I don’t know if it was just me, but today’s ending knocked me for a loop. I genuinely did not see that coming.

@Liberty City I won’t mention anything regarding the current spoiler (mostly because I don’t know how the spoiler tags work properly).
However (insert character here) was planned to leave the show before its cancellation in 2022 and their storyline was changed around. If I remember correctly it was going to be part of the end of year cliffhanger. So I wouldn’t be surprised if they do end up leaving now.
That said i’m thinking about things from 2 years ago so I could be way off mark, it could be best to completely ignore me.

Very surprised about Summer coming back, I can’t even remember the last time she or any of the Hoyland family were referenced on the show (well aside from Izzy I guess).
Also is it not a bit early for the Christmas stuff? Unless the show’s taking a break for a few weeks over the Christmas/New Year period in which case their end of year is happening pretty soon maybe?

Just a heads up for any Aussie viewers, due to the Melbourne Cup events this week Tuesday’s and Thursday’s episodes won’t be on 10 but instead on 10Peach at 6:30pm.

November 13th-16th confirmed as Flashback Week. It will be filling in the gaps of the 2 year timeskip.
Very minor episode descriptions in the link if you want to avoid spoilers. But no characters are mentioned at all.

I loved the little tribute to Lou in today’s episode. The love/hate relationship between him and “Jellybelly” was always a highlight to watch.
I can’t remember if they gave him a mention in the finale so this was nice to see.
Also I hope they’re not getting rid of the school. One of the best parts of the show was each time period having its own class of students. The Toadie/Billy/Anne/Lance/Hannah era of the late 90s, the Stingray/Dylan/Sky/Serena era from the early 2000s, Rachel/Declan/Donna/Zeke and occasionally Kyle when they needed a bully from the late 2000’s.
It wasn’t so great going through the 2010’s but I always thought it was an important part of the show.

Did anyone find Nell interacting with Paul weird at all?
Not because it was badly acted or anything, just the idea of Paul and Nell having conversations just seems odd given that for her entire life on the show Nell’s been a toddler that very rarely speaks.

Very fun episode to start the week. I’m completely on board with Evil Nell. I think it’s a great idea and a character direction I never saw the show going. I can’t wait to see how it progresses.
Also something I noticed was that Neighbours was trending on twitter here in Australia this afternoon. I normally don’t think much of twitter trends, but this doesn’t happen. None of the 4 episodes last week did decent ratings (Top 20 shows) in any category. So to see the show actually being talked about by an Aussie audience is so refreshing.

Enjoying the revival so far
Same here, really enjoying having it back. Maybe an unpopular opinion but, i’ve actually enjoyed it more last week than I have in the last decade (maybe more) of the show. There were some seriously rough years.
But they seem to have gone back to what made the show great, each family having their own unique stories going on which means it shouldn’t just be the same stuff going on every episode. (I hope that makes sense).

I wonder how longtime fans feel about the details we've been given as to the break-ups. I hadn't realized at first that Paul has been the on-off heavy for years. I also didn't realize Harold had been gone so long until coming back for the TV finale. The dementia/whatever storyline with him is a bit heavy-handed so far but I've seen plenty worse. I really like Wendy Rodwell's spunk.
Apparently Byron the bellboy is a recast.
This is all information you probably know, so please feel free to skip any of my ramblings. I’m just glad to see this show reaching a new audience on the otherside of the world.
From my point of view I think the break-up details are fine. Paul and Terese have married and broken up before, it’s not surprising it would happen again. I also wasn’t a fan of the Toadie/Mel relationship, both good characters but the relationship doesn’t work, so seeing them separate is again fine.Onto your comment about Paul, he’s the only character on the show to have been there since Episode 1. He did leave (go to jail) in the mid 90’s but after returning in the 04 finale everything essentially revolves around him. He’s a villain, he’s great and he’s only got one leg (long story).
You’re right about Harold returning for the finale last year. He’d been gone for a long time but he was very much the spirit of the show. It’s great having him back for the return but i’m not sure how I feel about the alzheimers/dementia storyline they seem to be doing.
Lastly, yes Byron is a recast, but previous Byron was on the show for at most 3 months at the end of its run. It’s not a major change. In fact Toads kids, Nell and Hugo are recasts as well.

