Well I'm a Cruz and Eden fan, but even I found their storylines in 88 and 89 unwatchable, until Robert came. And I hated all the sentimental stuff. For me actually the decline in their storylines started as soon as Elena died in 1987. It was sort of this gradual slide down into crap lol. I did also like Robert and Eden quite a lot and wish they had taken that pairing further. Yeah that was why I skipped it, I don't usually watch stuff like that, it has an impact on me. But I may try again when I get to that point.

It's still pretty bad. 88 and 89- I didn't mind the story with Pamela. I didn't mind the initial story with Mason going to the convent and then Julia. Bits and pieces of Gina and Bunny I didn't mind. But hated everything else until Robert Barr came at the fall of 1989. (Neutral on the rape storyline, never watched it).

Ah cremated! OK. It was really hard for me to take this story in lol. I admit it. Still I was appalled no one cared about who that kid was. Cruz was really a terrible cop lol. If he couldn't act out a crime like a play he couldn't figure out whodunit.

They find her in May I think, so not 9.months. So I actually did recently watch this- I personally found it an awful story and it made zero sense. Like zero. First of all - they apparently find a deceased baby, assume it's Adriana and bury it? Like with no tests? Just welp that must be our kid! And then they find out Adriana is alive but no one is like hey- who did we bury? And then Sandra is just gross and awful. And then somehow it was Zach who kidnapped her, then Kirk, then she ends up with Cruz's brother? Like if I tried really hard, and maybe had written down the convoluted plot points, maybe I could have followed it but I thought it was all terrible. Then Kirk pretending he is Japanese or Buddhist or something I can't remember the details now. I watched the scene with Kirk and all I could think was maybe I should have tried watching it really high.

Just search YT. I don't get why this is difficult? If you search santa barbara soap and the ep number you want some will come up. There is a guy from Russia or somewhere in Eastern Europe I think who has posted some around 800s I dunno what else he has.

It's not a storyline I liked. I couldn't get past Christy lying about Ted doing it. I also for some reason found Ted's interactions with her off putting - like before the rape- but I can't remember what about it specifically. Same when he started out with Hayley.

Agreed I think 1989 got a lot better once Robert Barr was there, and I liked CG's portrayal of Kelly. I thought the kidnapping storyline was awful and never want to see it again lol. It made no sense- at least not to me. But I'm also not generally into baby storylines of any kind. Lol re FB. Yes that is usually a mistake.

Wow. If I had to choose I would always say 1984-1987 were vastly superior to 1988. 1989 by the end was slightly improved to 88. But I'm used to having unpopular opinions lol. ETA I put zero stock in awards.

Yeah would love to hear scoop! People on FB are trying to convince me that 1988 and 1989 SB was the best and 'on fire'. I feel like I'm losing my mind. Most people don't like those years do they? I feel like I need a reality check.

I agree with the comments about SB dropping stuff, but Sandra was awful. And that stuff with her getting off while C/E were having sex was so gross. I ff-ed through most of her scenes. I thought she was a terrible character. Maybe one of the worst.

Just start watching. There are some early eps around. I started watching what I could find- a few from the 50s then it jumps to late 70s, the ones I could find. Now I'm on 1990. There was a period in the mid 80s I didn't like, can't remember exactly. But late 70s to early mid 80s was good. Then like I said a few years kind of sucked. Then around 89/90 it started getting good again. I have watched some from the 2000s and won't go past 2002 ish.

I never watched GL when it aired but I've been watching it online. I'm on 1990. I guess Inhave some unpopular opinions. I kept reading people talk about how good the Roger/Mindy/Alex triangle is but honestly Roger just seems like slime to me and watching Mindy with him just makes my skin crawl. Like I ff the scenes. And yes she's unhappy but she should know enough to known he's scum. I also just find him super boring- it's boring watching Roger the super villain get away with everything again and again. Like I'm at the part when he fighting with the Lewis's and the stuff with the towers etc. On top of the stuff with Henry and on and on. I like Phillip although poor guy- he's the only sane one bw Alex and Alan Michael. He should just say [!@#$%^&*] it. It's a shame Holly came back and they don't seem to give her any good stories.

I haven't seen the scenes where she leaves yet but I do think she got tired of the hate mail. I think I read that in an article. I've been taking a break from my rewatch and I think I'm going through withdrawal lol. Will start again in a few weeks, although I was at the beginning of 1988 which isn't the best period. But I've never seen it.

Lane and Marcy had great chemistry and in their scenes I always got the feeling they enjoyed working together. I didn't really ship them but I always wished they had more scenes together.

Yeah I ff all that. Don't think I've ever made it through in its entirety. I've been watching eps when CG is on the screen. When I started watching SB it was around 1990, so the only Kelly I knew was CG. I've always liked her Kelly but man having seen the whole show the last few years, it was really like a totally new character compared to Robin Wright. Just the conflict and jealousy with Eden was never there before. Also been watching A's interview on the Locher Room. Man he just seems like a wonderful person. I'm very grateful he and MW seem like decent people. So often now it seems like celebs are jerks lol.

Thanks, that's really interesting context. I didn't really know when it aired or what was going on at the time. It maybe helps to explain why it got so popular.

Actually- she is apparently starting again. I must say I would've found a different platform after they were deleted the second time, seems like an exercise in futility. Lex S that is interesting, thanks for sharing. I'm very appreciative of the Russian fans - I have some eps I got from someone and the amount of work they put into it was amazing . Interesting how popular it is in Russia. I think there was even an art installation in a museum or something a few years ago. Can't remember the details.

Hi all I'm new here. Question about 1988. I've never seen it. I've been watching just at the very start and Cruz and Eden are in Hawaii and he gets sick bc of some cursed rock and is also asked to do an assignment for his old spy agency. Where does this story go? Bc it seems dumb and I don't know how much to ff lol. Does it connect to the storyline with Cain and Andrea and this Harry guy? Or I vaguely read about a storyline where some amulet or something curses Cruz....not sure. I've read some summaries online but I'm not 100% sure. I'm starting 1988 with queasiness lol. The writing seems so poor already by the tail end of 1987.
