Compared to the same week last year, “Live” was up +1% in both Total Viewers (2.228 million vs. 2.197 million) and Households (1.50 rating vs. 1.49 rating).

Season-to-date (09/04/2023-05/12/2024), “Live with Kelly and Mark” ranks as the No. 1 entertainment talk show for the fourth consecutive season and the top daytime talk show among Women 25-54 (0.51 rating) for the fifth consecutive season. 2. Johnny Wactor, Brando Corbin, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Anita Joy, the female co-worker who was being walked to her car by Johnny Wactor as the former “General Hospital” star came upon thieves attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his truck, has opened up about the events leading up to and following the tragic death of the beloved actor. Joy and Wactor worked the bartending shift Friday night at the Level 8 bar in downtown Los Angeles.

“I’ve needed to take some time to collect myself and my thoughts. I was with Johnny in his last moments and I’m here to be his voice after such unimaginable events,”  said Joy, who shared several photos of Wactor working alongside his colleagues, and what may be the final media record of him before he died during the early morning hours on Saturday, May 25.

“I’ve needed a few days to collect myself before saying anything here, but I need to share his story, the support for his family and the incredible loss that a lot of us are feeling. I have started and stopped so many times with what I want to say, writing over the details of everything, then ending it all together because it’s just too much,” wrote Joy in a text image published within the thread. “There has been a lot within myself of ‘what to and what not to” share about this – but the reality is, I have a responsibility to Johnny. I am his voice now because otherwise he would have possibly been alone and he wasn’t. He was killed senselessly by a coward who reacted without care of the gorgeous life he was taking. So I’m angry, I’m sad and I’m all of the feeling at once…but above all, I am here for Johnny’s justice.

“My friend of 8 years went from laughing together, working side by side, leaving our bartending shift and walking to our cars, to him dying in my arms in the streets of DTLA in the dark hours of 3am,” Joy continued in a separate text image within the thread. “There are plenty of articles out now with the basic details of this horrific story which comes down to a few criminals trying to steal a car part and all they took was my friend’s life. Everything happened in an instant, I’ve come to describe it as a glass water that gets tipped over and you’re scrambling to grab it and save it from spilling out completely but it just runs through your fingertips and is gone.”

“We cautiously approached the men, questioning what they were doing, at first thinking the car was being towed. We were no threat and Johnny kept his cool as he always did, simply stating that it was his car and for them to leave. Hands open to his sides in peace,” Joy said, describing the details leading up to the shooting. “Johnny was between me and the man who shot him – as I heard the shot ring into the night, he forcefully tumbled back into my arms and as I grabbed for him, I shouted ‘Hunny you ok?!’ And he only responded ‘Nope! Shot!’ We toppled onto the street where I pushed my legs under him and tried to hold his body up while screaming for help and screaming at him to stay with me.”

Continuing to describe the situation as it happened in the text thread, Joy said, “One of our security guards from work was crossing the street shortly after and ran to us with 911 on the phone – we tied my denim jacket around him to stop the bleeding and Bryan proceeded to try CPR on him.” She added, “I’m so thankful for Bryan showing up, trying with all his might to save Johnny. It was too close range, too extreme of a wound for him to survive it but my god, he fought to stay. I am utterly heartbroken and so very angry. My only peace is that I was with him and this didn’t happen to him alone – my only other peace will be seeing these awful men brought to justice.”

In the caption of her Instagram post, Joy wrote of Wactor:

“Johnny had this incredible ability that was truly just his genuine nature – to make anyone and everyone feel so special in his eyes. No matter how well you knew him, he treated everyone like he truly cared about you. He lit up any room – you couldn’t not smile around him. His energy was magnetic and pulled you in so effortlessly – you were safe with him. He treated everyone with love, respect, compassion and he really “saw” you. He was beautiful, goofy as hell, full of work ethic and values, he never put people down, even when joking, he never made you feel unsure of yourself – he knew how to be hilarious in such a positive way and it just made him that much more lovable. It just filled your heart to be around him. He called me ‘Anita Bonita’ and I hope the stamp of his voice saying that every time I saw him never leaves my memory. Just one look into his big blue eyes, followed by a big goofy grin, Johnny made you love him instantly. Absolutely one of the best men I’ve ever known. I’m so grateful to have been a part of his world and him, mine.”

