Hot take: Y&R should really consider recasting Jill. With Tucker being de-aged a little, Jill should be too since they were supposed to be born on the same day. Plus, Jess is semi-retired and is not coming back to full-time.
Someone like Vanessa Marcil as nu-Jill to fit with TSJ's Tucker?

Reading the entire thread once again...
I can't believe how many similarities L&F had with Generations. Both set in Chicago, with a formerly poor family moving in a big house, previously owned by rich people who lost their fortune. Ellie Saxton is similar to Ruth Marshall, both poor daughters who want to be accepted by the high society.
L&F reads a lot like the movie Interiors (like Carl said some ten years ago). Adult, sophisticated drama. And all these workplace stories sound fascinating. And what an amazing music theme the show had. I guess casting was its biggest problem, charismatic actors might have made up for the slow start. The idea behind FRFP was insane from the start. It would have never worked.

Great actor, wrong part. And the timing for his character was bad because headwriter Doug Marland passed away before he could guide the Royce multiple personality story to its natural conclusion. Between Neal's untimely death and the anti-climactic way Lucinda discovered Neal and Royce were her half-siblings, the storyline kept missing the mark. And, while beautiful, the actress playing Emily (Royce's love interest) never generated any heat with her male co-stars. That being said, Royce eventually left the canvas to focus on his emotional healing AND to spare Emily any future hurt that she was certainly destined to experience by being married to him.
So Royce was Marland's chance to tell the Carrie Todd story the way he wanted?

Didn't Bill Bell offer her the part of Stephanie Forrester on B&B? Or was it Jamie Lyn Bauer?
Marla Adams, what a stunning woman.
Brenda Dickson IS Jill. It is fascinating to compare these scenes to the ones from 1974 in the hair salon on the C mansion for the first time.
I think that in the long run it was a mistake to focus so much on the Newman family. Especially after Heather Tom was gone.

I tried reading Tucker's history and it was a mess. Why would someone want any of that back?
The show had the perfect chance to bring back Brooks Prentiss with TSJ for the 50th anniversary.
This screams Ashland 2.0.

I can't believe that Y&R is stupid enough to lose MM twice.
This woman should be the star of the show, but TPTB prefer to play musical chairs with the Sallys, the Chelseas, the Victorias and the Phyllisses.
Y&R is a boring and bored show.

Jill and Lauren on Y&R. Thank God.

I can't buy TSJ as Devon's father and as someone who is supposed to be older than Brock Reynolds, the same age as Jill, old enough to be Chance's grandfather BUT... if he -and Diane- can take us away from the Newman-Abbott-Phyllis Groundhog Day show...
(Please don't kill them off within a year because the marriage to Victoria and the affairs with Nick, Adam and Billy will be badly written)

It would be a huge mistake to hire TSJ in order to play a bland character like Dylan (who was never needed in the first place), or someone in Jill's age (who was never needed in the first place).

So this Audra character is contract?
Who is available for her?
.... Nick, Adam and Billy might make some room for her.

Josh Griffith has some weird fascination with B&B. He tries to involve B&B characters in Y&R stories for no real reason most of the time. Isn't Summer in the fashion business with Marchetti? Why would she wear something from Forrester?

I can buy Newman Enterprises being Genoa City’s lone Fortune 500 company that is a conglomerate in the same nature of Proctor & Gamble or Colgate Palmolive. NE having sectors of media, oil, and energy is utterly ridiculous though. And have a very stable corporate leadership minus the occasional scandal/controversy.
I can buy Jabot Cosmetics as a family owned medium mid-sized cosmetics company that’s proven to be a formidable underdog to NE’s own cosmetics line as well as others. But a very famous world class Milan fashion house relocating to GC? GMAFB.
Fenmore’s I can buy as a last man standing regional department store held on by its west coast division and by it opening a successful off-price spinoff in the same vain of Ross and TJ Maxx but to have Lauren talk about Fenmore stores in Dubai and London……????
The rest of GC has no place in business really. AHVictoria and Abby should be running a local art gallery and auction house together Nate and Elena doctors at the hospital, Billy owning the GC Chronicle on the side while butting heads with its editor Lily, Amanda is the new town lawyer while Imani operates her own PI firm, Phyllis runs a local fiber Internet business, Devon owning his own entertainment venue and nightclub, Chloe, Chelsea and Kevin all three locked up in the mental hospital etc.
I like everything you wrote. Everything is bigger than life for no real reason and no real drama comes out of it.

I love how they are celebrating the most random, uninspired pairings.

It pains me that they've introduced multiple characters who could be Brooks AND they've brought back Lorie and Leslie, but they've never done anything with any of it. With the family having a background in media they'd be incredibly easy to revamp, but nobody seems to get it right. Even when Jamie Lyn Bauer came back in 2001 the story made no sense and was so disconnected from her history on the show.
What was that all about? Were they thinking of introducing a Hollister family?

It should have happened. EJ was twisted enough to use Will to get back at Sami and Will was head strong enough to go against his mother. It would have been fire works. It didn't have to be a romance (maybe in Will's head) no need to make people love or ship this couple. It should have been a dark story. They were going there with Kristen at the time, dark I mean.
They should have done this. On ATWT they had Lucinda marry a character played by Laurence Lau, who was obsessed with Luke. (If I remember correctly).

Humm then he did it twice? Because I've just watched a couple of 1991 ATWT Episodes and Angel was there giving her testimony about her father's Abuse, the character sounds fascinatingly complicated, I wonder if she could've been a DID Victim as well, if Marland Stayed on I mean
Lily also suffered from DID

Sounds interesting. But what could it be?
Lets hope it is not a health scare.
The abortion? (TSJ ends up being Victor and Ashley's son?)0 -
Josh Griffith loves his B&B crossovers.
I never understood why Eric and Felicia Forrester had to show up in Genoa City, or Courtney Hope had to portray a B&B character on Y&R.It will probably be a Forrester-Marchesa fashion show (JG prefers fashion to cosmetics drama) with some Sheila drama.

Donna/Eric
Donna and Eric settle into couples life and get involved with their family's drama.
This sounds so exciting!

Please don't make TSJ Victor and Ashley's aborted baby.

So I guess Avery, Sage, Austin and Trevor are coming back.

Josh Griffith loves bringing his pets back. First Adam, then Stitch and now Dylan. It's his M.O.!
Didn't he also bring Chelsea back?
Y&R really needs a new headwriter.

Dylan?
What a horrible character to bring back, but you are probably right. He was never needed, he was just created as a vehicle for Steve Burton. Isn't Chance the town cop these days?
Josh Griffith will do the wrong thing again .

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
in DTS: Cancelled Soaps
Posted · Edited by SAPOUNOPERA
Santa Barbara suffered from 80s soap syndrome. Once the Dynasty-supercouple madness was gone, they had no idea what to do with a Capwell show without Cruz and Eden or their other big stars.
This episode is so awkward. The Capwell kids and Rosa-Santana scenes reminded me of a telenovela.
