    About the Show

The Heritage of Hope is a fan fiction based on the now defunct soap The Doctors. The Doctors was a soap that aired on NBC from April 1, 1963 to December 31, 1982. The Heritage of Hope begins at the time when The Doctors ended, in the year 1983. However the twist is that the one of the show’s leading characters, Dr. Steve Aldrich (Laurence Lau) has been in a coma for the last three years. Steve’s coma erases the last three years of The Doctors but creates a mystery of sorts, of what has really happened while our leading doctor was sleeping.

Like The Doctors, Heritage of Hope is set in Madison. The show revolves around the lives of four doctors, Matt Powers (Jerry ver Dorn), Maggie Fielding (Deborah Adair), Althea Davis (Robin Mattson), and Steve Aldrich whom all work at Hope Memorial Hospital. Accompanying the medical Powers family and the wealthy Aldrich family are the poor and struggling Simpson, Parker, and Kalikrates families and the wealthy Winthrop and Kincaid families.

News Ticker: In the midst of Laura Wright's departure from GL, the show announced that they would be recasting the role with Cynthia Preston from GH. Weeks later the show would announce Signy Coleman's return as Annie Dutton for a 4 week stint. Shortly after Coleman's stint on the show was announced, it was announced that Kim Zimmer would be going on hiatus from the show for a unspecified amount of time. After Coleman's character, "Annie" killed off Zimmers' Reva, Zimmer would remain the show making sporadic appearances in flashbacks and as a ghostly figure to her children Jonathan, Marah, and Shayne. Months later the show dropped a bombshell on fans revealing that Cynthia Preston would not only be playing the role of Cassie Layne, but also Annie Dutton when the character returned yet again. Weeks later, Kim Zimmer was announced to be reprising the role of Reva Shayne Lewis on the show after a year and a half of doing flashbacks and appearing as ghost Reva to her character's children.

Paul Taylor joins the show as Remy Boudreau.

Amy Van Horne joins the show as Nurse Kimberly Lambert.

Brian Gaskill (ex-Rafe PC) joins the show as Kirk Winters.

Veronica Redd joins the show for a short amount of time as Ella-Mae Boudreau.

Marcy Rylan joins the show as Lizzie Spaulding.

Greg Marxx (ex-Tom ATWT) joins the show as Dr. Keith Sullivan.

Annie Dutton, notorious for her last stint in Springfield, returned with a vengeance. Having seduced her therapist at the asylum Alan had set her up in. As time progressed she seduced her way out, and was released with a clean bill of health. Annie however was far from it. She made her way back to Springfield, ready to claim what she had lost to her nemesis, Reva Shayne. To her dismay, it wasn't Reva who she had to be threatened by; it was Reva's sister Cassie. As Annie lurked around Springfield, eager to stay under the radar, she plotted to get rid of Reva once and for all. One night as Josh was watching Reva head to her car, it exploded in front of the Lewis home. To his horror, they recovered Reva's remains, however they were beyond identification. Having lost Reva forever Josh retreated to a dark place in his life. Annie was slated to make her move at any moment now, but to her surprise Cassie beat her to it. As this was happening, Alan received a long delayed call informing that Annie had been released from the sanitarium. Alan began to suspect that Annie was back in Springfield. As time went by, Cassie and Josh began to slowly develop feelings for one another. Harley, having been in the same situation the last time Reva was presumed dead warned Cassie about her feelings. Cassie however ignored her warning, and during a heated argument between the two in which Cassie suggested Josh to get over Reva's death, the two impulsively kissed. It was the kiss to remember, for at the time Annie was witnessing it. As a new year began, Cassie and Josh began a secret affair. Seeing the two so happily together, Annie tried several times to kill Cassie, but the danger only pushed them closer together. Meanwhile Frank would reveal to Josh and Cassie that his investigation led him to believe that Annie Dutton was behind the explosion that had killed Reva months ago. He informed them that Annie had been released from the sanitarium weeks before Reva’s death. As the police looked for Annie, Annie stayed hidden seeking shelter at the lighthouse. After hearing an argument between Cassie and Tammy over her romance with Josh, Annie began to stalk Tammy along with Josh and Cassie. Annie adored Tammy, and believed if she could have a child she would want them to grow up to be Tammy (She even imagined the child that she and Josh had lost growing up to be Tammy). Annie obsession of Tammy stemmed from when Tammy was once taken by social services and put in foster care. Tammy had stayed with the Spauldings (at this time Annie was married to Alan). Amazed by how much that little girl had grown up, she longed to take the place of Cassie as her mother. Suddenly this gave her an idea. As a haughty Annie relished in the light of her new plan, Alan and Frank were hot on her heels. Realizing this, she fled from Springfield. Annie would soon arrive at her destination, Arizona. It was where her and Rick had met and had gotten married. It was also the place where she knew she could find somebody to help her; that man was Dr. Keith Sullivan. Keith had been a friend of Rick's. The two bonded over their knowledge of medical procedures. Keith was a doctor who specialized in plastic surgery. When Annie showed up on his doorstep, she showed him a picture and demanded that he make her look like the woman in the picture. Keith complied, as Annie held a disturbing and unknown fact about the doctor. Months later, Annie returned to Springfield, resembling Cassie Layne! Meanwhile it had been a year since Reva died, and his romance with Cassie had become public knowledge. Josh planned on proposing to Cassie. He planned to do it at a candle lit dinner he had prepared at the lighthouse. The night that Cassie was supposed to show up at the lighthouse, she was stopped dead in her tracks. Cassie was confronted by a woman who looked exactly her. Annie then kidnapped, and temporarily stashed Cassie at a familiar place, the carousel. She then headed over to the Lewis’s, put on a dress that belonged to Cassie and took her place at the dinner Josh had prepared for Cassie. It was Annie, not Cassie who Josh was proposing marriage to, and who graciously accepted! A few days later, a starved and dehydrated Cassie was apprehended by Annie when she attempted to escape from the carousel. At first Cassie thought it was somebody there to rescue her, to her dismay the masked assailant was none other than Annie; her look alike. Annie then drugged; stashed Cassie in the back of Cassie’s car, and took Cassie to the lighthouse. There inside of the basement, Annie stashed Cassie inside a cell. When Cassie awoke, she could not believe her cell mate was! To her surprise, it was a very much alive Reva Shayne Lewis! Later on Annie would explain to both of the Shayne girls how they had ended up at this point. After drugging a Dr. Thomas's wife (the therapist who she had an affair with), she placed her body in Reva's car which had been fixed to explode. When it did, she took an unconscious and mildly injured Reva to the lighthouse. She had been keeping Reva locked up for a year and a half. Annie jokingly added that when she left for Arizona she left her with a variety of junk food to last her for months. Annie did leave Reva with some departing words as she prepared to resume the life she had taken from Cassie. Annie left it up to Cassie to update Reva on how everyone was able to move on after her death. When Cassie explained, Reva already knew. Reva revealed that Annie had set up a camera in the Lewis house to rub Cassie and Josh's relationship in her face. A look of shock eclipsed Cassie's face. <To be continued.>