In addition to sharing details of Wactor’s final moments, Joy pointed out that the Level 8 bar had previously promised to provide some form of parking for their staff, particularly those working the late shift. She also asked for the bar to contribute in some way to Wactor’s family, and to honor and respect him for “all the hard work and effort he did for them.”

She closed out her post saying, “My heart is shattered with his loss but I believe l have gained the best guardian Angel out there. I love you Johnny Wacky.”

  3. Rome Flynn, MGM+, Godfather of Harlem

The MGM+ original drama series “Godfather of Harlem” has cast “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “How to Get Away with Murder” actor Rome Flynn as a recurring guest star during the show’s upcoming fourth season.

Flynn will portray Frank Lucas, a country boy from North Carolina who ventures to Harlem and, after initial friction with gangster Bumpy Johnson (Forest Whitaker), eventually rises to become Bumpy’s fiercest defender and right-hand man.

Academy Award winner Denzel Washington first portrayed Frank Lucas in the 2007 film “American Gangster,” which is loosely based on the criminal background of the real-life gangster who operated a drug empire in New York City during the late 1960s and early 1970s. In the TV series, the character’s story will begin ten years earlier than in the film.

“When I saw Rome’s audition, I immediately knew we’d found our man – equal parts charming and ruthless, savvy and suave. Rome is a wonderful actor who can go toe-to-toe with Forest Whitaker and our other great performers,” said executive producer Chris Brancato of casting Flynn in the role.

“I’m filled with gratitude! Thrilled to be a part of the Godfather of Harlem universe and breathe new life into the legend of Frank Lucas,” said Flynn. “I have so much admiration for Forest Whitaker. Working opposite of him, being led by the brilliant creator Chris Brancato, is truly a gift. An actor’s dream.”

In Season 4, Bumpy Johnson (Whitaker) continues his bloody war for control of Harlem against New York’s Mafia families while contending with the emergence of a potential rival in newly arrived Black gangster Frank Lucas (Flynn). After Malcolm X’s (Jason Alan Carvell) tragic death, Bumpy must also grapple with his daughter Elise’s (Antoinette Crowe-Legacy) involvement with the Black Panthers.

Recently completing a six-episode arc on “Chicago Fire,” Flynn’s credits also include roles in such shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “With Love” and “Raising Dion,” among others. In 2018, Flynn won a Daytime Emmy Award for his portrayal of Zende Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

In addition to Flynn, “Godfather of Haarlem” will see the returns of actors Ilfenesh Hadera, Lucy Fry, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy and Erik LaRay Harvey, among others. The first three seasons are available to stream on MGM+.

ABC Signature produces the series, which is executive produced by Chris Brancato, Paul Eckstein, Forest Whitaker, Nina Yang Bongiovi, James Acheson, Markuann Smith and Ray Quinlan. Michael Panes and Stephen Schiff serve as writing executive producers, and Swizz Beatz serves as executive music producer.

Flynn is represented by Greene Talent, Weiner Management, imPRint, and Meyer & Downs.

  4. The View, General Hospital, GMA3: What You Need to Know, ABC, ABC Daytime

During the week of May 20-24, 2024, ABC’s daytime lineup consisting of “The View” (2.289 million), “General Hospital” (1.903 million) and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.291 million) continued to post alarming numbers among the key sales demographics, each hitting, tying or close to their season low in both unrounded Women 18-49 and unrounded Women 25-54 rating.

Eight weeks into the second quarter, “The View” and “General Hospital,” in particular, are seeing significant erosion in both key demographics, the most among all daytime broadcast shows compared with the second quarter in 2023, with declines among demo viewers near or above 30%. “GMA3: What You Need to Know” is experiencing declines above 25%.

Among Women 18-49 viewers, ABC is down at least 30%, while CBS’ lineup is down by single digits during 2Q24 compared to 2Q23.

As for Toal Viewers, nearly every show gained compared to their week ago performance (week of May 13-17, 2024), except for the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” (3.628 million) and “The Young and the Restless” (3.009 million). Despite gaining just +1,000 viewers over the week ago period, “General Hospital” averaged under two million viewers for the sixth consecutive week and the 12th time overall this season.

The only shows to see an increase compared to the same week last year were “The View” (+88,000), “TODAY 3rd Hour” (1.844 million; +77,000), “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” (1.336 million; +10,000) and “NBC News Daily” (1.136 million; +166,000).

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of May 20-24, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their performance during the comparable week last year. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly.

