I think the fans trashed the character of Liz far more than TPTB ever did. At most they ignored her, but the fans pushed hard and in an attempt to give the fans what they want - ALWAYS a mistake, because fan's as a whole want immediate gratification and don't appreciate the value of story begetting story. Every time TPTB tried to give Liz more edge the backlash was huge. And this is what you get - a character who's had every avenue ended. Robin is having the same experience now and KMc will either have to leave or Patrick will have to die, but Scrubs will make it impossible for Robin to have another story or relationship. It was the same thing with Laura a decade ago. And currently Sam is in danger with this whole baby discussion. Sure those who wanted the fairy tale LnL-that-would-last-forever got a few years, but the reality is by putting a character in the role of mother and only focusing on the assumption of "SuperCouple", the character is basically ruined. Any attempt to go elsewhere is never allowed. And SURE fanfiction can do all sorts of things, but the reality of fanfiction is that it can be all consuming and doesn't really care about the other characters nor the future of stories in general. Sometimes it's quite amusing to see fans get what they want - some even put together that maybe they didn't want it after all. But when it backfires those same fans ALWAYS blame TPTB rather than seeing that this is just the nature of the Daytime beast. At least Prime Time has a natural timeline of 7 years so the damage to characters is significantly muted. And I don't believe for one second that a group of seasoned professionals who are doing a job would be "pissed" that someone else overturned a staffing decision at the last minute. I'm sure they are far too busy trying to restructure to incorporate the character back in than have a child-like hissy.

I don't think this was Becky's exit - I think it was leading up to her having a final mental breakdown as and exit story and that's what has been changed. But I do agree that this is about Luke now, and eventually will be about others as the tale continue to unwind. I'm sure we'll have parts of this going on for months, potentially years, yet. And I seriously doubt TPTB are "pissed" about Becky staying, they are now just scrambling with what to do for a character who's a dead end at every turn.

Luke hasn't been the Anti-hero for ages, so it is nice to see them publicly acknowledge that it's the end for that particular myth. It makes a nice additional story - what happens when the super hero ages rather than dies heroically in his prime? Would Superman have a beer gut? Would Wonder Woman be dying her hair and pretending her hip still worked? Would Batman have arthritis in his joints from one too many falls? Would the Hulk be addicted to narcotics? Along with death, we also don't want to deal with age. Since the story is about Luke, they were dealing with a tighter time frame (having wasted the Fall with Brendah's Men). I imagine this informed the speed of this tale - which ultimately was about Luke anyway, not Jake.

Especially when you have the idiotic Max making appearances - he rarely adds anything to the show and only in the form of comedy. He can make an appearance but Bobbi can't? That's just wrong. Other than that I'm really fine with this entire story. It's just Bobbie that bother me.

The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
Without doubt the only true hole in this story is Bobbi's absence. All the others who might be involved can be easily explained away, but Bobbi is a glaring omission especially considered she's supposed to be on recurring so there's no excuse.

Good. I've got to catch up - I haven't even seen Friday yet. This move has been all consuming. We have a date to look for new apartments - end of April just after Easter. I'm not excited yet but I'm looking forward to getting that final piece settled. Then I can relax into this move. Found out the gov-mint even packs for us. I'm not complaining. I took a few minutes, but I finally processed what you said. The AIR HOGS were cut because they needed TIME for other stories? Really? Are the planets in alignment or something?

Why was the honeymoon cut Hooked, do you know? Not that I'm complaining - I've had enough of the Brenduh that ate Port Charles.

The Spencers are having a hard time and being pulled apart individually, but I don't think they are being pulled apart as a family. If this had been 5 years ago they'd be done…. done, done, done. But over the years Tracy has put this family back together and I just love that it's Tracy to whom Lulu runs when everything crashes. Also found these spoilers on DD tonight. As always people - GOS….. but it sounds like it tracks with what we've heard elsewhere and seen: From Facebook - Jason hands Luke a loaded gun, and demands that Luke kill himself. When Luke refuses, Jason points a gun at his chest and is about to shoot, but relents, saying he needs to set a better example for Michael. - Liz blames herself, despite the revelation of Luke's guilt. She goes up to Luke and apologizes, saying she's sorry her negligence has caused him to have to shoulder this guilt for the rest of his life. - Luke warns Lucky that he suspects Liz is loosing her sanity. - Lucky and Tracy demand that Luke go into rehab to deal with his drinking problem, but Luke refuses, claiming that the drinking didn't cause him to kill Jake, but that it was instead his own fault due to driving fast at night. - Luke visits Jake's grave and breaks down. - Luke and Sonny sit down and discuss their mutual failures. Sonny laments having shot Dante and blames himself for Michael's rape and Kristina's abuse, while Luke regrets his recent screw up with regards to Jake. - Lucky goes to Luke and asks for some advice with regards to his feelings towards Siobhan and Liz, but Luke refuses to help, saying he's not in the right state of mind to be of any use to him. - Lucky goes ahead and marries Siobhan to keep her in the country. - Carly and Lulu express concern about Luke's erratic behavior, and give Lucky some advice. - Luke's drinking gets even worse, and he soon becomes violent and unstable. - Lucky tries burying himself in work to ignore the pain, but Jason approaches him to discuss parenthood, as well as Luke's current condition. - Tracy demands that Luke admit what really happened the night that Jake died. - Tracy and Lucky will, before the end of May, convince Luke to enter rehab. We won't see Luke again until sometime in September. I do have to say, if the reason for TG's vacation is given as Luke in rehab, then I'm all for it. I don't see any logic to him "running" at this age and stage, and aside from the kidnapping the other year which meant it was out of Luke's control, this is the first time he will be leaving with Tracy's support, blessing and involvement. I'm not sure if coming from FB gives it more legitimacy or not - I didn't see this on FB nor did I bother looking for them.