When Eddie Rodriguez was hired to work for Danny Santos, he hoped to be working along side the big boys. To his dismay, Eddie was working beside Danny’s gardener. It was nothing Eddie expected. Elsewhere, a newly returned Lizzie, came face to face with an old rival of hers from boarding school, Eddie’s sister Sophia. Before the two could revive their rivalry, Lizzie met and became enamored with the handsome Seth Reardon, Tony and Annabelle’s second oldest son. Lizzie had met Seth one night on the lake. Was there romance on the horizon?

Remy Boudreau and Billy Lewis’s club, “The Blue Orchid” was a major success. His grandmother, Ella-Mae, became his star singer.

Alan Spaulding was apoplectic when his prize dog Lila ran off with Cooper mongrel, Jeffrey, and the two behaved like animals! Alan really lost his temper when Lila disgraced the family by becoming pregnant. She gave birth to two puppies Raoul and Scotty.

A new arrival brought profound terror to Springfield. Kirk Winters was handsome, smooth, and smart. But not smart enough to stay away from his ex-wife, Nurse Kimberly Lambert who worked at Cedars. Kirk had just been released from prison after serving time for spousal abuse. He immediately began subtly stalking her, careful to lean on the right side of the law while he was doing his evil deeds.

Tony Reardon and Rick Bauer kept a watchful eye on Kirk’s every move, hoping to catch him in the act. But Kirk was not going to be stopped! In a horrible act of revenge, Kirk set fire to Tony’s house with Annabelle trapped inside. Tony rushed in the burning house, and pulled Annabelle to safety. Doctors at Cedars, said that Annabelle, blinded by the explosive blaze, might never see again.

TOM joins GL:TB as Shayne Lewis
Y&R vet David Tom joins GL:TB as Josh Lewis's prodigal son, Shayne Lewis. However when Shayne returns, things will not be as they seem. "Since leaving for Bosnia, Shayne has changed into a dark and cynical man, one reminiscent of Robert Newman's Josh Lewis under Douglas Marland's tenure. Shayne will become quite the man in the board room at Lewis as he gets more involved there." states EP/HW Michael Allen. Tom debuts in episode 36.

OLTL vet Erin Torpey will debut in episode 36 as Reva and Josh's daughter, Marah Lewis. "Torpey takes on the role of Marah in the midst of her character joining the big boys at Lewis. There will be quite a storm brewing between Shayne and Marah in the upcoming months. Marah will also serve as one of Olivia Spencer's few friends in Springfield." teases EP/HW Michael Allen.

With news of Torpey's arrival, insiders are hinting that Sam Spencer's return isn't far behind.

Joshua Casaubon joins the show as Ji-Min's shady assistant, Trent Spencer. "He's the kind of guy that gives you goose bumps whenever you see him. He will not be good news for Olivia, who wants nothing but out of her new marriage to his boss." states EP/HW Michael Allen. Casaubon debuts in episode 36.

GL is looking to cast the role of Benjamin "Ben" Reade. Unlike what occured GL, on GL:TB, Ben left for Baltimore to oversee the Stoddard Foundation, a foundation honoring his mother Maeve Stoddard. Ben will arrive in Springfield in quite the shocking way.

    February 1983

The Hope Charity Ball, an event designed to raise money for the hospital, was held at the country club. Much to Matt’s surprise, this year’s ball would be meant to honor him and his many years of dedication to the hospital. A variety of faces from Matt’s past would show up at the event, Rev. Samuel Shafer the former chaplain of the hospital, Dave Stewart, the son of Matt’s old colleague from medical school, and the wealthy Ebenezer Winthrop; a business mogul whose life Matt saved many years ago. The ball would have a variety of moments, from high drama to those of hope. Emerson and Mike made fools of themselves by having too much to drink. Mike publicly expressed his disproval of his father’s relationship with the much younger M.J. Match, while Emerson made his jealousy of Matt known to everybody. Despite the intensity of such moments, it would bring Matt much joy to deliver the grandchild of his very first patient, right there on the ballroom floor. Shortly after such a monumental event, Matt would come to realize that his services as a doctor were still needed, and he’d decide to not retire. Bill would shed his combative attitude towards Matt, and write a favorable article praising Matt’s years at Hope Memorial.

Elsewhere that night the infamous Ann Larimer would return to town, making a surprising visit to her ex-husband Steve. In the midst of pouring her heart out to him, Steve would shockingly regain consciousness! Jason and Erich would be rendered speechless upon seeing Steve awake. Soon news would spread of Steve’s awakening, and it’d reach the guests at the charity ball. Unfortunately for Tom, it’d interrupt his attempt to tell Carolee that he had fallen in love with her. Steve would share an emotional reunion with his family and friends, until one particular person would emerge from sidelines; Ann. When Steve wondered why Ann was not behind bars, soon the reason would come walking into his hospital room; a seven year old boy by the name of Jacob. “Steve, this is your son.” Ann would say to a shocked Steve. Carolee would reveal that she had not pressed charges against Ann because it’d leave the young boy parentless. Steve would try his best to grapple with such a fact.

