  1. This blind item from Crazy Days & Nights is obviously about DAYS. I tend to think the vast majority of these blinds are made up, but I imagine there's a lot about this one that is sadly true:

"Want to keep working on this show? Do whatever the executive in charge says and turn a blind eye to what he does. Want to work on a different show, but the same field? Don't ever say anything bad about the executive. This former actress turned reality star got a stark reminder of that when she posted something negative to social media and took it down very quickly. Everyone covers for the executive. Does he have a casting couch? Yes. Does he sexually harass subordinates? Every single day. Does he care? No he does not. Despite what has been recently said about him, he knows his job is not in danger. He produces results and deals with talent and crew and gets it all done way under budget. He is a huge profit earner for the big company and everyone knows if this show goes down, the whole industry goes down. Thousands of people would be out of work. Thousands of high paying jobs gone in a flash. There was already one downturn. They don't want extinction. There are ancillary companies that only survive because of this industry. So, whatever pushback might be normal, is not so in this case. There is no independent third party to put pressure on the executive. There are no harsh words. The survival of so many rely on them being complicit in everything bad that occurs. Things are so complicit that reporting from specific publications choose to not even mention anything about bad things that go on, let alone things that are being reported in the past week. If they did, they would be writing their own pink slips, plus they would never be allowed to interview anyone from the show he controls. It is a fiefdom made for abuse and everyone watches it happen, but are only looking out for themselves."

Agreed, I feel like it is just as unfair to burden actors with making a statement about this case which may affect their workplace relationships as it to judge those who will continue to work under these conditions.

Yes, I wouldn't expect any current cast members to say anything, certainly not while Alarr is still there. It seems he's a vindictive little cuss, why put a target on your back?

Few are left who know how to maintain this kind of production cycle, and few new people are allowed to be trained or cultivated in writing or production if they're not close friends or family

I assume this is why Alarr is still there and hasn't been at least suspended. Soap fans have agitated for new writing & production talent for years, and it's always been a lost cause. There's no talent pipeline and shows aren't going to take a chance with folks from a non-soap background.

Men also have been publicly bullied on set, with at least one male cast member departing abruptly after Alarr screamed at him in front of cast and crew. According to a source close to the situation, the verbal attack happened after the actor had gotten a hair trim,

The only actor I can recall who had a buzz cut was Greg Vaughan, though I don't remember when or if he was on or off contract at the time.

Okay, I have returned to the subject of Irene Dailey's 1979 Best Actress Emmy. Someone's told me that they believe she won it for one scene, which could have been the way they did eligibility then, and she was talking to Michael Randolph & expressing that she did not feel valued or needed within the family. Does anyone remember this?

I don't recall that scene specifically but AbcNbc247 posted a compilation a few weeks ago on this thread that included a 1976 scene between Michael & Liz in which she expressed much the same sentiment. It's really quite heartbreaking, the kind of character beat soaps used to do all the time but don't anymore. It's on page 610 of this thread and the scene kicks in at about 20:00.

AbcNbc247, I meant to thank you back then for posting this and I was remiss – I really appreciate it, I loved every bit of it.

Alex lives across the hall from Chad and Stephanie. And nothings been said onscreen, but since their kitchen is identical to Chloe and Xander’s, I guess it makes sense for them to live in the same building

Yes, it makes perfect sense that gazillion-dollar heirs Chad and Alex would live in the same apartment building as broke-ass Xander. (Would somebody at least touch up the paint on the door frames? It's filthy.)

  7. I loved Irene Dailey but Aunt Liz was the epitome of a supporting character. She didn't belong in the Best Actress category.

That neither Wyndham nor McKinsey ever got an Emmy pretty much invalidates the entire concept of the awards, IMO.

I assumed Vicky just stopped submitting herself some time in the early '80s.

This is a list of actors who appeared on AW who later went on to have success in primetime or film or the theatre. Do you know of anyone not on this list, who should be?

Joe Morton (twins Abel Marsh and Leo Mars) has had a pretty nice career.

  9. I dipped into GH during the Luke & Laura heyday and I was never a fan of them but I did almost instantly fall in love with two characters: Denise Alexander's Leslie and Jackie Zeman's Bobbie. I never watched the show regularly but I was happy to see either one of them on the rare instances I did. In the last decade, I'd tune in if I knew either of them would be in a particular episode. Unfortunately, that turned out to be exceedingly rare.

I can't even believe she was 70 years old, let alone that she's now gone. I'm grateful for all the entertainment and enjoyment she provided over the years.

Would someone really not approve something good like Bo and Hope going off together, but would approve some of the crap we’ve seen in the last year?

I think the things we've seen on screen in the last few years give credence to the idea that someone wouldn't approve a decent Bo-Hope story. It's pretty clear that "someone" has no sense of a good story or what the DAYS audience wants to see.

I wasn’t expecting an increased budget but they should have the most creative freedom and all they do is wash, rinse, repeat.

Yes, this really is mystifying me. I never thought the move to Peacock would spur a reinvention of the soap genre, but I looked forward to a little tinkering around the edges, at least. But it's the same old tired tropes, done in the same tired old ways.

I don't mind Kit and Joey. I find Russ and Tracy so boring, same for brooding Mitch, John McBain's long lost father.

I loved Joey, but was bored to tears by Kit and her entire family. Russ and Tracy were also snoozeville. William Gray Espy was such a sluggish actor, he lowered the drama quotient just by appearing in a scene.

I agree that Blaine, Cecile and Pat were the main draws during this really dull AW phase. I fault the writing and the directing.
