Are you telling me that none of you saw the first episode of Valiant Lady? None of you heard the last radio episode of Ma Perkins?

Excuse me but I thought in my history at SON (since before 2009) everyone had a right to their own opinion and could express it without fear of attack.! I may not post as much as I used to but I am not a troll!

And for the record, The Secret Storm was originally disappointing but it got better over time!

The Guiding Light and As the World Turns were the exceptions. I stuck with them and recorded their episodes regularly until cancellation, even though the material was painful, and even though I often just fast-forwarded through entire episodes at a time.

    Same here!

Papa Bauer, Bert,Mike and Ed, Peggy and Leslie,  Pa Hughes, Nancy and Chris, Bob and Lisa  were like old family friends to my parents ,grandparents and to me growing up!

Funny, the things I loved about CBS and NBC soaps are the very characteristics other people ridiculed.

I totally agree. Plus the NYC based soaps (which CBS and NBC had a lot of ) employeed a lot of Broadway actors who were - better  actors!

I am streaming the Doctors on the It's Real Good TV app.

I am in 1973 and  I will watch 5 or 6 episodes a day. I love it. It is old fashioned soap that has gone out of style.

The Pollocks are good writers but they do a lot of recapping and flash backs. This brings on fast forwarding which helps me watch multiple episodes.

I think Nick and Althea are too smart to have  put up with Cathy and John and their shenanigans for so long.

They have introduced Laurie James - a nurse turned singer back to nurse  and a  former lover of Hank Iverson. They are wearing out that song 'No Way'. They even had Matt Powers listen to it in his office. I don't remember that song at all. Was it ever a hit on radio?

I love Martha! She tells it like it is and is not afraid to put her boss Nick in his place. Carolee is a favorite too.

  5. Karen is a great villianess. She will quiverand whimper at first when she is told off by Althea ,Maggie or Steve but all of a sudden lash back like a devil when attacked.

I love Carolee Campbell's  ticks and quirks and wil miss her when Jada Rowland steps in. I loved Jada on the Secret Storm and am curious about her take on the role.

  6. 1970's episodes are out of order. You have to watch the dates as you watch the show.

I am enjoying the show. Even Ira Avery"s time there were some good stuff. Some didn't like his material. He doesn't last that long. I have said before that the Pollock's do a lot of recapping and flashbacks but I am still  loving their stories. Makes it hard when you binge watch like I do. I fast forward during those.

Is anyone other than me currently watching ?

I am! I am enjoying the 30 minute old school drama! I wish Rita Lakin had stayed longer! I am in Feb. 1972 and it is still good. I binge watch. I may watch 1, 2 or even 3 weeks worth at a time.

I never watched The Doctors when it came on originally but I am enjoying it now. True soapy goodness in every episode. Rita Lakin is a great writer. I loved EH as Lucinda on ATWT but she is great here. She deserves every accolade she gets!

  10. I am watching NBC's The Doctors on the It's Real good TV app. Never watched it the first time because we were CBS people. Rita Lakin is a great writer. She was joined by Rick Edelstein. I just noticed she is gone and he is solo. I hope the quality keeps up.

I wish Rita had written some of my CBS favorites.

I was a die hard ATWT fan . I watched for over 30 years. When Hogan Sheffer took over it got hard to watch and for me ,almost unwatchable the last 2 years. I tried to hold on but I stopped watching every day and read the boards and magazines to catch up on what I did not see.

Still, I miss As the World Turns. In its' heyday when it was ran by good writers and producers who cared, it was must watch, don't miss TV.

The Young and The Restless is at that point now!

Wasn't Robert Cenedella the creaor of Somerset?

I have always been curous about him. There is not a lot of info on him. He wrote for many soaps but his tenure was never long. Was he not considererd a successful wrier or just someone who was lucky to be hired and rehired at different soaps?

  13. GL :If I am not mistaken, the Coopers were going to be Bauers - related to Johnny Bauer. Pam Long returned and made them Coopers.

The Santos family were to be the Santo family before they added the "S". That is a lot better. I did not care for the Santos family though!

Before 1982 Bay City was anywhere or nowhere. It just was never stated. Then, in 1982 someone decided to place it & they put it outside of Chicago, in Ilinois just like all the other towns in Irna Phillip universe - Oakdale, Springfield, Henderson, Somerset, I'm blank, but there are a few more.

Why would Henderson be a part of the Irna Phillip's universe? Irna didn't create it.Agnes Nixin ( her protoge ) did head write and may have helped to create it but Roy Winsor and Irving Vendig was there at the beginning too.