Many other stories played out on the night of the ball; Althea was involved in a head on collision with Hope Memorial’s newest doctor, Dr. Oliver Mitchell, Emerson’s estranged son. Sumner Prescott was revealed to be once an apprentice of Mona Aldrich’s. Mona’s business rival, Ebenezer Winthrop, revealed that he was moving his company and family to Madison. Ebenezer was married to Penelope Winthrop, who often kept her husband and family grounded. The couple shared a daughter, named Julie, who was quite the spoiled brat. Ebenezer’s handsome and ambitious nephew, Logan, resided with them. Ebenezer constantly groomed the young man to take over the Winthrop Empire, while brushing aside his daughter’s desire to join the corporate world. A teenage Michael-Paul Powers became the object of affection for Julie, while he pinned after his long time friend Stephanie, who dated Logan.

Nurse Traci Bishop took in Carrie Ballard, a distressed prostitute who had been raped by the now deceased Fredrick Garland. Traci and Maggie helped Carrie find the strength to move on after the rape, while psychiatrist Gail Crawford helped the girl out psychologically. Traci wouldn’t take Carrie in out of sheer goodwill; she’d take the young woman in because she saw a bit of herself in Carrie. Taking Natalie aside in secret, Traci would admit that years ago while training to become a nurse; she too used to be a hooker. Traci would try to balance her attempt to turn Carrie’s life around with her blossoming friendship with Tom. Traci feared what would become of her friendship with Tom if he learned of her tawdry past.

When Louise became privy to the nightmares her husband Emmett was having, she’d schedule to have him see a therapist. However upon going to the first session, Emmett would chicken out and fib to his wife that he had seen a shrink about his problems.

Emerson would be stunned to learn that his son, Oliver, was now working at Hope Memorial. Charging into Matt’s office, Emerson would accuse the doctor of bringing their so called feud to an entirely new level. It would be then that a puzzled Matt would learn that Emerson was Oliver’s father, a fact that Matt that had been completely unaware of up until that moment. Calling Oliver into his office after Emerson stormed out, Matt would inquire why Oliver had kept such a secret from him. Oliver had not wished to make his father privy to the fact that he was in town, noting that he had no intentions of reconciling with him. Oliver simply cited his desire to work there at Hope Memorial without any interruption or distraction. When asked as to what was the source of this monumental rift between father and son, Oliver would strike an emotional chord with Matt by revealing that he held his father responsible for his mother’s suicide. In detail, Oliver would describe how his mentally ill mother unraveled day by day as Emerson focused heavily on his career as a doctor. One fateful day, Oliver’s mother would try to take her life by leaving the car on in the garage with a young Oliver in the backseat. Fortunately Emerson would arrive home early just in time to save his son, but it’d be too late for his wife. The story would nearly be similar to how Matt had lost his first wife, and how Mike came to resent him for her death. Matt would face the fact that possibly, he and Emerson weren’t so different after all.

As the month progressed, Mona schemed to get Ann out of town by offering the woman money to either leave town with her son, or leave Jacob behind in the care of the Aldrich’s. When Ann refused to accept such an offer, Mona tried to recruit Ann’s protective yet absent minded father, Ben, to convince Ann to leave town. Ben made his skepticisms known to his daughter about the Aldrich’s accepting Jacob as their own. Meanwhile in Philadelphia, Luke urged his sister Nola to call Jason and tell him that Jessica had fallen ill. In the midst of celebrating his brother’s return, Jason would receive news of his daughter’s hospitalization and hightailed it straight to the city of brotherly love. Jason’s fiancé, Simone, fought off doubts that Jessica’s illness could bring Nola and Jason closer together.

Mona spoiled her grandson, Peter, with a brand new mustang. Derek fumed at the idea of his mother in-law turning his son into a spoiled brat, and both he and Cal protested the gift. Meanwhile the cracks in Derek and Cal’s marriage would begin to show when the couple went house hunting. Shortly before arriving in town, Derek protested the idea of moving to Madison, but due to Cal’s constant prodding and begging, he’d give in. Similar to then, Cal would behave the same way about picking which house they lived in and her behavior resembled that of a spoiled brat. With their marriage on the rocks, Cal fought off the affections of her son’s friend from boarding school, Royce Bryant. Confident and handsome, Royce saw his friend’s mother as a stunning display of beauty, and he seized every opportunity to make this known to her. With her marriage more troubled than before, how long would Cal be able to fend off Royce’s attraction to her?

Disillusioned with the medical profession and what it had become, long time doctor Matt Powers stunned his family and friends with his plans to retire. Matt would constantly butt heads with the hospital administrator, Emerson Mitchell, over budget cuts and hospital politics. Adding to the hostility between the two would be the fact that Dr. Mitchell was currently dating Matt’s ex-wife Dr. Maggie Hanson. Meanwhile, the career driven Dr. Althea Gibson dated the very ambitious Gordon Prescott. When Gordon’s father paid a visit to him, he’d be turned off by Althea’s strong sense of independence and her commitment to her career. In some ways, Sumner Prescott wanted his son to settle down with a woman who would undoubtedly settle down with his playboy son. The whole town would rally around the bedside of the comatose Dr. Steve Aldrich (The final three years of THE DOCTORS being a figment of Steve’s mind.), the victim of a car accident. For three years, his wife, Carolee, unwaveringly sat at his bedside hoping for the best, and yet there’d be no change in his condition. Returning to the family fold after ten years of having declared independence from her controlling mother, Dr. Cal Kincaid would arrive in town to accompany Carolee at her brother’s bedside. Losing faith, Carolee would contemplate taking her husband off of life support. While Cal vehemently opposed the idea, Mona would try to illustrate her side of the issue, supporting such an action after three years of torture. In the midst of all this, Carolee would seek comfort in the arms of Dr. Tom Crawford, a surgeon at Hope Memorial that Carolee had met three years ago. For those three years, Tom had become Carolee’s shoulder to lean on.

