It's nice to know we have SUCH a mature man running this country. But seriously. First, we had the video of someone with "CNN" superimposed over his face being body-slammed WWE-style. Now, this. This is like placing a target on the back of every man and woman who works for CNN. An open invitation, if you will, for kooks out there to take 'em out on sight. If I were Jeff Zucker, I'd get security detail for all my network's on-air personalities pronto. Oh, and by the way, Donald? We still haven't forgotten about Russia.

Ryan Leaf's ghostwritten apology for accosting that journalist in the locker room was more sincere than the drivel Trump was forced (under duress, apparently) to deliver today. And that's considering the fact that Leaf literally crumpled up HIS statement when he finished reading it and tossed it over his shoulder into his locker.

What do you want to bet the protesters who toppled that statue will end up serving more jail time than Jimmy "J.J." Fields? LOVE. IT.

Good question, Roman! I wondered that myself! It's not as if no one knew who Richard Spencer was or what he espoused before last weekend. I suspect, though, they might have canceled, because they don't want another Charlottesville on their hands. It's sad but it's true: sometimes, it takes people dying before others start paying attention. That's because Nixon had managed (somewhat) to rehabilitate his image in the years following Watergate. IDK whether he ever truly felt repentant about his actions or was merely fronting; but whenever I saw him on this-or-that program, he always appeared to me as a broken man. Trump...? Nah, that day's never gonna come. Even if he's pushed out of the WH and sent up the river, he'll just double down like he always does.

Frankly, I wish he would own it. We already KNOW he is one of them by his actions and inactions. We know that white supremacists everywhere have interpreted his ascendancy as an open mandate to preach their hate; and we know his base will continue to support him and explain away his failings no matter what. So why not just admit you do, in fact, believe whites to be the superior race, and that when you promised to "Make America GREAT Again" you actually meant to "Make America WHITE (and Male and Heterosexual and Elitist) Again"? Whaddya have to lose, Donny? Even if you DO end up impeached (and with this GOP, that's a BIG if), it won't be because you can't stand anyone who isn't like you.

Oh, perfect timing, Mr. President. [/sarcasm] As usual, marceline's right: we can't count on him to be "more presidential." It just ain't in him. So he can keep pulling bullshit like this. We'll just keep calling him out on it until (God willing) he's no longer in office.

And to them, I say, "What about the ones it DOES impact? Does your line of sight extend only as far as your own back and front yards? Do you not understand that Christianity's most basic tenet is to put others' needs before your own? Or do you pay about as much lip service to the virtue of selflessness as the illiterate, misogynistic racist you helped put into the WH?"

Well, that's what happens when some people, no matter how NOT racist they profess to be, can't take a Black man with a funny-sounding name as their leader.

Frankly, it doesn't matter when or even if Bannon leaves. One, the damage has been done; and two, Trump doesn't need Bannon to make him racist. As his inglorious track record proves, Trump is more than enough racist on his own.

And yet, in his speech before the Republican Nat'l Convention, he told us, the African-American community, he could see us, bleeding and crying in our drug-infested streets; and he promised, both at the convention and on Inauguration Day, to clean up our neighborhoods, so our children and grandchildren could walk safely again... ...or some jive honky b.s. like that. Good thing we didn't believe him, though, lol. Actually, I want him to keep trying (and failing). It's certainly a lot funnier than anything Chuck Lorre could come up with.

In response, Orange tweets: TrumpCo. takes another pass at condemning "extremist groups". When Jeff F**king Sessions makes a stronger statement condemning white supremacists than the President of the United States, you KNOW things must change. Of course, I think the DOJ's investigation, which will be led by Foghorn Leghorn, will be a farce, with the victims branded the REAL terrorists and James Alex Fields, Jr. given a full pardon. Nevertheless, Jefferson's words pack, for the moment, the stronger punch.

Don't get me wrong: I want to see all monuments dedicated to the Confederacy destroyed. I just don't understand the argument that preserving them instead would be like preserving history itself. First of all, history is more than slabs of concrete. Second, it isn't as if deconstructing the cursed things will somehow erase the legacy of slavery or Jim Crow segregation in this country, never to be thought of or mentioned again. Because, believe me, just as soon as we even THINK about forgetting about the history of race relations in America, someone is bound to show up with receipts.

Uh...sorrynotsorry? Look, Petey, you took your chances when you picked up your Pier One tiki torch and went a-marchin'. You didn't want to be portrayed as an angry racist? Then you shoulda stayed yer ass at home. Also, from the interview: "White nationalists aren’t all hateful; we just want to preserve what we have." And again, I scream, YOU HAVE NOTHING. What you have, you've appropriated from other cultures. Right down to those ridiculous tiki torches. (Seriously, did y'all think you were going to some kind of luau?)
