DAYS: Recast Kristen

From Dustin's character history of Laura Horton:

Laura was put on trial for killing Kristen DiMera. Mickey pleaded with her to take an insanity plea, but she refused. Luckily, Stefano showed up with Celeste, who's story got Laura off the hook for killing Kristen. Celeste remembered being at the Blake house and seeing Laura shoot at Kristen, and that Kristen fell down. Laura left, but Kristen got up. However, Laura was convicted of attempted murder and was ordered to be institutionalized pending a psychiatric evaluation. Marlena pulled some strings and managed to allow Laura to come home as an out patient. Laura was touched that Marlena did this and they became friends once again.

Huh? Wrong wrong wrong!

Everyone believes Kristen killed herself. Laura wasn't sent to a sanitarium...she was on-screen through September 1998 when she was dropped to recurring. She was a sounding board for Mike during his crisis with Ali. She eventually went to Africa to help her ex Bill with his clinic.

Kristen's death was ruled a suicide. Go dig up Dustin's old old recaps if you don't believe me.

I didn't say that you were lying, LoL. At the end of my post, I even said that I might be wrong.

I hated the "Killing Pool" storyline, and it was confusing as hell, so it's no surprise that I don't remember all the details quite well. I do remember Laura having a conversation with Mike and Jennifer where she begged them NOT to make her pretend to be insane to keep from going to prison over Kristen's death, though. She kept saying "I can't go back there again... I can't go back there again..."

Either way, that's all beside the point.

And after a few years in there, I'd like to think she would've gotten over the John obsession and would've focused all of her attention on getting revenge on Marlena.

I doubt it. She's crazy and thought John loved her and would take her back. She'd want to get revenge on Marlena AND get John back in the process.

You don't like the Killing Pool? My god, now everything you've said in this thread makes perfect sense....

How? When Tony woke up from his coma, he tracked down Stefano, but it was too late, Stefano was in that car crash and died...Stefano never had a chance to tell Tony that Kristen was alive, and why would he? Tony would be a threat to Kristen if she had Elvis and was raising him as Susan like he believed.

Except for the fact that Stefano never actually died in the car crash, as he's still alive today.

Tony doesn't seem to know/believe that.

Nope, I hated it.

Susan became too much. The introduction of Edmund Crumb was a joke. I didn't like the stupid harem/dungeon. I didn't like the outcome (Edmund Nobody was the killer, and Penelope -- a newbie we didn't even know about and ANOTHER Banks sibling-- was the real victim? Stupid!). I didn't like Kristen having to parade around as Susan. The whole thing was stupid as hell.

I mean, don't get me wrong... compared to many of today's stories, it's gold in comparison! I guess that saying I 'hated' it is a little strong... but it wasn't one of my favorites. Sally Sussman Morina SUCKED ASS. She was a poor man's watered down version of JER.

Why wouldn't Tony know that? He's the one who made up the lie. Certainly he doesn't believe his own lies, LoL

I loved it because it was so complex. Introducing a fifth character was cool because it made history for Eileen and DAYS, and it managed to be interesting while killing off a character no one was attached to. Edmund as the killer was good for the same reason, because Laura didn't fry for the crime, and he did it out of an act of love for Susan. AND Susan got her happy ending whereas Kristen got her just desserts, which means we (the viewers) and John and Marlena got a happy ending.

Susan-as-Kristen and Kristen-as-Susan are my favourite parts of Eileen Davidson's stint. I loved it when they'd switch. Kristen impersonating Susan was nice for a change. And Edmund was perfect for Susan because he was like the British, male version of her!

What lie? I truly thinks he believes Stefano is dead. EJ somehow intervened and saved Stefano, but led Tony to think Steffie was really dead.

Anyone can create fifteen day-player characters for someone to play. Making them worth something and memorable is the real challenge, IMO.

My favorite part of the storyline was Laura showing up to Kristen's funeral in the red dress.

Penelope was memorable because she was unlike Kristen or Susan. She was British.

Just because the clip was so good before...

"I wanted to PUNISH Marlena! I wanted to make her suffer for taking my baby away from me! That's why I sent Roman to the plane, I wanted him to see that she's not the saint she PRETENDS TO BE! I wanted to ruin her life just like she's ruined mine! But I'm the one that was hurt. Because Marlena, she just always ends up on top... she just always does."

Me! You claim to be an Eileen fan, but you don't appreciate all of her roles, most especially Susan.

Kristen's an evil bitch. She needs her good lookalike to interact with if her stint is going to be well-rounded.