A variety of new faces entered the focus. Cal’s senator husband, attorney Derek Kincaid shared a romantic past with Althea. Maggie’s niece Louise Parker and her cop husband Emmett. Emmett was haunted by memories from the Vietnam War. The Fullards entered the focus as well; they were headed by the abusive and alcoholic Burton. A widowed Burton resided with his two sons, Cyrus Fullard, a young teenage prodigy and the recently released from prison Tobias, who now worked at the hospital as a janitor. Accompanying the Fullards, would be the Kalikrates family who ran Pops Moon Palace, a diner frequented by much of the staff at the hospital. The family was composed of the eccentric Pops Kalikrates, the young and brooding Tony, and Alicia, a young social climber in training who envied the Aldrich’s wealth and power. Business mogul Walt Richards was Mona’s husband of three years, and continued to fight an uphill battle with pancreatic cancer. Carolee’s mother was revealed to have been living in Madison for quite some time after Steve’s accident. Emma helped Carolee raise Erich and Stephanie in Steve’s absence, and helped Carolee deal with Billy’s death. Emma ran the Simpson boarding house, not too far from the hospital, where Darren Match and Natalie Bell resided. Jason was revealed to be engaged to Simone Carlyle, a woman that worked for him at his law practice. Unbeknownst to Jason, his mother, Mona orchestrated his break up with Nola, by paying a woman to seduce her son. Taking her scheme even further, she arranged for Simone and Jason to hook up in order to prevent Simone’s mother, Edith, from selling her share of Aldrich Enterprises.

Mona butted heads with the help at the mansion, while constantly smothering her ill husband. Mona continually feared losing her husband, but Walt would help Mona realize that letting him enjoy some of the finer things in life would not be the death of him. Carolee’s mother, Emma, was confident that she had met Mr. Richards before. Meanwhile Mona’s goddaughter, Elizabeth Stoddard had come to stay with her. The young girl appeared to have lived a tragic life, having lost her father only a few months ago. Meanwhile Elizabeth’s mother was nowhere to be seen while she grieved the loss of her father.

The hospital was placed under lockdown when accused rapist Fredrick Garland took Carolee hostage. Matt and Maggie found themselves stuck in the elevator and were forced to sort through their problems. Greta grew close to the mysterious Tobias, while Natalie seethed in the background. As cops Emmett and Nate searched for the suspect, Emmett recapped to his partner how he came to hold grudge against Mona. Two years ago, Emmett tried to pin a murder on Mona, a murder that Emmett still believed she was guilty of. Tom and Mike played hero by rescuing Carolee from Fredrick’s clutches. In the midst of such a life threatening experience, Carolee decided not to take her husband off of life support.

Simultaneously, while the hospital was placed on lockdown, Mona’s reckless grandson, and Cal’s son, Peter collided head on with a taxi in Chicago. The young man had been on his way to Madison, when his car collided with a taxi, containing a feisty pregnant teenager named Stacey. Perhaps doing the most mature and responsible thing in his short young life, Peter stayed with the young woman and helped her give birth. Shortly after paying off the taxi driver to say it was his fault, Peter paid a visit to Stacey to make sure that she was alright. When Peter departed, Stacey parted ways with her newborn, tearfully giving the baby up for adoption.

The lockdown would have lasting ramifications; Tom grappled with the fact that he intentionally took another man’s life and it left him unable to operate on his patients. Seeking advice from Matt, Tom would reluctantly agree to seek counseling, while keeping his psychiatrist mother in the dark. Matt dealt with the fact that a woman had died en route to Hope Memorial during the lockdown, which he implemented. The ill woman had been sent across town to another hospital, and would be pronounced dead on arrival. Drake Corbin, the husband of the deceased was out for blood and sued Hope Memorial. Reporter Bill Avery was out to prove that Matt was irresponsible in his decision to lock down the hospital that fateful night. All of this would deeply sadden Matt to know that his final days at the hospital would be mired in scandal.

    March 1983

Matt’s change of heart would only fuel Drake’s lawsuit against the hospital, this time solely targeting Matt. Drake would suffer a brief moment of clarity when reporter Bill Avery tried to convince him to drop the suit. Drake would seemingly appear to be at a crossroads until a bitter Emerson came upon him. With an axe to grind against Matt, Emerson would encourage Mr. Corbin to continue his lawsuit against the very hospital he worked for! Emerson would underline the importance of knocking Matt down a peg or two, and getting him out of the hospital for good. Motivated by Emerson’s words, Drake and his attorney would present the hospital with an ultimatum; continue on with this lawsuit or fire Matt. Sitting in on the proceedings as owner of the hospital, Mona would vehemently oppose such an offer. Matt, noticing the toll this would take on the hospital, would begin to consider resigning from the hospital. Days later, when Matt had decided to hand in his resignation, Drake would bump into Emerson and the pair would become embroiled in a heated confrontation, with Drake accusing Emerson of using him to do his dirty work. Drake would threaten to tell everyone what Emerson had urged him to do. In the midst of the argument, Drake would collapse right there in the elevator, his airway swollen. Much to Emerson’s shock, the elevator doors would open up to reveal Matt, stunned to see an unconscious Drake on the floor. With the help of Darren Match, an intern, Matt would execute a successful tracheotomy on Drake Corbin, using only an ink pen and plastic straw while in the elevator. Shortly after stabilizing Mr. Corbin, Drake would later be diagnosed with a case of vasculitis. Matt’s curiosity would be piqued when he’d think back to Emerson admitting that he and Drake had been arguing before the man had collapsed. Matt would wonder what the pair could have possibly been arguing about. When Drake regained consciousness, he’d be under the impression that Darren had saved his life, but soon Mr. Corbin would be thrown in for a loop when he’d learn that Matt was the one who he should be thanking. Faced with such a fact, Drake would experience an epiphany of sorts and call off his lawsuit against Dr. Powers. When Emerson paid Drake a visit to make sure the man would remain mum about his involvement in the lawsuit, Drake would keep the doctor on his toes, not certain what he was going to do. Shortly after reuniting with his family, Drake would decide to leave Madison for good. Shortly before departing, Drake would receive a visit from Matt. Drake would offer a sincere apology to the doctor and thank him for saving his life. Not revealing Emerson’s backhanded tactic to get Matt removed from the hospital; Drake would warn Matt to watch his back with Dr. Mitchell.

Jason and Nola’s daughter fell victim to a rare blood disorder that required a blood transfusion from the girl’s father. When Jessica flat lined and was subsequently brought back to life, it seemed as if Jason and Nola would find comfort in each other’s arms, until Lewis Baker, Nola’s business savvy fiancé walked in. Jason would be rendered speechless upon meeting the man, unable to deal with seeing the woman that he had once and still loved, with another man. As Nola and Jason celebrated the success of the blood transfusion, both would be at odds emotionally about how they felt towards each other.

