  2. Well, since you asked and I DO work for a living (ACTUAL work, not sitting behind a desk pushing buttons) I can tell you that I had the best year I've ever had, and all of my customers have been doing well also, otherwise they wouldn't be able to afford to have me do work in their yards. This year I've been able to pay all my bills, upgrade my computer, replace all the carpet in my house, get a new crystal chandelier for the bedroom, new eyeglasses, new dresser, new rabbit fur throw pillows for the sofa, and get my carport fixed. In the last month, I've been as busy as I usually am in MAY, and I'm still installing jobs even later today, the day before thanksgiving. And every one of my customers are liberal Obama supporters, and are very generous in referring me to others for work because I do good work and do it for about 50% less than the larger companies in town which will just send a crew of mexicans out to do your work. The only two times I've been told I charge too much is by conservatives.... one had illegal aliens do their work for 5 dollars an hour, and other didn't have the work done at all (she thought my minimum charge of 15$ was too high)
  3. And that's the reason he wasn't a successful president. He was too smart for the room. And too nice of a man to play the dirty games.
  4. I don't think Maceline was referring to birth control being free and provided by the government, I think she was talking about the debate of religious owned businesses not wanting birth control covered in their health insruance plans. The position of the administration (Hobby Lobby is the latest in this debate) is that when you run a SECULAR business, you shouldn't deny employees coverage based on your specific religious beliefs. Becae if you did that, a business run by Jehova's witnesses could say they didn't want blood tranfusions covered by their insurers. Soemthing tells me people wouldn't be defending THAT.
  5. I know... my Niece's father in law just put up the confederate flag as his profile picture on facebook (He's from TEXAS). A few days ago it was a weeping angel. What a moron! Thank God I'm not friends with him, I've only met the jerk once, and that's enough for me.
  6. I just looked it up, and the Australian medicare is funded by a 1.5% income tax. 1.5 effing percent? And we can't manage this? And their statistics show better results than us. But no, conservatives only harp on Canada, how their system is on the brink of collapse (It was supposedly on the brink 4 years ago) they harp about shortages of doctors...if there is a shortage of Doctors in Canada, it's for one reason... NOBODY WANTS TO LIVE ON THE TUNDRA.
  7. It comes from the fact that Amercians by and large are crass, entitled dickheads. I don't love this country at all (I love the land, though)... if I knew the language more fluently and didn't have my family here, I'd just assume live in Germany.
  8. Oh hell, yeah.. my Niece's father in law is convinced the Noreaster on the east coast is God's Judgement.
  9. having Obama for the next 4 years is going to very important for the Supreme court. Ruth Bader Ginsberg will likely retire, and we can HOPE that Double chinned !@#$%^&*] Scalia will leave the court in the next 4 years, and Obama can get someone with reasonable opinions in there.
  10. Amen to that! Once again, my Niece who has been indocrinated by her father to be a tea partier/theocrat posted this, and is a perfect example of why the Republicans lost last night: Goodbye economy (at least what we had left of it). Hello more taxes, higher unemployment, insane sky high debt, and even lower morals. I know that's a negative statement, and I don't care. It doesn't mean it isn't true. We're following in the footsteps of Rome. Yes, God is still in control and he can accomplish his will through it all, but it doesn't mean I have to like what's going on. The thing is, her OWN grandfather (my father, a baptist minister, who she didn't bother to send flowers to his funeral) voted for Obama in 2008, and so did my mother, and my mother voted for Obama last night. And of all the badmouthing my neice does about Obama the last couple of days, she sure didn't turn down Obama's first time home buyer's credit!!! I wanted SO BAD to tell her to give that credit BACK if she's so against his policies... but I have to opt to keep peace in the family (sigh) But this is the mindset we're dealing with.
  11. Well...I watched all night on ABC (Big mistake, they called the election 30 minutes behind everyone else) but Diane did seem a little off her mark, or loopy, or something. I watched on KMIZ in Columbia thinking they'd ahve less interruption of national coverage than the Kansas city stations, and they had MORE, cause there was some nut running through the streets in Columbia shooting people. Somehow I picture it being a tea partier gone off his rocker.
  12. George Takei is of the opinion that Diane Sawyer had been drinking tonight. I do see his point.
  13. Can someone exceuse me while I throw up. My niece just posted earlier on ehr facebook "Praying for our country", and then when Obama was announced the winner, she wrote "Lord help us". Really? And she wanted a man to win whose religion teaches that HERS is an abomination? Good grief.
  14. That was brilliantly put, Marceline.
  15. I'm so glad someone finally psoted the whole thing. I listen to it regularly on my turntable, but nobody seems to have one anymore, so it's nice that these cna be heard by the majority of people. I'm incredibly tantalized by that list. Where did it come from? And do they ahve any of those clips, and just haven't posted them yet? I'm dying to know.
  16. It's always trbouled me how Republicans time and time again steal pop songs for their campagins without asking, and having to be served with cease and desist orders. It didn't used to be that way, they used to ahve their own campaign songs written FOR THEM. Even tricky Dick didn't steal someone else's song:
  17. Well, Newt is predicting Romney to win by OVER 300 electoral votes. He's kind of delusional, ain't he?
  18. Yeah, that crazy bitch at :55 thinks Mitt Romney is a Christian? She thinks Mormons are Christians? Yeah, sure... I bet she thinks jews are christians, too.
  19. I have to say it would be sweet revenge for 2000 if Obama lost the popular vote and won the Electoral vote. Then you will hear for calls to get rid of the Electoral college.. and the democrats can stick their tongues out when it bites the Republicans in the butt.
  20. Brian, your'e negating the Mormon factor. It's his achilles heel. 95 percent of all conservative christians consider Mormonism to be a cult, and that opinion is not to be undervalued. There are ones that vote the straight abortion ticket and don't care baout ANYTHING else. But those aren't a high percentage.
  21. That does happen in cetain sectors, I mean, there have even been songs written about such things. Personally, I would feel HORRIBLE if I had to pay for sex. Bill Maher shouldn't have to, either. He's not that great looking, but it's been said he has "other" qualities, so why would he have to pay for it, uinless he wants only these perfect Barbie doll model types.
  22. That makes alot of sense. My great uncle was the only survivor of 120 men trapped in a massive mining disaster in 1951. So yeah, there are MANY occupations that are way worse and more dangerous.
  23. It depends on what constitutes a "Sex worker". A prositute, I can understand... but a porn star... they provide a wonderful service to the world.
  24. Yes, Republicans should not get their hopes up. The Mormon thing is the big silent game changer here. As a Baptist, we were brought up to believe that Mormonism is a cult. And that attitude is still out there in spades.
