry between Zack, Chandler and Billy Flynn and combining the complex deep-rooted history all three characters shares with one another, a smart writer and producer would be exploiting that for storylines. The scenario is so good and complicated it could literally write itself. Here you have Chad mourning the death of his wife. He turns to his best friend for comfort and emotional support. As he's getting that comfort, much to his surprise, he's beginning to develop feelings towards Sonny. Feelings that he finds strange but not that all discomforting despite the fact he very much regards himself as straight. At first Sonny is oblivious but soon he becomes aware of it. At first Sonny tries to be rational about the situation, saying that Chad is only having these feelings towards him because of his loneliness. But as time goes on and Chad's feelings become stronger, Sonny begins crumbling, especially b/c he himself is feeling a sense of loneliness with Will being gone. Not to mention there has always been this playful, non-threatening platonic sexual tension between Chad and Sonny. Now that Chad seems to be having feelings for Sonny it's no longer non-threatening nor platonic. It's becoming very real, and it isn't long before both men are exploring their feelings emotionally and just as they are about to explore it physically, that's when Will shows up. And seeing how well Will knows his husband and his best friend, it doesn't take him long to figure out what's going on between them. Of course he's going to feel hurt and betrayed and naturally he's going to fight for his marriage. But at the same time, Will is surprisingly overcome with feelings of jealousy - jealousy that Chad would somehow prefer Sonny over him. And that is just scratching the surface. The complications of this storyline could easily be played out for months

That is pretty much the exact same story that's been in my head for months. This would WAY better than anything else happening right now.

    Regarding the Sonny/Will/Leo story...

I'm of two minds in this regard...

On one hand I totally understand Will's reaction and it's a completely justified reaction. After what Leo has done to Sonny, why in the hell would Sonny what to have anything to do with him? It makes no rational sense and no matter how much the show wants to twist it around the idea of Sonny being friends with Leo is just plain stupid. Yeah, Sonny has always been a person who always tries to see the good in people...but c'mon...this is taking it to the extreme. I was glad when Will walked out on Sonny when Sonny decided it was more important to keep his promise to Leo over his husband's completely understandable request for Leo to leave.

    But on the other hand...

How exactly is Will in the position at being upset over Sonny's new "friendship" with Leo when Will himself is friends with Ben Weston? I mean for all of Leo's flaws and reckless behavior it doesn't even come close to matching the level of violence Ben did to towards Will. And don't give me this crap "But oh Ben was sick." that still doesn't take away his actions and the emotional pain that came from it. And yet Will forgave him, was best man at his wedding and had a "tearful" goodbye scene when Ben left Salem and so on and so forth. I mean if Will can forgive Ben - which of course makes absolutely no sense - then Sonny should be able to forgive and be friends with Leo?

Now that being said the idea of Sonny and Will having any type of relationship with Leo or Ben is just completely stupid. At this point I completely understand why the show wrote Wilson off. They have no idea what to write for this couple outside of dumb crap.

Now that all being said let's take a moment to enjoy the yummiest that is Zack Tinker (Sonny)😍

I agree with all of this. Well said!  This story is SO stupid. I thought Zach and Chandler did a great job with the material today, it's been ages since we had them is a good argument, too bad it was about Leo.

This Sonny from the past few weeks, is NOT Sonny. His friendship with Leo is not believable. The man sexually assaulted him. That is just not something Sonny should forgive.  Sonny threatening to give up his CEO job and picking Leo to stay over Will? Does the show think we are morons?

I did like Sonny bringing Will's cheating past back and he should have also brought up Will befriending his killer Ben (which was equally as bad and ridiculous), but other than that, it's hard to side with Sonny and Leo here. If Sonny is so worried about Leo being homeless, he could have just paid his hotel bill.

This story would work so much better if it was Paul instead of Leo. That's a triangle that'd actually work. Alternatively, the show should have revealed Chad was bisexaul and explored Sonny and Chad after Abby died. Will coming home to see Sonny with Chad would have been WAY better and more interesting. The Chad/Stephanie/Alex triangle is dreadful too, none of those three have any chemistry.

  10. Regardless of who wins the House, if the majority is only 1-2 seats, these next two years are going to be ungovernable. First, Congresspeople miss votes for lots of reasons. If McCarthy follows through and gets rid of proxy voting and forces members to be physically present to vote, guess what's going to happen when a couple of people's flight's get delayed or cancelled...

Then there is vacancies, due to health, death, resignation, etc.  Vacancies in the House are MUCH more common than the Senate. In fact, I think few people realize, this current Congress has had at least 1 vacant seat almost every day. Hell it started out with a vacant seat because someone died between the election in November 2020 and when Congress was sworn in, in January 2021.

Then there is the split between the MAGA wing of the GOP and those the more moderates that aren't' nut jobs.

If I was the Dems, I'd be looking at the Alaskan legislature. What happened there was even though the Republicans have the most seats, because their party was so split, the Moderate Republicans formed a coalition with the Democrats and they've had a majority for a few years now. That's what I'd try to do, those Republicans that won in CA and NY in areas that Biden won, they likely going to lose their seat or be primaried by the MAGA wing in 2024 anyways. Make a few promises to them, find a moderate that can be a caretaker speaker for 2 years. Otherwise it's going to be a HOT mess.

  11. So Zach did an impromptu live stream on his twitch today. He said he was waiting for a costume fitting for something he is filming. I'm 99% sure from the buildings in the background, he's at the Burbank Studios where DAYS films. Make of that what you will.
