  1. Both Defending champions are out.

This has been by far the best Aussie Open!!

Usually would have gone to a day in the first week.

But 1st It was to bloody hot, and 2nd they decided to really up grade my train line so we had no trains for 2 weeks, with last week being the last one.

  2. THE Extreme Heat Policy has been implemented at the Australian Open on another sweltering day at Melbourne Park.

The tournament referee has suspended the start of any further games on outside courts and matches currently in progress will continue only to the end of the current set, when the match will be suspended until further notice.

The roof has been closed on Hisense Arena and will be closed on Rod Laver Arena at the end of the current set before any urther games take place.

No play on the ouside courts before 4.00 pm at least.

Even work enforced the heat policy when it was announced that there would be major cuts to public transport.

Play resumed after the temperature dropped to the 30's, but now has been suspended due to rain.

Another day of extreme heat tomorrow, but the cool change is meant to come through in the afternoon.

  4. They need to halt this Slam until the weather breaks, which will be this weekend. If it affects other tourneys, too bad!

I do agree with you on that.

Last couple of years I have gone to one of the days in the first week.

We have figured out that summer doesn't hit with a vengence until the tennis starts.

  5. I was wondering where you were! Happy New Year!!!!!

That's hot and no one s/b forced to play under those conditions. They were supposed to interview the guy in charge of the AO about protecting the players against this extreme heat.

Happy new year to you to.

Been really busy with work, that busy that the last thing i have wanting to do is get on the laptop on the weekend. But have been on my iPad and iPhone figure that one out lol.

I am not looking forward to the heat today.

Got a great view of Rod Laver and Margaret Court arena from the window, but can't get the picture to post.

Won't be going to the tennis this year as this whole week temp's of aroung 100 degrees is being forcast.

  6. Woooohoooooooooooooo!!! Glad Novak beat awful Murray!! I was up till about 4 am but went to bed after Novak lost the first set....glad he came back ...will be watching it on my DVR in a few min...Yayyyyyyyyyyyy!!
Replay on here now and watching. Was starting to fall asleep last night.
  7. What a fantastic and dramatic women's final. Li Na rolls the ankle, there's a fireworks break, then Li Na rolls her ankle again and hits her head on the court! There were so many games that were broken. And it's hard to play when the crowd is against you but Azerenka prevailed. I guess the Aussies didn't like what she did in the semis. LOL Also, props to Li Na for getting back up to continue playing (and playing well).
I think that it had something to do with the answer she gave right after the match about chocking and needing to regroup and then saying a couple of different versions later on. She also had another press conference yesterday I think it was to explain things. And we also love going for the underdog 9 times out of 10. Damn missed the fireworks, I know that channel 7 shows a bit of them every year. PS. Happy Australia Day.