  5. Chrishell Stause, All My Children, Days of our Lives, Selling Sunset, Neighbours,

Chrishell Stause (“All My Children,” “Days of our Lives”) is joining the cast of Amazon Freevee’s “Neighbours” as a series guest star, it was announced on Wednesday.

The “Selling Sunset” star will begin taping in July at the Australian soap’s studio. She will play a newly created character named Yasmine “Yas” Shields, a glamorous and successful businesswoman who is in pursuit of an exciting new opportunity.

“I am honored and excited to join such a beloved and iconic show!” said Stause. “Coming from the world of soaps in the U.S., it’s back to my first love in the entertainment industry. They pitched me an idea for a character, and I was immediately excited to figure out a way to make it happen. Ramsay Street, here I come!”

“We are thrilled to welcome Chrishell to the cast of ‘Neighbours,’” said executive producer Jason Herbison. “We created a character especially for her and we can’t wait for her to bring the storyline alive. Expect intrigue and surprises – and many implications for the residents of Ramsay Street.”

  6. Johnny Wactor, Brando Corbin, General Hospital, GH, GH ABC, #GH, #GeneralHospital

A GoFundMe has been created to help support the family of Johnny Wactor, the former “General Hospital” actor who was fatally shot early Saturday morning after he encountered three unidentified individuals attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his truck.

“I want to raise money for his mother, Scarlett, and his brothers, Lance and Grant to be able to travel the distance of 2000 miles (the many times it may take) to take care of this heartbreaking business which they have been sentenced,” said Michaelle Kinard, Wactor’s godmother and the fundraiser’s organizer on the page, which is seeking to raise $100,000 towards reaching that goal.

Scarlett Wactor, Johnny’s mother, posted on Instagram that she and the Wactor family approved the page.

At press time, just over $60,000 had been raised since the page was created on Monday. “Any excess donations will be donated to the charities the family chooses in memory of Johnny,” noted Kinard on the page.

Last ditch effort for my once beloved soap.
    Let’s go!

It definitely sounds like a last-ditch effort. The show has never been one to top the ratings charts, but it's been on for quite a while, so hopefully, it can find a way to survive. It reminds me of Loving/The City, though.

  8. Hollyoaks, Lime Pictures

For the first time since November 2023, full episodes of the British soap opera “Hollyoaks” are available to stream in the United States.

Several recent episodes, beginning with an episode aired on Monday, May 6, were uploaded to the show’s official YouTube channel on Monday, May 27.

Going forward, episodes will be released with a one-week delay, similar to the show’s release schedule in the United Kingdom. This follows Channel 4’s decision last fall to transition the soap into a digital-first daily serial with episodes available to stream one day before premiering on E4. A weekly omnibus continues to air on Sundays on Channel 4.

Channel 4’s decision to transition the series came about because, according to Digital Spy, at least 64% of the youth-oriented program’s audience is watching via first-look streaming or on E4.

In March 2014, fresh episodes of “Hollyoaks” began streaming on Hulu, the streaming service owned by The Walt Disney Company. A representative for the company announced that they no longer had rebroadcast rights to the show. The final episode released on the service initially aired on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. Saturday when the victim approached three men in downtown LA, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

His mother, Scarlett Wactor, told ABC 7 that her 37-year-old son had left work at a rooftop bar with a coworker when he saw someone at his car and thought it was being towed. A mask-wearing suspect opened fire, his mother said.

Three suspects drove away from the scene, police said. Wactor was rushed to a hospital, where he died.

There were no arrests as of late Sunday.

As previously reported, former “General Hospital” star Johnny Wactor, who played Brando Corbin on the daytime drama series from January 2020 to September 2022, has died.

Wactor, 37, was reportedly shot and killed early Saturday morning when he was alerted of three individuals attempting to steal the catalytic converter from his car. According to his mother, Scarlett, who spoke with TMZ, Wactor did not try to stop or interfere in the theft but the unidentified individuals shot him anyway in their escape. Police have yet to release any information about the suspects.

According to NBC Los Angeles (KNBC/NBC4), the incident took place near the intersection of Hope Street and Pico Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles. Police were dispatched to the location at about 3:15 a.m. local time. Paramedics rushed Wactor to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“I just don’t understand what a senseless coward act by that person,” Scarlett Wactor said in a statement released to NBC4.

Following the news of his death, several of the actor’s former “General Hospital” co-stars took to social media to share memories of the beloved star, including former on-screen love interest Sofia Mattsson, who plays Sasha on the soap.

