  1. All this over a dead fish. I never understand the idea that soaps need to have bloody brawls.

Why not? I like fight scenes with men over the catfights with women.

I don't have any idea what this is. Did Reilly get into early Final Fantasy at this time?

Was this interesting to watch? I haven't seen it.

That was at the end of the Melaswen story when they escaped the island. Most people hated the story, I liked some parts of it.

  2. I know there were rumors about him being fired abruptly.

Yeah there were rumors about Kristian Alfonso having problems with his gay porn past. Jeff himself denied that he was fired because of it and I believe him. Jude was not a long-term character.

Thanks for the answers about AS. I always forget Anne Howard Bailey was at DAYS - I guess it must not have been too long, as she was at Santa Barbara up to mid-1988. I know the Marina story is hated.

I think she was only headwriter for about 10 months.

  3. JER also didn't like Victor much and that is why he was pushed out, again in less than a dignified fashion. I seem to remember rumours that John Aniston asked his daughter to beg NBC to get him back on the show.

Drake Hogestyn talked about that in an inteview a couple of years ago.

TVGuide.ca: James loved John and Marlena …

DH: But you know what? Dee and I were smart to never address him as actors but as characters. I remember when John Aniston yelled at him during the Emmy Awards complaining about how these snot-nosed kids were thwarting him after he outsmarted the CIA, etc.. Aniston was like, “Victor is smarter than that — something needs to change.” James’s response? “It will.” Well, literally the next day, a rewrite came in and Victor ended up in a coma after a heart attack! James was very passionate about the show. This is a testament to James’s power at NBC — the network was furious because John is Jennifer Aniston’s father, but all he said was, “You keep him happy. He’s off my show.” And as we know, James won that battle. But when James went to Passions, Victor miraculously came out of his coma. When it came to James, if he saw you out of character, you were done.

  4. Thaao started to play him more "Andre-like" when Tony arrived in Aremid. He also smoked which Tony never did. But from what I have read, Thaao didn't dislike the storyline. He called it a greek tragedy. But what Thaao didn't like or thought was hard was lying in a coffin in his last episodes because his mom and dad both died just a few days apart from each other. So playing dead in a coffin while mourning his parents must how been tough. But there was nothing personal with Relliy.

Then in 2002 he came back

"When they decided to put my character in a coffin, I thought to myself, "How can I beat this?" recalls Penghlis, who – without discussing it with the producers – wore clothes and displayed mannerisms in his final scenes that weren't quite Tony-like. "I also smoked a cigar, something Tony would never do," says Penghlis, "all to suggest it was really an imposter who died." Says new Days head writer Peter Brash: "Thaao very cleverly passed us a ball. We're running with it."

Brash and Cwikly wrote that Tony fell into a coma and Andre was the one that arrived in Aremid.

Then in 2004 Tony was killed by the Salem Stalker and Thaao spoiled the story in some magazine. I think that was the moment that Thaao got an enemy in Reilly. During the Melaswen storyline Tony smoked cigars several times and Tony talked about how he cheated death when he framed John for his murder, Reilly ignored B&C's version of the story that it was Andre in Aremid. After Melaswen, the Castle and Iraq, Tony was sent to prison.

In 2007 Thaao came back but Corday felt that the character of Tony had been written into a corner and could never interact with the other characters in a normal way, so it would be just another round of him kidnapping or holding people hostage. Corday told Sheffer about Andre and that's how we got the big rewrite that Tony was put on an island in 1985 and everything since had been Andre. It created so many plotholes for the storyline in 1993-1995 and 2002-2003. If they wanted the psycho in 2004-2005 to have been Andre it would have been fine. He could have taken Tony's place in summer 2003 when Tony was in a coma but mysteriously disappeared when Bo and Hope were attacked as the fashion show.

AntonyDimera has uploaded something called "The Tony DiMera Project 1993-1995". I highly recommend it. He describe it as: The beginning of Tony's Godfather-esque fall to darkness.

Or... the beginning of a reformed Andre's return to villainy. However you wanna look at it".

