Elton John- Tiny Dancer

Can't believe that it's been a year since notice of GL's cancellation was sent out.

Alot of the relatinships on the show at that (93-95) should have been more than what we saw on screen, including Eve and Ed IMO. Of course not one single character was ever able to replace Maureen, but the thought of Ed going from the saintly Maureen to the neurotic town outcast that was Eve, with the two of them working at Cedars as well, was material that the show simply didn't explore enough for my taste.

I never understood why the show was so blind when it came to reuniting Rick and Mindy. They would either come close to reuniting, or go their separate ways; I think the show missed a gold mine of opportunity there, esp. with Mindy's difficult pregnancy with Roger and all, and Rick wanting to be a family man.
I never knew why the show never really made MOL the lead of the show, I guess it was just the way the writers saw things. Besides, Rick was a Bauer, an adult Bauer at that.
I always thought that the show missed the boat with not making Felicia Boudreau an actual three-dimensional character rather than just someone who showed up for the holidays and what not. Despite the plethora of strong willed and independent women this show has had since its inception, they could have really built Felicia up as a well respected shrink in the community, in addition harboring some flaws herself.
The only time I was truly interested in the Boudreaux family was under Gold, lol...who were the regime that created them, which in some way was the last time the family as a whole felt real to me.

To look at that TPTB list is very saddening. I mean with the exception of the Corringtons (Were they good at the show?) Not one single writer was able to stay on the show for a year from 1980 to it's cancellation in 1986.

I just found this little gem today. It starts around 2:58 and I love the sax that plays in the background. Most likely the show used that particular score due to the fact that the character of Hamp Speakes played a sax, I guess one could call it "Hamp's Theme". Actually in other segments of this episode, the same sax can be heard in the background, but not as long like in this scene.

I discovered a EON montage on YouTube today, and it left me wondering, why wasn't this show such a hit? I mean it's premise seems to be mystery and adventure, which was all the rage in the 80s. It really puzzles me.

I'm kind of surprised, but in a way not really.
Gay marriage and Cheney. He supports it.

I agree Steve.

This whole memo scandal confuses me. I don't even like Pelosi that much, but what does it have to do with the overall issue of torture though?

I been hearing about both of those issues.
You know surprisingly, LGBT community has made incredible in roads without Obama's help the last five months. I seriously would have never thought Iowa would be a state where gays would be free to marry. Never. And now Maine? I saw let Obama deal with the economy, swine flu, and foreign related issues.
I was watching a show on Fox News and my God, even when Obama cuts the budget he gets slammed.

When the Obama administration crashes and burns, with approval ratings that fall through the floor, political scientists can trace its demise to its first hundred days. While Americans are careful not to consign a presidency they desperately need to succeed to the dustbin of history, the fact is that this president has moved - on issue after issue - in precisely the opposite direction of what the people want him to do.
I can't help but to think, please tell me again why Obama won the election if the majority of American's opposed what he supported and stood for? I know people will always cite the economy, but really? Over abortion, stem cell research, the fact that Obama wanted to talk to talk our enemies was well a known fact and put out there on every news channel, people still voted for him?

I see a little good... a lot of bad. Our credibility on the world stage has been severely damaged. I'm waiting for the next Obama misstep... perhaps ice skating with Putin?
I’m surprised you didn’t state that he would ice skating with pirates in there.
Then again, he did order them to be killed when they were holding one of our own prisoner.
I don’t think talking with our “enemies” is all that bad. Those pictures of him and Chavez didn’t do any justice, because we weren’t there. We do not know what was exactly was exchanged between Chavez and President Obama verbally. Obama could have very well scolded Mr. Chavez behind the scenes, while putting up a front for the press. We just don’t know.

What about this 4 Orphan storyline? Sounds interesting from the name.