One night a former john of Carrie’s made his way into Traci’s apartment and tried to have his way with the young woman. Luckily Tom and Traci would be in the next room, and would hear when Carrie signaled for help by knocking over a lamp. Both Traci and Tom would play hero, ending with Traci threatening to hit the guy in the groins with a baseball bat.

Tobias and Greta would continue to grow close, while both Natalie and Darren looked down upon their potential pairing. Darren, having pined away for Greta for years, made it known to Tobias that he didn’t think a man like him deserved Greta. Natalie would echo the same exact sentiments, and mentioned the secret past they shared together. Natalie and Tobias had once been engaged. On the eve of their wedding, Natalie, under the pressure of FBI agents, falsely testified that Tobias was a drug trafficker. With all of this weighing heavily on Tobias, he’d push Greta away, scarring her emotionally. Tobias’s home life would not be a walk in the park either; he had to deal with his violent and lush of a father Burton. Tobias would also have to shield his father’s fierce temper from his younger brother, Cyrus, who sympathized with Burton. Weeks later, good news would grace the Fullard household in the form of a job interview for the unemployed Burton. Were things finally looking up for this suffering family?

Stunned by the fact that a woman of Elizabeth’s age and stature was single, Mona would go against the young woman’s wishes and set her up on a blind date with Madison’s newest arrival, Royce Bryant. Though Elizabeth wasn’t particularly fond of the idea, she’d surprisingly get along with Royce upon their first meeting. However it’d be proven that there existed more to Elizabeth than what met the eye, when she made a cryptic call to someone noting how she had Mona and everyone in town fooled.

It would take a silver ring, for Emma to remember where she had met Walt Richards from. As a child, Emma’s family took in the son of a homeless man. That same young boy who stayed with Emma for many months kept the same ring that Walt wore on his finger today. When Emma confronted Walt with such a fact, a cornered Walt would confirm that her suspicions were true; his real name was not Walt Richards, but Denny Graves, the son of a coal miner in West Virginia. Walt would reveal that after his father died, he went to work for a coal company and after many years of hard work and dedication he rose up through the ranks. Upon amassing great wealth as President of that very same coal company, he changed his name to Walt Richards. Walt would have Emma swear to secrecy about his less than humble beginning, ashamed that his past might taint himself somehow in Mona’s eyes. Emma would reluctantly agree. From then on, Emma and Walt would reaffirm the friendship they had once forged as kids. Walt found Emma to be breath of fresh air, a break from the life he had submerged himself many years ago as the wealthy Walt Richards. He found Emma’s grounded personality charming, while Mona found their bond troubling.

Sebastian hired an expert assassin to do his bidding, a woman in fact. This woman was Fiona Bradshaw, the very woman that Alan-Michael was carrying an affair with. Of course it was a ploy of hers to get close to Alan-Michael. It was until Alan-Michael began spilling out his entire soul and heart to her, that Fiona began to stray away from the original plan. Why? She had fallen in love with her victim! As she was having sex with Alan-Michael she was having meaningless sex with Sebastian Thorpe, who also had her charmed around his little thumb. When Sebastian learned of Fiona’s unwillingness to carry out their plans, he went ballistic. Meanwhile Dinah was trying everything to reconcile with Alan-Michael, when Sebastian revealed to her, her husband’s affair with Fiona. Sebastian used this fact to manipulate Dinah into having a total mental breakdown. Sebastian continuously manipulated Dinah by using this piece of information, he was egging her on to do what she had done to Hart; kill him! Sebastian then planned to frame Fiona for the deed. When a rally was held on 5th Street promoting Alan-Michael’s campaign, Fiona came upon Sebastian’s plot to have Dinah shoot and kill Alan-Michael. However to her dismay, she had gotten there too late; Alan-Michael had been shot! Nobody knew of the culprit but her, Dinah, and Sebastian. Dinah however was too out of it to realize what happened. She had gone into a catatonic state when she showed up on her mother’s doorstep holding the very same gun that shot Alan-Michael. As Alan-Michael hung between the balance of life and death, Fiona had one final showdown with Sebastian. Fiona was terrified to learn the true extent of Sebastian’s evil deeds, that included using her as a scapegoat for the crime as a way to get back at her. This forced Fiona to leave town, not before sneaking into Alan-Michael’s hospital room and sharing a tearful good-bye with him, even though he had been unconscious. Sebastian had carefully placed enough evidence to lead Harley into believing that Fiona was behind the shooting. Gus however remained reluctant, he believed that it seemed all too easy, however Harley was convinced. Dinah meanwhile was secretly shipped off to a mental institution in New York City by her mom Vanessa. When Billy learned of what Vanessa was doing, Billy protested but after Vanessa confided in Billy about the guilt that plagued her over this, regretting having ever given up Dinah for adoption, Billy understood somewhat. Ross wouldn’t be let in on the plan until later, and demanded that Vanessa do the right thing this time. Vanessa remained persistent in protecting her daughter. Meanwhile the word around town was that Dinah had suffered a mental breakdown after Alan-Michael’s shooting, distraught with grief. That couldn’t have been the furtherest thing from the truth. When Alan-Michael regained consciousness, although confined to a wheelchair for a few weeks, he grew bitter and cold, while heavily drinking. While a part of Alan-Michael believed that Fiona couldn’t have been the culprit, another one was confused and did not know what to believe anymore. Even worse was that Dinah was missing, but he chalked that up to Dinah running off with some man. Vanessa didn’t stop him from believing that either, she led him on to. As Ross grew more conflicted about hiding the truth from the police, he was also visiting his daughter Dinah in New York. Blake became suspicious, having not known the truth yet. A curious Blake tracked Ross to New York, and found him there with Vanessa! To her surprise, they weren’t there because they were involved romantically, they were there visiting a mentally ill Dinah! When Blake sneaked into Dinah’s room, she realized how truly ill Dinah was. Blake was shocked to see that Dinah was entirely unresponsive. That until she mentioned Alan-Michael’s name, and Dinah viciously attacked Blake! Ross and a few of the orderlies had to rescue Blake, thus blowing her cover. After apologizing to Ross for not trusting in him, he confided in her about how much he had failed as a father. Blake convinced Ross that he was the furthest thing from being a bad father. When Ross, Vanessa, and Blake returned to Springfield, Blake came face to face with Alan-Michael. Blake, going against Vanessa’s wishes, told A-M the truth. This caused a wedge between Ross and Blake, and made Vanessa forever resentful of Blake. When Alan-Michael paid a visit to Dinah he finally learned the truth from Vanessa about what Dinah had done. While alone with Dinah, Alan-Michael was there to witness Dinah’s first few words since going into an catatonic state. As he listened on in a conversation Dinah was holding with herself, he learned that she came upon the affair he had been having with Dinah, and she also mentioned Sebastian. Alan-Michael putting two and two together, he confronted Sebastian on all of his evil deeds. From revealing the truth to Dinah, to being the blackmailer, to even blackmailing Dinah into sleeping with him. Getting out of the wheelchair that had confined Alan-Michael for weeks, Alan-Michael violently came charging after Sebastian, and the two men went flying through a glass window at Towers and landed on the balcony outside. Alan-Michael would have beaten Sebastian to a bloody pulp if it hadn’t been for his uncle Ed and Ross. (This resulted in a unique scene between Ed and Sebastian in the stairwell of Towers, where Ed was repairing Sebastian’s broken nose. How ironic it was that Ed of all people had come to Sebastian’s rescue!) Alan-Michael returned to the mansion and finally received information regarding Fiona’s whereabouts. Unbeknowst to him, Gus and Harley were following closely behind, they still believed that Fiona was behind the shooting. Meanwhile back in Springfield, when Blake learned of what Sebastian had done to Dinah, for the first time she expressed how truly repulsed she was of her brother’s actions after having seen Dinah. Sebastian would pay a visit to Dinah himself, and while not showing how affected he was of the state she was in, deep down he began to show signs of guilt. When Ross arrived, he had violently slammed Sebastian against the wall of the room, suddenly Dinah showed signs of recovery by uttering “Daddy? Are you there?” Ross shared a heart breaking moment when Dinah returned to the catatonic state she was in. Meanwhile Alan-Michael had tracked Fiona all the way to the state of Minnosota where she planned on escaping to Canada. When Alan-Michael and Fiona came face to face the same way they had met the last time, in a bar, they two reunited. Fiona tried to convince Alan-Michael that he didn’t belong there, but A-M explained to her that he was there to stay. After explaining to her what happened back in Springfield, A-M and Fiona made love in the seedy motel room she was staying in. Despite this, A-M faced a terrible decision; turn in the wife who he secretly still harbored feelings for, despite her shooting him, or let the other woman who he loved take the fall. So far, Alan-Michael planned on going on the run with Fiona, and using this as a way to escape the prison that his life was. Meanwhile back in Springfield Alan was close to coming upon the truth that Dinah shot A-M, and wanted blood. Vanessa was desperate to keep Alan from finding out, not knowing that Alan was guilty of the same crime months ago.