“My heart is so utterly broken… Johnny was the absolute best. So genuine. So caring. Incredibly hard working and humble. With a huge heart that spread so much kindness and joy,” said Mattsson in a post on Instagram. “He always made sure everyone around him felt seen, heard and loved. I admire the man he was so much and I’m a better person for having known him.”

“We shared so many special moments, both on and off screen, and I will forever cherish them deeply in my heart,” Mattsson continued. “You will be so incredibly missed Johnny… I’m sure you’re already busy taking care of everyone up there.”

On X (formerly Twitter), Kelly Thiebaud (ex-Britt) said in a post, “You were one of the good ones. I’m so sorry this happened to you.”

Chad Duell (Michael) also commented on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Some POS scum taking the life of someone who’s making something of themselves, and an amazing person. So disgusting and infuriating. Don’t know what else to say.. just so wrong.”

“Another talented, kind and generous @generalhospital colleague gone too soon. Deepest condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and fans of @WactorTractor,” stated Kathleen Gati (Obrecht) on X (formerly Twitter).

“When the tears slow down, I am literally sick to my stomach at this news. Johnny was one of those rare young men in this business who was kind, unassuming, humble, and always thought about other people,” said Jon Lindstrom (Kevin) on X (formerly Twitter).

“A talented young guy who just wanted to share that talent with the world,” continued Lindstrom. “I wish I had enough love to fill the hole that his loved ones must feel right now, but I know that’s impossible. Johnny will be missed on this plane. For a long time to come. R.I.P. @WactorTractor.”

“Just tragic, enraging & heartbreaking. What a lovely man Johnny was,” posted Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis).

“Gutted….  sending my deepest condolences to his family,” said Finola Hughes (Anna) on Instagram, who later added to her initial post, saying, “I feel I must add to this post. The shock is so terrible, for such a genuine young man to be taken so violently. I am incredibly sad for his family. He was a very hardworking person, kind and extremely respectful to his fellow cast members. I am so sorry for his loss Johnny Wactor xxx.”

In a lengthy post on Instagram, Kirsten Storms (Maxie) said, “I’m in a state of disbelief and complete sadness. I don’t typically do posts like this, but Johnny was such a special person and it feels important (for me) to put these words out there. To @johnnywactor ‘s mother and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I can’t imagine what you must be feeling right now. You are in my thoughts and prayers.” She added, “Johnny was one of those rare ‘real individuals’ that you almost never come across.”

“I was fortunate enough to have some really good conversations with him where we discussed things I don’t typically open up about,” Storms continued. “For some reason, we talked about the deep stuff. He was a safe space for those conversations and, in turn, he would talk about his life. He genuinely cared about people and their journeys in life. During his time on GH I witnessed him work hard and truly have respect for every single person in our building. I just cannot believe that his life was stolen from him the way it was. My heart hurts. RIP Johnny.”

“Heartbreaking. What an incredible man. “Deep love and prayers to Johnny’s family,” said Laura Wright on X (formerly Twitter). Wright made a separate post on her Instagram story, saying, “In shock. My heart breaks for Johnny’s family. You were an incredible man.”

“Honestly, words can’t begin 2 express the sadness with which 2 convey my feelings towards losing another #GH Alum,” shared William deVry (ex-Julian) on X (formerly Twitter). “The senselessness of this lose is beyond description. Johnny was such a good guy. Really horrible. RIP #JohnnyWactor & much love & comfort to those who loved him.

“Absolutely heartbroken while typing this. Johnny Wactor was not only my tv dad for more than 25 episodes on ‘General Hospital’ but he was a great human, a kind soul, an inspiration and a one of a kind actor,” said Ashton Arbab (ex-Dev) on X (formerly Twitter). “May your soul rest in peace. Heaven gained an Angel.”

“Johnny Wactor was a beautiful, beautiful soul. So talented. As you can see from the promo clip, always up for anything,” stated Perry Shen (ex-Brad) on X (formerly Twitter). “Funny as all heck. Fit as all hell but also loved ice cream and ate all the junk I did as well.”

“What a kind soul. We lost an amazing man,” said Cynthia Watros (Nina) on Instagram.

We all were cheated of many years with him.

Johnny Wactor is survived by his mother and younger brothers, Lance and Grant.

  13. Although there can be some confusion, web soaps are typically scripted shows written by fans for online readers. This is where forums like mySONTV and the blog feature came into existence.

