When will her album be released?

That's true, I think EastEnders only briefly outrated Corrie in yearly ratings for a short time in the 90's. Corrie has always been higher rated than EastEnders in yearly ratings.
It's funny to note that when Corrie is bad shape, it doesn't seem to get the ratings drop that EastEnders gets when it's in a similar condition.
I think that that's because, among other things, Corrie is a warmer soap. EE is like a really gloomy, depressing soap on steroids full of violence and abnormal behaviour, famous for creating brilliant characters and getting rid of them in a blink of an eye. It just has no continuity of good stuff. That is, pretty much every Britsh soap has ups and downs, but EE's ups and downs are much more visible and noticeable. When it's bad, it's awful, when it's good, it's really good. But only for a short while.

And my comment was, said differently, "Corrie is doing well? I'm surprised." EE had 8.38 million viewers, CS 9.45. Newest data.

Really. EastEnders gets a lot of criticism when it goes off the rails because it used to be (don't know if it still is) the #1 rated SHOW (nevermind soap).
It never was. Corrie was always no. 1 in the UK ratings. EE was able to beat it a few times during climaxes etc. But it was pretty much a no. 2.

Coronation Street seems to get mucho love in the British press.

It's like a steam train heading in the wrong direction.
EE is not in the same place it was this time last year. For some reason, Santa has been undoing all of the good work he put in place. This summer was extremely plot-driven, and heavily focused on certain characters. There has been an air of predictability and a sense of laziness with the execution of some stories.
Overall, it's not good, but it's not bad, either. Just mediocre. And Eastenders can be so much more than mediocre.
Thank you so much, Ben, for the wonderful post!
So which British soap is doing well story-wise? Don't mention Hollyoaks.

So... How's this show doing?

This show has really experienced a 180 degrees change — from the most demented soap on TV to a must watch.

What happened to the villainous Clare Cunningham?

This show was supposed to be a huge break out hit in 1995. This was around the time that Melrose Place was already big and with that buzz, CPW was must see tv. So popular that Mariel Hemmingway hosted SNL and did a skit about CPW with Will Farrell.
Then why was it cancelled?

Well, I'm gonna post some clips, and a synopsis will follow... if it's needed.
I'll say this, the transition from the awesome Bevan Lee and into the new writer, whose name escapes me atm, has been pretty good. There is one predictable and boring story - Who's the Daddy - involving Jack/Martha/Roman, but a part from that it's been OK. It's not Bevan, but it's still good.
Well, a short synopsis outlining the current stories would be great. Just so that I know what to watch for.
And in the end - how did Bevan do this time? Any news on what's he up to now?

Sylph I thought you hated these kinds of prime time soaps--or is it only when Spelling is involved?
Why do you say that?

Apparently, no one is watching Home and Away...

Does anyone know if Bridget and Jerome had any children? And how many?
Those two are 70, BTW, if anyone wanted to know.