Back in Minnesota, Gus and Harley came face to face with Alan-Michael, and warned him about trying to meet with Fiona. This signaled A-M to get out of town, but when he returned to the hotel room, Fiona was gone! Ready to find her, Alan-Michael was confronted by Harley. Elsewhere, Sebastian was also in Minnesota, intent on finding Fiona before the cops did. Gus came face to face with Fiona who was preparing to leave on small charter plane. Fiona pleaded her innocence to Gus, but Gus insisted that he had to turn her in. When it seemed as if Fiona would give up, Fiona shot Gus in the shoulder and ran off. Arriving at the airfield, was also Sebastian who lurked around the hangers looking for Fiona, who he knew was there. Loaded in his pocket was a gun. Alan-Michael and Harley arrived at the hanger to find Gus shot, but still willing to find Fiona. Harley however insisted. As Harley was attending to Gus who was bleeding endlessly, Alan-Michael ran off in search for Fiona. Fiona was confronted by Sebastian, who was pointing a gun at her! At the sound of Harley’s voice, Sebastian grabbed Fiona and took off. However Fiona was able to escape him. When Fiona ran away from Sebastian, she had run into Harley. There to witness the confrontation, was Alan-Michael. Alan-Michael was on the verge of admitting the truth; that Dinah was the culprit but for some reason could not bring himself to do it. When Fiona had pulled out her gun and was pointing it at Harley, a gun went off nearly missing Harley. (This shot was fired by Sebastian in order to agitate Harley into shooting Fiona.) Fiona then ran off, trying to make it to the plane, but was shot by Harley. A-M rushed to her side, but unfortunately, she died in his arms. Alan-Michael was devastated, Sebastian the snake as he had always been, slithered away from this without a scratch. Fiona, having no family, was buried in Springfield, her funeral was paid by Alan-Michael. Alan-Michael would be the only one to attend her funeral, until Gus and Harley showed up. Harley tried to comfort Alan-Michael in all his grief, but he only lashed out at her and Gus. This was the beginning of Alan-Michael’s transformation into a cold and calculating man like his father. Alan learned that Dinah was his son’s shooter and was hell bent on getting revenge on Dinah, but a solemn Alan-Micahel coldly threatened his father about revealing to the public the truth about the mess involving Connor McCaskill. After hearing what he had done, Vanessa thanked Alan-Michael. In New York, Dinah was making progress in her therapy sessions, and on one sunny afternoon, Ross, Blake, Bill, Vanessa, Kevin, and Jason all were shocked to say the least to see a vibrant Dinah back to normal as if nothing had happened that last few months. To her nothing had happened, for she had blocked those months out. The Spaulding household braced for Dinah’s return.

Furious that his vengeful plan had flopped so badly, and feeling guilty than an innocent woman had become his unwitting victim, Kirk took action. He disguised himself as a kindly hospital orderly, Carter Wilson, and befriended an unsuspecting Annabelle. As Annabelle and Tony began to drift apart, yet again, due to his guilt, and her struggle to cope with being blind, Annabelle bonded more and more with Carter. To her, he was more like a confidante. Unfortunately, the madman became obsessed with Annabelle, and when she began to put the pieces together and determined his identity, he kidnapped her! Kirk fled to the Springfield city dam, where he planned on killing Tony and Rick once and for all. Again, Tony raced to Annabelle’s rescue, confronting Kirk on the edge of the dam. Tony nearly lost his life by nearly falling off the edge until Rick saved him. Tony and Rick were able to locate Annabelle, but Kirk got away before finally being apprehended in nearby Oakdale. Meanwhile Tony and Annabelle marriage began to improve, as the two were closer than ever now.