There have been hurricanes since and the toll hasn't been as high. Why? Certainly not because federal government has its crap together... Any improvements are likely due to leadership at the state level, which is where regional crisis management originates anyway. That fact has long been lost on Katrina-ites who desire to pin natural disaster on a sitting President.
Or on the inexperienced FEMA director he put in place.
I agree that there's blame to go all around, but c'mon you don't put someone who's never had any experience whatsoever in government in the position to head FEMA. Can you truly blame them for blaming the President and the director of FEMA. I can't help but to think that the reason Bush put that guy in charge of FEMA was because he could care less about climate change and it's affects on the American people. Be it hurricanes or otherwise.

Well, TC, at least the bumbling fool kept us safe from attack for seven years. I hope Obama can continue that policy...
B
I hope Obama can keep us safe too, while upholding are values as a country.
But I gotta say that those who live in New Orleans wouldn't be so fast to agree with your statement.

I actually liked it, he stated exactly what I've been trying to say all along, that it's going to take time for things to start turning around.
GGL you make some very valid points as do you Steve about the past few presidents.

Actually, Michael, Reagan DID take a LOT of heat but somehow sold his economic policies to both Democrats and Republicans. And America did prosper in those "self-indulgent" 80's. Some have argued that Clinton rode the crest of Reagan's wave. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. As for Clinton, then Bush, Jr., I don't really recall a rocky start to Clinton's presidency - at least policywise. And I don't really recall much about Bush's first months in office... nothing really happened until 9/11.
Clinton got alot of heat his first few months in office, when he nominated alot of his friends, who had no experience in Washington whatsoever, to be in his cabinet. I might also add that Obama currently has more filled positions in his cabinet than when both Bush Jr and Clinton had during their first few months.
I didn't say America did not prosper, but Reagan did get off to a rocky start, just like Obama has. Some would say we didn't really begin to prosper as a country until 85. In fact it took Reagan alot longer to turn a nation that had one of the highest unemployment rates in history than Obama's 70 something days currently in office. It took Reagan more than a year to completely turn things around, and some would say he did so simply by spending. Just like Reagan, Obama didn't create this economic crisis, he inherited it from his predecessor and it's going to take a very long time to turn things around, alot longer than two months. Whether you agree or disagree about his policies is another thing, but at least he's doing something about it. I think the best thing to do now is wait to see how things play out.
I also seem to recall one of either Bush Jr or Clinton's appointee's having issues regarding having hired an illegal immigrant to work for them.

I'd love to see where those who are worried about our country right now, predicting the apocalypse and the end of democracy, are gonna be four years from now.
And I wonder what would the right would have said under Ronald Reagan, when he first stepped into office and the economy hit rock bottom in 1982? (Which it did) Would they have been as eager to put it on him, as they are doing now with our current president?
I admit these first few months of Obama's presidency have not been the smoothest, but compared to the start of both Clinton and Bush's presidencies, it makes these first few months seem like a walk in a park. Just because the past three months have not been the most easiest, doesn't mean the next four years are going to be the end all be all of America as some are making it out to be.

Well, with all the [!@#$%^&*] crooks we just got rid of from the last God-awful, [!@#$%^&*] sucking administration (Like GWB can even spell that) 2 or 3 crooks seems like a VAST improvement.
I know. I mean Bush hired bigots, criminals, and etc. Many were even in the Justice Department.

Can anyone summarize or explain the connection between Natalie and Billy. How did they go from plotting to take Greta's inheritance to him blackmailing her in 1982?
0 -
In the 1982 SOD, it says that Nola was pregnant with Billy's baby and was going to marry him. Was that ever resolved before the show ended in Dec. of that year?

I saw this report on MSNBC, and they've always included the newsmakers of the year in the nativity scene. The President of Italy, Carla Bruni and her husband are also in the nativity scene.

Among some of the most emotional scenes last night, def Alex/Lexie, Dr. Bailey/Mandy Moore/the other doctor were one of the most heart wrenching scenes to watch.
