  1. Now, see, here I have a very different view. I cannot abide Vile-Ette from GH. Also not at all keen on Charlotte. But, Rachel, on DAYS, I adore. She's like the model for kids that misbehave - and are entitled to! Contessa, I guess we'll agree to disagree. When Rachel is onscreen, what I feel is annoyance and irritation. But I totally respect that you disagree with me on this, as well as your right to express your opinion. 🙂
  2. Me, too. I'm with you on this as well. And you said things much better than I could have, especially your second sentence. Rachel makes Violet look like Laura Ingalls (ie, the classic TV show version).
  3. Being about three quarters through today's episode (August 7), I'm really concerned that if Hattie's dress touches Leo's, the two will explode.☹️ (Where did in the world did they find them?) An at least temporary reprieve: I'm now at the part where Hattie and Leo did run into each other, but Leo changed into a slightly less radioactive outfit.
  4. Many thanks for the additional GH history. Probably the earliest I would have seen Ingo was 2013, and from then--through his several exits and returns--until he was let go in 2021, I think I heard brief snippets of an Australian maybe twice. I think we all hear accents a little differently, so I'm not surprised. As for the accents of all the current and past "Brooklynites" on GH, go fig-yah.😀
  5. You're right about Dante--he should at least drop a few r's every once in a while. Per my earlier paragraph, I'll try overlooking that he doesn't do that. Re Brook Lynn, she came on before I started watching GH, but apparently she spent a lot of her teen years in Port Charles, so she could have lost her accent then. Also, Brook Lynn, of course, was an aspiring singer before Nelle slashed her throat, so perhaps, like you suggested for Gio, she did some work on her accent. And then there's the long-gone Jax, who (I assume) lost his Australian accent when IR did, and Mac Scorpio, whose portrayer, JJY, apparently (from what I've read) tried an Australian accent when he started on GH but wasn't able to get it. It's funny that Jax without an Australian accent always bothered me, but Mac never did, possibly because I really like both JJY and Mac. Yes, I guess I'll try overlooking a few more of the accents on GH. (A bit off-topic, but Olivia sounds most like my Brooklyn relatives. Lois is seems a bit more heavy-handed with the accent, but I'll concede that may be a reflection of what I'm used to.)
  6. I totally get it and I am not really disagreeing, but is it possible Gio tried to lose his accent? He went to Julliard and maybe he tried to tone it down a bit? I am not saying Gio screams born/raised in Brooklyn or anything, but I thought maybe his classically trained artistic background and schooling might make a difference. Carolineg, many thanks for your thoughts. It's absolutely possible Gio deliberately tried to lose his accent. In cases like that, I'm not sure whether it's better that one of the characters makes some mention of that or that the show totally ignores it. On Days, Sloan had an American accent and her brother had a British one. As I recall, at some point someone said the brother spent a significant part of his early life in the UK. That particular "explanation" seemed a bit forced to me. Since I'm always going to notice a Brooklyn accent, or the absence of one when it might be expected, I guess I should view this as similar to a scene taking place on a cheesy set, a minor plot hole (a major one would be a different story, of course), an actor's subpar performance on a given day, etc, all of which I can usually overlook. [Please also see my additional comments three posts below.]
  7. As someone with a lot of relatives from Brooklyn, Gio's lack of a Brooklyn accent is glaring to me. (Just getting this off my chest. Not worth doing anything more.)
  8. Yes, the surprise aspect of Kristina's fall was excellent, but... Well, let's just be glad this isn't Days. If it was, I wouldn't be surprised if the scene would "culminate" with Krissie giving birth and Leo then congratulating her on having a water birth. Absolutely. Actually, that will be a set up for Kristina being in a lengthy coma and not being able to sign away her parental rights. I can't wait for all that drama...not.
  9. I had the same question. Plus it's a missed opportunity. I'd be OK with them ultimately making up or ultimately being at odds, but their journey to either of those points could have been interesting.
  10. Yes...that's why, in a nutshell, I like Jane Elliot as Tracy so much. 😀
  11. Not to worry. Hollis is fine. The dear departed is actually his look-alike, Saccharine.
  12. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 And what makes this storyline especially exciting is that today Sheila gave us the definitive word on Deacon's pizza shack. It's a "classy place."
  13. Seems that it could be something along those lines, but somehow I'm not very anxious to find out.
  14. Tom somehow heard about this and has decided to work on Il Giardino's beverage list. He's planning to suggest they serve something called Tranya. For more information, go to YouTube and search for "The Real Balok." Tranya gets mentioned about one minute in. (Balok: "We must drink. This is Tranya. I hope you relish it as much as I.") Also check out the comments section (#6 to #12 down if I'm counting correctly).
  15. Hextangle. Not bad. I'll have to remember that one.
  16. Be careful what you wish for... 😁
  17. So in a way, the term "soap opera" eventually went full circle. Just in case this is unfamiliar to someone reading this, the "soap" part of the term was originally coined because early U.S. soaps, especially those on the radio, were often sponsored by the makers of cleaning products for the home (https://www.soapcentral.com/soapcentral/news/2005/0509-historyofsoaps_01.php and more other sources than I care to count). And now I find out (many thanks, DRW50!) that there was a soap opera parody to advertise laundry detergent in the UK. (For UK viewers' sake, hopefully it wasn't aired during actual soaps.😟)
  18. Running late but will try to re-access either tonight or tomorrow morning. Hope you and the other forum members in the U.S. (and any other place that might celebrate it today) all enjoy your Thanksgiving! Unfortunately, I haven't had too much success with those credits--the show cuts out after the first three screens. Why doesn't technology do what you want it to? ☹️

  20. You're welcome, Donna, and I'll gladly accept a break from EOB1 also. But that's really a shame most of the credits were skipped by the time you saw the episode. Tomorrow morning I'll see if I can re-access them and let you know. And that sounds cool what The Doctors did with their credits. Are you familiar with the UK/Australian show Bergerac (a crime show starring John Nettles, from the 1980s; now available to U.S. viewers on Britbox)? Although, as I noted earlier, I pay attention only to certain credits and then for certain reasons, I pay attention to the Bergerac acting credits for the credits themselves--each major actor/role is listed separately over a photo of the person in the episode and actors with lesser but still decent parts are listed two to a screen. When an actor isn't so well known, it's great as you have a face to match to the name when you've just seen the episode. As for The Doctors, there were periods that I watched it, but my major "watches" when there were more soaps were All My Children and Dark Shadows (but missing most episodes of all of them once I had a 9-to-5 job). I especially miss seeing fresh episodes of AMC. Oh well...
  21. ...Just nothing about Constantin & Theresa snatching Victoria did it for me. Totally dissatisfied, that after being so high on Ari & Dan's performances Wednesday! I really dislike the show being so good some of the time & so awful the rest! Credits update: Yesterday's had no EOB as Gwen (but did have her as Theresa). So maybe no more Gwen, at least for the time being?
  22. j swift, Donna L. Bridges, and AbcNbc247, many thanks for the welcome. Hope you're all having a nice weekend! Donna, I haven't always watched credits, but with all the cast changes on Days, I've been watching theirs for the last few months. (And I'm glad they're full size, normal speed. I like knowing that if I do want to see the credits, they're optimally presented.) So (as I implied in my other post), Gwen's return wasn't a surprise. But I didn't expect both EOB characters to appear in the same episode--for me, it didn't do any favors for EOB as Theresa.
  23. FYI, the last few cast credits have had both Gwen and Theresa listed for EOB (however, on separate screens). (I usually just lurk here, but I thought this might be helpful. Anyway, nice to "meet" everyone.)