Shortly after the reveal in 2007 Andre was killed off. Tony spent most of the time on the backburner before he was also killed off, in 2009. Corday told Thaao the death didn't have to be permanent and there was always a chance to come back. So far it hasn't happened. On Twitter, Thaao sometime sound like he wants to come back, and other times he sounds happy and has moved on. I personally would love to have him back. I want them to fix all the mistakes of the past when it comes to Tony and Andre but most people seems confused as it is already so maybe that would be too much for them.

  5. The sets look so great compared to soaps now.

That's one of my biggest problems these days. Even if the storylines were good I can't enjoy them as much as I did in the past because of the cheap production they have now. There are so few sets and they all look like crap.

I'd forgotten what a bad actor Colin was.

I liked him as the sleazy bad guy, and his murder was the last good "whodunit" on DAYS.

  6. I am not trying to attacks republicans, but honestly who the [!@#$%^&*] is running on their side that anyone can logically vote for? They all seem so vile and hateful. I say this as someone who honestly is in the middle on a lot of issues and could vote either way. There just appears to be no option, for me anyways. So i am genuinely curious.

Ron Paul. The others are just puppets that will continue with their illegal imperialist wars.

  7. Yes, I love the Phoenix cue. I remember watching a clip from the Stockholm storyline when Marlena was kidnapped by Orpheus and I could swear I heard the Phoenix cue. Toups, do you know if the cue was Marty's or DBN's? I want to know when Marty's music stopped playing on the show and when DBN's music started, I know it was around 1993 but not sure exactly when. And what about Corday? From what I've read he's been working with the shows music sine the last 70s which means he also worked with Marty. I have always wanted to know what music is Corday's, does he have a different style than Marty and DBN?

What I hate the most about the DAYS music is that they have all these great cues but they never use them. They just keep making new ones.

DBN said this in an interview last year:

We tend to write story-specific cues rather than character-specific. So as the same characters go through different situations the music behind them is changing and evolving. We try not to use the same music over and over in a recurring situation. For example, we have over 25 cues for the “Nighttime Hope” story. This way we can vary to some degree the dramatic impact in scenes that emotionally we could be using the same 2-3 cues for.

I just don't get that. I want to hear familiar music. When Stefano walks into a scene I want to hear the Phoenix music.

  8. Thanks for this!!

I just listened to all of the cues. "Weaving a web" drives me CRAZY when it's ever (all the time) used on DAYS. Also "Stefano's Theme", I don't think that's really Stefano's is it? They use that cue all the time in different situations. I don't like that one either.

I love "Together" and "A Good Day" blush.gif Those ones are beautiful. "Heist" is interesting to.

    "Nighttime Hope's Theme" ph34r.gifph34r.gif

Yeah I'm not really sure why it's called Stefano's theme. It played alot during the whole Sydnapping storyline last year, it still plays from time to time but I would say it's more EJ's theme than Stefano's.

Eww to Heist, it reminds me of Stan, LOL.

"Nighttime Hope's Theme" really is awful.

  9. The Stan thing was ridiculous, but it was also very clever. It kept Sami in story, and Dan Wells did a (shockingly) terrific job of mimicking her mannerisms and convincing you that he was really Sami in drag.

It wasn't super well-received, though I think part of that was the fact that they wrote a horrible story for Sami during that time. S/he was running around "getting revenge" on... Mimi and Tek and all these random people. Meanwhile, Kate -- the actual object of her ire -- barely got touched, and then Stan/Sami wound up being a part of this horrible rescue mission to "the war in the Middle East" in which Shawn, Lucas, Brady, and Rex went to save Phillip from "the terrorists," who turned out to be Tony DiMera & Co.

Yes, it was as stupid as it sounds.

They barely touched the really fun aspect of the story, which would have been Lucas (who had just dumped Sami and thought she was out of town) being drawn to Stan and having all these confused feelings over it.

It was so stupid. And after Sami was revealed as Stan she was afraid of being charged with treason. But then Austin, of all people, figured out that she couldn't be charged with treason because Tony DiMera and his mercenaries were never officially declared enemies of the United States. So Sami walked free.

  10. I'm just stunned they actually did this. I guess enough people requested a collection of themes or scores or they at least saw enough interest from hardcore fans to do it(given that DAYS just recently did one through LaLaLand Records). I hope they do another one with some of their other cues, their more dramatic/suspenseful stuff.

That's what I'm hoping for. Those are my favorite cues from B&B.