Digital Dramas, or Web Serials, are typically scripted shows filmed by independent producers on a reduced budget compared to broadcast soaps. That's how I remember things.

After observing this "irritating ad" situation for another week or two, I am thinking the ad is just a symptom of the problem.  And the problem is much larger than simply an irritating ad. I think the larger issue is, something is taking almost complete control of the page.  In addition to the ad(s), it is changing the type font on the page, rearranging contents of the page, making the reply option completely disappear, and generally making the entire page unreadable and unusable. Could it be some kind of virus or malware (or some other form of corruption) that has invaded the site, or maybe even the host software?  I no longer believe it is just a legitimate ad that is malfunctioning.

There are no viruses on the site or server, nor any form of malware. The site is scanned meticulously every day and every hour. Please do not even question that.

The issue is related to CSS, which is design code. That's it. We are working hard to determine which ad provider's CSS code is causing this or if this has anything to do with the forum CSS code.

Stability was the word during the week of May 13-17, 2024 as each daytime broadcast series was mostly on par with their week ago performance in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating.

As for Total Viewers, the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” (3.716 million) saw the biggest week-to-week increase, adding +78,000 viewers. Conversely, “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.530 million) saw the biggest week-to-week decrease, losing -103,000 viewers, which also marked the show’s third smallest audience of the season.

“General Hospital” (1.902 million) saw its first week-to-week uptick in six weeks among Total Viewers, marking its best performance since the week of April 22-26, 2024. That said, the show remained below two million viewers for the fifth consecutive week and the 11th time overall this season. The show was flat with its week ago performance in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54, remaining ABC’s top daytime show in both categories.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of May 13-17, 2024 in Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their performance during the comparable week last year. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted shortly.

  18. CBS, Justin Hartley, Tracker, #Tracker

Concluding its inaugural season on Sunday, May 19, CBS’ “Tracker” has formally emerged as the #1 non-sports program on all of television for the 2023-2024 season, Nielsen reported on Wednesday.

Averaging 11.58 million viewers when factoring in Live+7 days of viewing, “Tracker” now ranks as the first new series since the 2000 launch of “Survivor” to rank as the #1 non-sports show. The series has amassed 81.6 million viewers since its February debut. On average, the show is adding +3.4 million viewers over its Live+Same Day average, attracting more DVR playback than any other primetime series.

In addition to being the #1 non-sports show of the season, “Tracker” is also the most-watched new series launch among Total Viewers since the debut of “Desperate Housewives” during the 2004-2005 television season – the ABC series averaged 23.7 million viewers.

When factoring in multiplatform viewing, “Tracker” averages 19 million viewers in Live+35 (the first seven episodes). The viewership sees the CBS drama attract more viewers than several recent streaming successes, such as Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” (15.5 million), “Baby Reindeer” (12.8 million) and “3 Body Problem” (11.0 million).

Since the 2016-2017 television season, CBS has consistently launched the #1 new series each season, starting with “Bull” (2016-2017), “Young Sheldon” (2017-2018), “FBI” (2018-2019), “FBI: Most Wanted” (2019-2020), “The Equalizer” (2020-2021), “Ghosts” (2021-2022), “Fire Country” (2022-2023) and now “Tracker” (2023-2024).

  19. John Nordstrom, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Bold & the Beautiful, Bold and the Beautiful, Bold & the Beautiful, Bold and Beautiful, Bold & Beautiful, B&B, #BoldandBeautiful

John Nordstrom is the Daytime Emmy Award-winning composer behind the music heard during each episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful.” In this role, he watches every episode, ensuring that the music he composes is well integrated into scenes and that the show’s library consists of distinguishable variations of the same themes, sometimes as many as 20 iterations of each, so that fresh material is available where and whenever needed by the show’s music editor.

Since joining the show in 2013, after previously composing music for “One Tree Hill” and “Judge Joe Brown,” among other shows, Nordstrom has composed more than 2,000 themes for “The Bold and the Beautiful.”

In honor of the release of “The Bold and the Beautiful (Music from the Series Volume Two),” Soap Opera Network recently sat down with Nordstrom, where we learned more about his work, how music fits into the series’ atmosphere, and how he convinced producers to bring music from the show straight to the fans.

    Meet John Nordstrom

Although John Nordstrom is based in Los Angeles, you might be surprised to learn that he lives and spends much of his time in Sun Valley, Idaho. There, he composed many of the tracks heard in Volume Two, something made possible by modern technology and the work-from-home era.