Lillian started suffering from severe headaches and sought treatment from a young successful doctor named Craig Tourner (Wally Kurth). It was soon revealed that Lillian was suffering a brain tumor. As Beth and Lizzie rallied around their treasured matriarch, Craig operated on Ms. Raines. As Craig became her doctor, the two grew close and soon became lovers. Ed saw the relationship blossom between the two and was totally antagonistic to the idea of the two being together. This left Craig confused, and Holly mildly nervous at the fact that Ed was getting so upset over Lillian’s new relationship with a younger man.

Craig helped Lillian buy half of Hawk Shayne’s bar; named Sarah’s (Lillian wanted to prevent Hawk from losing the bar to a vengeful Alan Spaulding.) Chuck Reynolds ended up floating Craig the loan, but Craig took all the credit for it, thus pushing Craig and Lillian closer. It was that night that the two made love. After Lillian became part owner of Sarah’s, Lillian and Hawk began to grow close while running the bar together. Craig’s true colors began to show over the following weeks when Craig grew increasingly jealous of the two and threatened Hawk to back away from Lillian. Hawk did not understand how serious Craig was until Sarah’s ended up getting vandalized and Craig hinted that he was behind it. Hawk backed off, but let the cops in on his suspicions. Despite Hawk’s reservations towards Craig, Gus and Harley shot down his idea that Craig was behind it, being that Mr. Tourneur was well respected doctor in town. Meanwhile Chuck was outraged to learn that Craig took responsibility of the loan he floated to him, and confronted him on it. This was when Chuck began to suspect that Craig was not who he said to be. (Meanwhile Ed was beginning to accept the fact that Craig and Lillian were together.) As Chuck began to focus his attention on his ex Lillian, Felicia began to feel as if Chuck was drifting away from her. In reality he was. He still harbored feelings for Lillian, and could not stand seeing her with another man, especially a man who was younger than him. Beth and later Ed warned him to back off, but Chuck would not listen. Then Chuck met Craig’s former sister in law Estelle Gardner. Chuck then learned form Hawk about his suspicions of the guy. Chuck decided to do a background check on the guy. He learned that his wife, Julia had been murdered in a supposed robbery gone wrong at their home. One of the things that were stolen was a rare jade statue. Chuck then paid a visit to Julia’s sister in the nearby town of Bay City and learned that she suspected that Craig was responsible for the murder of her dear sister.

Meanwhile Bill would uncover the truth about Billy embezzling money from the pension fund of those that worked at Lewis. The city council had elected several nominees for businessman and businesswoman of the year. On the men’s end were Alan-Michael Spaulding, Joshua Lewis, and Bill Lewis. On the women’s end were Vanessa Chamberlain, Amanda Spaulding, and Holly Lindsey. The nomination couldn’t have come at a worst time for Josh, for he had kept mum about his brother’s embezzling from Lewis. So when Holly and Josh was announced the winner, Josh was falling apart inside. Then at the luncheon Bill had learned what his father had done and crashed the luncheon demanding to speak with Josh. Billy would arrive at the luncheon to hear a private conversation between Josh and Bill, where Bill expressed how much of a disappointment his father had always been to him. Storming out, Billy did not hear his son retract the statement after Josh showed him that Billy was trying to be a good father to him. Billy nearly ended his sobriety (and took his life) until Vanessa stopped him, and it was then that Vanessa and Billy began to grow close again. The next day, Bill and Billy came face to face, and Billy handed in his resignation from Lewis. The news got leaked to The Springfield Mirror, owned by Sebastian, Blake, and Alan-Michael. Sebastian curiosity was piqued at the news of this and decided to investigate.

In 2006, Kevin and Jason Marler were shipped off to boarding school. Now both Kevin and Jason returned to Springfield after Kevin got into trouble at Lincoln Prep School. Though he was found innocent, he decided to enroll in Springfield High School where he met the sweet Tammy Winslow. Although Marina was deeply attracted to Kevin, his focus was on the alluring Tammy. As Marina continued to pine after Kevin, she met the handsome Spaulding stable hand, Peter Reardon and immediately decided that he was the one for her. The fact Peter was in love with another young woman, that young woman being Tammy, did not matter to Marina and she went after him. Meanwhile Kevin learned that Tammy had feeling for his best friend, who happened to be Peter. However unbeknownst to everyone, Kevin had come to town with every serious drinking problem, which only his brother Jason knew about. He almost died when he passed out drunk in his car and carbon monoxide fumes overcame him. Despite the seriousness of Kevin’s alcoholism, Jason kept quiet out of fear that Kevin would see this as a betrayal. Kevin’s turn into becoming an alcoholic came through with the help of Marina who wanted Peter for herself and Marina certainly helped to ply Kevin with alcohol and also encouraged Kevin to pick fights with Peter. Soon his problems got the best of him and he was arrested for drunk driving! Fortunately for Kevin, Blake sympathized with her son (much to Jason’s protest.) and convinced Ross help pay for bail. Meanwhile, Tammy was finding her life spiraling out of control, with her problems with Peter and Kevin going at each other, and now her father, Rob Layne, deciding to drop back into her life, culminated with the constant bickering that happening between her mom and dad, Marina convinced Tammy to run away to Chicago to escape these so called problems. In Chicago, Tammy got in trouble working for an unsavory man named Gavin Kruger. After an extensive search Tammy was located in Chicago at Gavin’s club. At first when Tammy saw the five people (Kevin, Jason, Peter, her mother, Cassie, and Ross Marler) she told them to get lost, but then one of the patrons, at Gavin’s “club”, started getting rough with her and then another started roughing up her mom, Cassie, Tammy started getting the feeling that her mom, Ross, Kevin, Jason, and Peter were all right all along and all she wanted to do was go back home. Unfortunately, the two patrons who roughed up both Tammy and Cassie started threatening Ross, Kevin, Peter, and Jason and started to pick a fight with them. Then Gavin out in the middle of the fight (which Ross, Kevin, Peter, and Jason were starting to get the upper hand in) and he tried to get them all to stop. Unfortunately, Peter’s fist went right into Gavin’s face and that about the end of Gavin! Ross also had a backup plan to help get Tammy back home. Ross had contacted the Chicago Police Department and they came and finally closed down Gavin’s “club” and also arrested him (apparently the District Attorney in Chicago had already been investigating Duke’s “nightclub”, suspecting that it was really a prostitution ring, especially designed for pimping out young virginal girls.)

