  1. Just to clarify, I don’t want the kind of constant, misogynistic rivalries between women that dominated the Guza era of the show. Or the men. What I want is the natural disagreements and temperaments that exist in the real world and on the show in the past. Sonny is volatile. Tracy should be calculating and also at times a snob. The list could go on. It feels increasingly like GH IRL is a nice place to work with lovely people, and that has bled over onscreen.
  2. The Sonny/Nina thing is indicative of the issues the whole show has. It’s too genial, safe, and lacks stakes. The characters are all too nice. Even Cary and Drew’s crime was boring that the angst is based on! Some quick thoughts- when Sonny is angry with a partner, especially if betrayal is on the table, he is pretty much abusive in his treatment of them. That’s the real Sonny. That’s what is missing with Nina. Carly and Sonny getting along with Ava makes little sense. Ava could still have relationships like with Nikolas and Trina even, but still be her psychotic self underneath. Carly and Liz should have been at each other over their kid’s issues and Liz keeping Esme secret. That’s who Carly is. There should be someone on the canvas that is not cool with Aiden Webber’s sexuality, preferably that nightmare brat Charlotte like they set up all those years ago, especially since his brother is interested in her. One of the things I loved in Genie’s scenes last week with Kevin, Sonny, and Cyrus was she played anger. She doesn’t care if Laura is always perfect or likable.
  3. Who can keep track of all these kids from Maxie and Sam?
  4. And yet, more romantic than what we are getting now lol.
  5. I don’t think it’s all her doing. He also had a child and they may both have those feelings about their families. I don’t need them rolling around in the sheets. But give us something. Longing looks, intensity, romantic kissing. They could easily do all that. And if Josh is cool with being shirtless, give us him without a shirt the morning after sitting at the kitchen table with her in a chaste nightgown, with the look. Tousled hair, that kind of look people give each other after great sex between them. There are plenty of ways to sell romance without them dry humping. Genie Francis was able to do a lot of heavy lifting to make Tony Geary seem undeniable before they paired them, just with her tortured eyes. I know that was a long time ago, and they were very talented. But still!
  6. It is strange because in her first run, you could argue that sometimes she was even quite cold. And it worked for me and made Anna a far more credible spy than Robert. Anna is probably my favorite GH character, so her crying over that wimp Valentine was just laughable.
  7. Between the Lois/Sonny talk and the Anna/Sonny stuff I am afraid for two of my favorite leading ladies. Please spare them and us those potential pairings. When Anna said she could handle Sonny all I thought was noooooooo!
  8. Not entirely accurate. Their HR director is named, which means documents and possibly testimony from Sony will be required. But they are not named as defendants.
  9. Thank you for posting the link to the legal docs. We already knew it was rough there but reading it made me angry for them all over again, and sad that they had to endure that. The contract part might be hard to prove, but there is so much documentation already about the discrimination. Including Ken not doing anything about it until they got fed up and went public.
  10. It was posted earlier that she appears to have retired and is living outside of the the country. I would love for her to return though. I also remembered him being at OLTL longer than he was, thanks for the clarification!
  11. If anything, he was happy to be used consistently! He complains when they have nothing for him. This whole strange episode is starting to remind me of posters from years gone by, like way old school days. The folks that always had sources that were just spilling stuff that was very fannish. And their favorite weapon was threatening to withhold their source. Let me just ask a question- now that so many are accessible online, why would they rehash this behind the scenes stuff with a non peer that just runs off and posts it around the internet? Because other overly involved people then go right back to them to ask if it is true. Soap fans are just wild sometimes. I think many soap people invented the parasocial thing.
  12. I forgot Demorest was at OLTL. As far as control goes, Frank did start under Paul Rauch, and was a big admirer of his. And Rauch was very hands on when it came to writing after Lemay at AW. Very hands on.
  13. It’s too bad this guy is scorched earth for me, because I don’t think he is doing a bad job at all. He’s just ridiculously miscast as Jagger.
  14. We will see once things shake out. I would be shocked if some of the people he has a history working well with are not added to the writing team. We can all dream of Curlee, but more likely to me would be Demorest, who was part of the team back then too. And Michele Val Jean would be lovely, but I can’t begrudge her the stability of B&B. Maybe he can get Korte to run interference with the network and Frank.