Oh, I remember that was the show where said there were only two professions in the world where you were paid to kiss strangers. LOL….. I love how her mind works.

Deck chairs on the Titanic, TQ - a total waste of their energy and won't change a thing. Just ignore them - they have nothing. The entire gaggle of hardliners seems to be under the mistaken impression that they are "due". For what, I can't imagine. It's quite irrational to me and totally fails to appreciate that actors want new things to do as well as new people to work with AND this is continuing drama, not sticking-with-one-story-and-rehashing-it drama. Bitter Bettys most of them - not worth your effort. I've seen on some YT videos that the originator is allowed to assess if the comments will be posted or not. You might want to up your security so not just any Tom, Dick or Harry can post after your vids.

Fabulous. I can't wait to see the whole article. I'm laughing my way through the comment sections in various message boards. Do people even realize how a soap is supposed to work? It's almost as if they want constant koolaid and to be pacified into easy watching. Daytime - as TG so aptly put it - is about bleeding all over the place. I think the constant nostalgic focus on the 80's and SuperCouples has dulled the viewership. The amazing part of daytime is enduring the "hair models" who see this as a stepping stone while embracing the truly gifted who can bring an incredible range to the screen from almost nothing, and do it quickly. This is not the place for Divas who have to build themselves into the moment. This is the place to truly look at the human condition and the ramification of actions. I'm not invested into the characters who die - they're all fiction anyway. I'm here to watch the story in the hands of masters, and for too long we haven't gotten any of that. I now can't wait to see how this plays out.

What a great article. I love TG's take on that - who cares if he has fans, he's got a great story. Nice to also see definitely that Tracy is quite involved. Anyone see the SID article yet? I'm wondering what he's got to say in that one.

The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
I hope not, that would ruin the integrity of TG's performance and Luke's story.

The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
I've got to say, this show is so much better to watch without the idiots on message boards. Aside from Carly's self-centeredness and Scrubs obsession with Lisa, the whole show was a powerhouse of emotions. BH is finally making me cry, and Luke has no idea - not even the concept - that he could be the one. That is where this story is going to be impressive.

The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
that's too simple a story

I haven't seen today, but something is certainly causing him pain on the right side of his head. I think there's something more dramatic going on and Luke's drinking might be covering it up unintentionally. Spoilers (not sure of source) say Lucky covers for Luke, possibly around Jake's death. IMO the only reason Lucky would do that was if Liz was understandably out for blood but the Spencer clan know there's more at stake and need to get to the bottom of it before any decisions are made.
-
The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
He's been demonstrating that pain in the head. I know everyone will want to assume it's drinking, and perhaps he's using alcohol to "self medicate", but I think it's bigger than that.
-
The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
I think Luke's health is wonky and he's not being upfront with Tracy. That will put her through the roof.

The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
I blow hot and cold on Skye. I've watched her since AMC. I thought one of Alan's best potential pairings was Rae, but they took that away.
-
The Tracy Quartermaine Lovefest
IMO aside from Lila, who can't be there, and Ned and Dillon, who are pursuing their dreams, all the interesting Q's are there. The thing is whether TPTB choose to build on it or not is one thing, but the Qs DO exist in number.

Oh, I saw those interviews - too funny. Remember the other year when asked who she wanted Diane to be involved with was Luke, but she knew Tracy would have her for lunch, or something like that, lol? I don't care if it's the standard line, LuNacy love is a beautiful thing as is appreciation for JE and TG. I don't know that Luke would ask her for that. Covering up the accident wouldn't stop him from knowing the truth and Luke is all about self-punishment. He doesn't fear jail.