Despite not being on set all the time, Nordstrom watches the show every day as it helps him keep up with what music from the show’s vast library is being used by the music editor and producers, particularly how often. This fact is important, Nordstrom notes, because “If I’ve given them a version that they really like, and they’ve used it quite a few times, then I’ll send over a fresh version so that the music editor has options, and he doesn’t have to play the same exact piece every time if he wants that feel.”

Even with such a large catalog to choose from, Nordstrom continues adding to it, “complementing it with new, fresh pieces,” as evident by the release of Volume Two, which comprises music primarily composed within the last year to year and a half.

“Probably the oldest pieces [on the album] have been Finn and Steffy reunited, and then everything else was composed very recently,” Nordstrom states, giving insight on the addition of the first two tracks off the album that highlights the romance between “SINN,” the couple name dubbed by fans of Steffy Forrester and John “Finn” Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood and Tanner Novlan) as they reunited in Monaco.

    The Thought Process

“[When] I write music for SINN, or Steffy, where it needs a playfulness, then I’ll write one that has that. If it needs darkness to it, or if there’s a darkness that’s kind of hovering over the storyline and the scene, I’ll write a version with some dark strings or some low depth to it,” says Nordstrom of the difference in tone to each theme. “Every theme kind of needs to cover a lot of different types of scenes.”

Having options available also helps the music editor, particularly as how an actor performs a scene on screen sometimes differs from what’s written on the page. “The actors play it differently, obviously. They can play any way they want. But if the written page ends up having a different feel when they actually shoot it, then the music editor will [already] have what he needs to be able to add the mood,” points out Nordstrom.

    Evolution of Music

The idea to release music from “The Bold and the Beautiful” stems from Nordstrom’s previous experience as a composer for the series “One Tree Hill,” where fans of that show would write to him and post montages online using music he scored, a fact that led him to approach producers of the daytime drama series, particularly [executive producer and head writer] Bradley P. Bell.

“He had such respect for the fans that he immediately said, ‘Great, let’s do it!’” Nordstrom recalled the conversation he had with Bell, which led to the 2022 release of Volume One, consisting of 35 tracks. “It’s a very long collection of themes just because we had been working on the show for almost a decade,” noted Nordstrom.

As for Volume Two, consisting of just 21 tracks, Nordstrom reveals he approached producers about it only very recently, and it, too, didn’t take much to convince them. “I just approached them again and said, ‘Hey, can we do Volume Two?’ They immediately made a piece of artwork for me, and two weeks later, it was up there, ready to stream.”

When asked about the differences between composing music for a daytime series to that of a primetime show like “One Tree Hill,” Nordstrom says it pretty much boils down to quantity. “The amount of shows that ‘Bold and Beautiful’ has to produce every year, just the amazing turnaround, and the creative output that everybody on the team has to come up with, I would say that’s the biggest difference, but also just the fact that I that it’s a library of music, and just writing thousands and thousands of themes,” he shares.

While the music library continues to grow, Nordstrom still enjoys it when older themes are used in newer episodes. “I love the fact that they get used, that they come in and out of the show, and something that I wrote 10 years ago will come on today’s show,” he says, adding, “I just love revisiting something that I did a long time ago and hearing it coming out of the speakers, each one you’re connected to emotionally.”

Like some fans of the show, Nordstrom does not seek out what’s going to happen ahead of time, instead preferring to see how things play out on screen after the episodes are completed. “I like to see the aesthetic of how they shoot and how the actors approach everything,” he points out about his viewing habits.

“I really like to watch it when finished. So I’m just as shocked as everybody else. I mean, there’s stuff that I was not tipped off on that my wife would walk in, and we would both just be screaming because we can’t believe what’s happening,” exclaims Nordstrom. “I love the shock factor. I love being surprised. And so I don’t I don’t read ahead.”

What won’t come as a surprise is the release of Volume Three. While not currently in development, Nordstrom shares that another release will come at some point, and could include some older material. “I’m always writing new stuff, but I think what I’ll try and do is sneak in some of the older ones that weren’t on Volume One and Volume Two. I’ll try and sneak in a few of those,” he says.

Combined, music from “The Bold and the Beautiful” Volume One and Volume Two consist of nearly four hours of material, totaling 66 tracks. They are both available now on most music streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify.