  15. There is no way Frank Valentini would have initiated hiring a writer like Patrick Mulcahey. At no point in his history as an executive producer has he ever hired an acclaimed writer like this. He likes them controllable. And his interference has been clear several times. I do agree Frank wants the show to be successful. But we can’t ignore as much as Varni might be annoying, ABC put someone directly above Frank who immediately started telling the fans they were trying to lure them to tune back in. FV has lost some measure of control/power in these moves. I would assume some wooing took place to get PM to come out of retirement. And I would bet that the Jason umbrella storyline was being worked on as soon as they came to terms, by Korte and PM. Frank is good at inserting new material into already filmed shows, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see their work airing that soon. One last thing- official air dates mean nothing to me when it comes to GH and writers. To anyone watching, when Guza came back at the end of 1997, his fingerprints were all over the show long before his premiere week. The Alexis backstory episode with Luke was before he was credited and that was 100% Bob Guza. There were several other pieces being put into place while they burned through the outgoing writer’s material. We will know soon enough because the characters will have specificity in their scripts.
  16. Quite a few. I liked Colton’s addition to Lucy’s family, and her constantly scheming to keep Tony. Maree Cheatham as Aunt Charlene. I was a big fan of the fallout between Anna and Olivia over Duke and the Jerome’s. Anna losing her baby due to Olivia, and Anna going after her. I thought Julian was cute back then, before he came back later as a full on psychopath (both before the return under RC). And I definitely preferred Robert with Cheryl over Katherine. Lucas should have been Robert’s! My favorite story of Wes Kinney’s EP run was the Snowman story. Grant Putnam kidnaps Anna instead of his first target, Robin, and Duke and Robert go to different lengths to find out what happened and rescue her. The whole thing used to be on YouTube. Robin knows what happened but she is basically catatonic from seeing her beloved Filomena killed and her mother taken. I like that Anna wasn’t reduced to a damsel in distress even in this kind of story. I remembered it fondly as a kid and enjoyed it again on YouTube a couple of years ago.
  17. I meant the hookup and baby, not them as a couple. Once he decided to put Carly back in Jason’s orbit, it was a way to have constant drama between the brothers.
  18. It’s embarrassing to me, but people of his beliefs have proven time and again that they have zero shame or take any responsibility.
  19. Are we so sure this isn’t self-published.
  20. The outlines they used were from Guza’s exit until Culliton takes over on his own without Harris. The writers on the team tried to keep things going as close to what they had planned but eventually Culliton steered everything too far before he left. The next team was even worse. There are possibilities that some stuff carried over though. The mini story with Jax/Tracy was network dictated to set up her taking over The City. I have read conflicting reports about Laura’s presumed death, Lesley’s return, and if Guza’s team had planned that and the return when everyone was against Laura. I know as a viewer, what had become kind of messy onscreen goes off the rails not long after Laura’s return. I know AJ/Carly was not planned by Guza but it was one of the things he loved when he came back. And he certainly decided to keep Elizabeth Webber. That period has some of my favorite stories/moments. I loved Cheryl, Olivia Jerome, etc. Anna vs Olivia was a great rivalry, and the story with Grant Putnam kidnapping Anna is one of my favorite GH stories. Duke had his moments, and the push/pull was interesting to watch between Anna and his choices with the mob. It would have been even more interesting if that rift eventually caused Anna to take him down.
  21. Exactly! His child is dating a mob enforcer. His ex-wife is dating a cardboard cutout. He has stuff to do right away! I felt Jax was played out ages ago. But at least he has a real connection on the current show. Truthfully I don’t want any more of these bland people onscreen.
  22. It’s two things for me- a random name from the past to create fake nostalgia/familiarity for the audience that has near zero connection to the current show (see Jackie Templeton recast, and name dropping Jimmy Lee for Austin), and also the clear whitewashing. That’s two strikes. It’s not the actor’s fault, it’s the casting by the show. And it should not happen. And I give zero [!@#$%^&*] about ASJ or Jagger.
  23. It was during one of those periods of time Vanessa was in contact with Guza/the show, and then backed out. After her first return, it took 2 Guza attempts to lure her back, the third time she initiated it and signed for a year. If Vanessa ever wanted to come back she needs at least a 2 year contract. When they tout their incredible talent to everyone on and off the show, they better be. When they offer unsolicited advice to newer cast mates and then get pissy if they don’t do what they say or kiss the ring, again, they better be on top every day. Ask that of his other daytime peers. In the last decade his misses have been plenty. I may not have always liked the stories, but Finola Hughes and Becky Herbst have been through it propping for Frank and they never look like Mo does onscreen. Now they fish for new male partners- Drew, Brando, Dex, Morgan, etc. They gave up on the Brenda clones, bring in the lesser Jason’s!
  24. When Nikolas died the first time when Tyler left, Jon Lindstrom commented to Genie that the show really asks a lot of her compared to others, including himself. Tony Geary used to say she was only happy at work if she was practically bleeding for them. It is a shame that she’s so solid for them, and people like Maurice and Tony had more power and took it for granted more. But then again, she at least had the guts to quit several times instead of just languishing and bitching about it.