So episode 2 wasn’t as exciting as the return was, but it did at least start to fill in some of the gaps between the finale and now. Particularly what happened between Paul/Terese and the rest of the family.
I can’t put it into words but, I still feel like i’m missing a giant chunk of story that my brain’s trying to fill in on its own. It’s no fault of the show that’s just what happens when you’ve been off air for a year and a half.
Apologies I didn’t see your post but for spoilers/info about new characters I think this might be what you’re looking for (though i’ve not used the site myself)

However for more of a bio on character histories for longer term characters I find this to be really useful (even if it’s not fully up to date)

So the first episode of the return just finished airing in Australia, did anyone watch it? What did you think?
Without spoiling, I enjoyed it. I think they did a good job setting up a few future storylines for the rest of the year and obviously the major one that kicks the show off.
I do wish there was a better introduction to the new characters though, even just saying their names more often. I know i’ll learn them eventually but if I had one minor complaint that would be it.

Harold Bishop's 1996 return to Neighbours.
Piggybacking off this. Paul Robinson returning in the final scene of the 2004 (or was it 03) finale. It led to a lot of really big things in the next few years.

For me it was B&B and the Brooke/Deacon affair storyline. My mum & grandparents would watch all the various shows everyday but I never really paid attention. I picked up a few characters but never committed to the shows (I was a dedicated Neighbours fan though) I learned a few names from the different shows, but nothing more than that.
However when I started high school my grandfather would pick me up and take me home. It was during that time he’d put on B&B and I was hooked. I saw one episode, but then I needed to see what happened tomorrow and the day after that. I became obsessed.
I eventually stopped watching around 2015 (when Steffy killed Ally) but have recently picked it up thanks to the Youtube uploads and am now watching 2017.

@ChickenNuggetz92 Thank you for all of your continued hard work in keeping these vaults up and running. I know I and so many other people here really appreciate what you do.

@janea4old Thank you so much for your extremely detailed write-ups. They were an incredible help, you explained everything amazingly.
Steffy being married to Sheila’s son is not something I expected, but I dig it.
Edit: Please do not apologise for the excessive detail. It was incredibly written and got me up to speed on everything going on.
Thank you for going to such an amazing effort to get this random guy across the world up to speed.

So from the point of view of someone that hasn’t seen the show in 6-7 years here are some thoughts.
-New Thomas is shady. I have no clue why the Spencer’s hate him (aside from Liam mentioning a dead baby), but his goatee makes him look like he’s up to something.
-I like new Hope. I didn’t think she’d have two kids including what looked like a 9 year old, but that was a fun surprise.
-Is Zende the same Zende that was around as an intern years ago or a different actor? He looks different but it could just be me
-Given Liam and Hope are married I have to assume Steffy is with Wyatt?
These are just random thoughts i’m throwing onto the internet. I went into the episode blind without looking anything up. The show was easy to follow and get into the groove of, I might have to keep up.

Thanks @dragonflies that’s good to hear.

I hope i’m asking this in the right place (if not please ignore/delete) but i’m curious, is B&B easy enough to jump back into?
I watched constantly from 02-15, then I kind of dropped off. Catching up on youtube helps, but if I started again tomorrow would I be familiar with the characters, would I be able to follow the current storylines easily enough or has the show undergone a massive overhaul that might throw me off?

Without spoiling anything for those that haven’t seen it, that finale was beautiful. My words can’t do it justice. It was everything it should’ve been and more.
While i’m sad the show has ended, I finished watching with a huge smile on my face and a head full of great memories. I can’t say any more, it was just beautifully done.

Apparently it's going to be a month long celebration
That’s great to hear. If it has to end, this is the best way to do it.

Last day of filming today, it’s really the end of an era.
My only hope now is that the “finale” is more of a week long celebration rather than a let’s try to cram everything into the final episode. Let the returnees have a chance to breathe rather than a small 2 minute segment.

I’ve just recently discovered this forum and the huge treasures within.
Thank you for all the hard work that’s gone into putting it together.

They must’ve seen the story of Dr. Karl: Poo Jogger and thought it was Emmy-worthy.
Seriously though, i’m absolutely thrilled for Neighbours. Ever since they returned they’ve put on some of their best stuff since at least 2010.
