I just hope this news might light a fire under Bradley Bell’s ass, but, knowing him, he’ll receive the *wrong* lesson from it, leaning into more nonsensical stunts for ratings instead of aiming for higher-quality, long-term storytelling and allowing an actual writer to take the creative reins.

Nah he'll skate like always till it's close to time for the new soap to premiere then suddenly he'll pull out all the stops for a month or so then go back to being lazy

Even if CBS dumped B&B, do not be suprised if ABC gets B&B or Amazon or Netflix picks it up. Iger at Disney/ABC needs and wants content for ABC and/or Hulu/Disney +. Amazon and Netflix need contant as well.

lol not going to happen at all. ABC has 1 soap for a reason, a soap that's hanging on by it's toe nails at this point

B&B has been canceled in a lot of international territories in the past 10 years - its global footprint isn’t as strong as it was in the 90’s and early 00’s. It’s more reliant on the licensing fees CBS pays for it now than ever.

If they cancel B&B, it’s done and no other global market will save it. But would that also lead to the Bell’s selling their stake in Y&R to CBS or selling it fully to Sony? Interesting to think about…

Said what I was going to say. They want us to buy into the "it does well internationally" I'm sure it does, but it's not nearly as strong as it once was

I think CBS is taking note of the success (at least talk wise/watercooler discussions) of shows that are centered around African Americans. BMF, All American, heck even Tyler Perry produced written shows such as The Oval and All The Queen's Men; they all have an audience of sorts, one that every now and then are vocal online and social media. I think creating a black daytime soap, while surprising, when you look at the big picture it makes sense.

It surprises me cause CBS doesn't seem to GAF about how their black characters are written for on YR and BOLD

Even though The Gates is being developed for CBS, I wouldnt be shocked if it just went streaming on Paramount Plus. I feel streaming is the future for daily soaps.

Paramount Plus is likely being merged with Peacock, so yeah that's probably not even remotely what would happen

I think what bothers me about today's announcement, and this has nothing to do whatsoever with your post or you, John, in particular, but people can't seem to read. I can't tell you how many people asked when is it going to air or where is it going to air when it is clearly stated it's for CBS. Countless people on social are asking if this is going to Paramount+ and I'm like...not even in the PR about it was Paramount+ even mentioned.

Errol this does NOT shock me at all. Especially from soap fans who barely pay attention to what's happening on screen already lol.

The current CBS lineup in Seattle:

    9-10am Let's Make a Deal

    10-11am The Price is Right

    11am-noon Y&R

    noon-1pm news

    1-2pm The Talk

    2-2:30pm B&B

I wonder where they would put The Gates?

From 1 to 2 and can the Talk lol

Honestly there's no way they're going to cut LMAD or another show in half for this. I'd be shocked if they did.
