Unusual Things You'd Like To See Much More Of

I was wondering if there are any unusual things/storyines that hardly ever appear on soaps that you wish were shown much more frequently. For me, there are plenty of such things:

*Fat and/or ugly people being part of the cast

*Mundane things (such as characters talking about paying the bills or renovating their homes)

*Emergency situations (such as a character having a seizure)

*Religion and politics being freely discussed

*Characters talking about their favorite things (such as their favorite movies or foods)

*Characters dealing with unruly children

*Scenes that take place in a classroom or at a workplace

*Ethnic groups such as Asians and Arabs being shown

While there are many soap viewers who want their shows to be an escape from reality, I feel that the inclusion of the above things would help soaps become far more realistic (which hopefully would attract many viewers to this genre). I personally feel that the current crop of soap staples--such as characters coming back from the dead, never ending love triangles, and amnesia storylines--are failing the genre miserably.