On the work front, Vanessa Chamberlain and Alexandra Spaulding rallied their forces to stop Damian Vocheck’s hostile take-over of Spaulding Enterprises. Joining Damian was Alan-Michael, who thought that Alex had wrongly taken the company from him. Many citizens of Springfield however were doubtful that Damian could take Spaulding. Damian however remained determined to seize control of Spaulding. Damian appeared in a face-to-face meeting with Vanessa on WSPR’s Market Street Week. Afterwards, the pair met privately and argued. The chemistry was instant and unmistakable. The fight turned to passion as Damian pulled his rival into a kiss. Vanessa responded. A new romance was born in Springfield.

Vanessa refused to get wrapped up in an affair with Damian. (Their romance had remained a secret to the rest of the town, for the fact that Alex would not be satisfied in the least to learn that the Vice President of Spaulding was sleeping with the enemy. So when in public the two fought like cats and dogs, but behind closed doors the two made passionate love.) She believed that Damian was only sleeping with her so he could wrestle control of Spaulding. In order to prove her wrong, Damian appeared on Market Street Week again, this time announcing that his bid for SE was over, and he was making plans of moving Vocheck Enterprises to Springfield. Vanessa however remained reluctant, for a part of her still loved her ex Billy.

Meanwhile a furious Alan-Michael went to war with Alex on his lonesome. Not known to A-M, Alex’s machinations were more complex than he thought. In order to regain her position at Spaulding, Alex sold her soul to the devil himself, Sebastian Thorpe. In return for his help, by spying and sabotaging several SE projects A-M had organized, he wanted Alex’s hand in marriage! Sebastian believed that by marrying Alex he would have all the power and wealth he ever dreamed of, just like his father. Alex agreed, however she intended on going back on her and Sebastian’s deal, no matter what the cost. She had already been married to one Thorpe before, and she would die before she was to marry another one. As Sebastian and Alex’s partnership continued, Alex used Sebastian to ruin her enemy Mindy Lewis. When Sebastian brought half of Mindy’s fashion company, it was Alex’s money that went into the company not his. As Mindy detested the thought of working alongside Sebastian, what she didn’t know was that it was her enemy Alex, a woman she despised more than anyone the face of the earth, more than Sebastian, was the owner of half of her company. As co-owner of the company, Alex plotted the company’s rise and fall, all with the help of Sebastian.

While this fact remained unknown to Mindy, what she did know was that Alex was blackmailing her with information regarding the death of Eve Guthrie. If it was ever to get out, her fiancé Rick and his father, Ed would be tried for murder and would undoubtedly lose their medical licenses. Not wanting that to happen at the hands of Alex, Mindy complied when Alex demanded that Mindy vote for her at the upcoming Spaulding shareholders’ meeting.

Elsewhere on the business front, Damian went to war with the Lewises, attempting to acquire their company in a hostile take over. Not only did this make Damian a rival of the Lewises, but it also made Billy and Damian enemies. Unbeknownst to Billy, Damian was carrying on an affair with his former wife Vanessa. When Reva came upon this secret, she told Billy, who came upon the pair in bed together. A hurt Billy complied when Vanessa begged him not to tell anyone for she would lose her job at Spaulding. Thankfully Reva was able to convince Billy to fight for Vanessa. In order to help Billy, Reva decided to cozy up to Mr. Vocheck and try to distract him from his affair with Vanessa, while Billy worked on winning her back. To Reva’s dismay, Damian knew what Reva was up, but decided to play along. As Reva’s plan continued to play out, Josh grew increasingly jealous of the two constantly spending time together.

Damian would come upon Billy and Vanessa on the verge of a reunion. Knowing that Billy was about to propose to Vanessa, he decided to get the upper hand. Damian romantically whisked Vanessa off to Budapest where he proposed to her!

Back in Springfield, Damian’s newly hired nurse (Damian had a rare blood disorder that took a toll on his health every so often.), Stacey Reardon, was intent on solving a mystery involving his new home, Thorneway Manor (A home where her mom and Quint had once lived). When Stacey was first hired to work there, Mr. Vocheck warned her not to set foot into the west wing of the manor, not giving a clear reason as to why. However, Stacey’s curiosity got the best of her and while her boss was away in Budapest, she wandered through the halls, and into the library. There she came upon a painting of a beautiful young woman. Even more mysterious was that there was a name plate on the bottom of the painting that spelled out “My Beloved”. Before Stacey could digest any of this information, Stacey was confronted by Damian’s loyal and longtime maid Olga, who demanded to know the reason why she was there. As Stacey was ready to explain, the sound of glass breaking came from the room above the library. However to Stacey’s surprise, Olga acted unfazed by the noise, acting as if she had not heard the noise. Stacey was certain that someone else was there in the west wing, but Olga insisted that they were the only two there. Olga warned Ms. Reardon not to return to this room again, and act as if she had not seen the portrait. Stacey complied, but confided in her friend and confidante Matthew in what she had seen.

Matthew and Stacey had become quite a pair. Although their relationship had remained simply platonic, the thought of anything else was the furthest from their mind. Despite the fact that their fathers were mortal enemies (Quint Chamberlain and a back from the dead Mark Evans), Stacey and Matthew had formed a close knit friendship. Stacey was there when Matthew’s heart was broken by Michelle (A woman who she despised.). Matthew was there for Stacey when a much older Phillip Spaulding dumped her for the affections of his ex wife Beth. Now Stacey was pregnant with Phillip’s child, but had no intention on telling the father, Phillip, that she was carrying his child. When questions began to arise, as to whom the father could be, Matthew shocked Michelle and his sister Amanda by revealing that he was the father after a one night stand with her while he was in a relationship Michelle. Even after that, Stacey considered herself to be alone and pregnant, despite having family and friends there for her (Just as her mother considered herself to be when she was pregnant with her years ago.). This was when she decided to take the high paying job as being a nurse for Springfield’s newest resident, the wealthy Damian Vocheck. Now Stacey and Matthew had become involved in a mystery surrounding the west wing of Mr. Vocheck’s new home.
