Adam has eaten the show - that's what I saw anyway, but they can keep going with him if they want.  I won't come back now.  They had him on way too much and honestly I don't see all the charm everyone else is seeing in the actor.  I just don't see it.  I felt like when watching him he was a close talker and always up in everyone's face.  But anyway, I have no desire to see Adam so there's no reason to watch Y&R if you don't like the character.  I flipped from the US Open yesterday and saw something about Chloe and Kevin having drugged and kidnapped Billy?  I was like - no desire to see that...back the to US Open.  It just made no sense to me but that is the only minute in several weeks that I have seen so maybe it makes sense to people who have been watching.

    Your entitled to your opinion

The Adam issue aside (and it is real, talented actor or not), there is absolutely no reason for Chelsea, Chloe or Kevin to be back full time. They contribute nothing.

    Her only purpose is adam

And with chick failing and sharon moving towards rey....i think we know what her character will be doing in a couple of months. Just hope griffith or new regime does more with chadam than pratt in those last 6 months of Hartley

I don't see them firing Mark, unless the next regime doesn't see Adam integral to their plans. I doubt it though, as Adam seems to be a character that every regime centers the show around (whether by choice or mandated by Sony/CBS).

True.josh cant hide his favoritsm though. Other regimes had there favs but they never reverted to bold and beautiful style of storytelling. I miss the ensamble

More power to you ANF - I think the show is the most boring it's ever been, and the ratings under Griffith are highly problematic. Given Y&R's record with firing writers when the ratings get this bad, I just don't see him lasting much longer and expect him to get fired (again) very soon.

Separately, I do like Mark Grossman, but I feel like they're running that poor man into the ground already.

Do you see them firing him? Or if he quits who will play adam

Griffith has had multiple chances at this show - the fact he's been fired twice already should have been enough for them to NOT want to hire him again. Ratings are in the gutter and the lowest they've ever been. It's only a matter of time before CBS/Sony hold him accountable for that (possibly Morina too)

Griffith doesn't want a Co-HW and hasn't functioned well with one since Malone at OLTL (and even that I found problematic). A Co-HW won't fix something when a bad apple that's failed MULTIPLE times already at the same show is allowed to linger on.

People will always complain, but Y&R hasn't sinked this low in the ratings in a long time. Something is not clicking here and the audience is not coming back. Something needs to be done pronto, and they have to start with ridding the show of Griffith, and Morina too if I can help it.

    I like him.

We're close to the end of the year now, I expect Griffith's next firing soon or by the start of 2020 the latest.

I dont think he should be fired IMO. Just give him a co writer becuse i dont think a new writer will do anything. People will complain and the cycle continues. CBS and Sony chose to hire Griffith a third time. Do somthing to improve him. Give him a co head writer or two. Tell Tony morina to give more input.

The time jump stuff sounds interesting. I could see how that could potentially upset some viewers. Like you might have a couple get married & then in the time jump they are divorced and one of them has had a baby with someone else. A rich character could end up broke...etc. I am interested in seeing how far they jump ahead and what they might do in the time jump.

maybe we can get new sets too.
its just gonna be weird to think oh days is not set in they year 2023 or some ish.

With balance, a new love interest and a little toning down on the anger, I think more fans of the show would be more supportive. It all depends on who joins or replaces Griffith at the top.

I know this may not be popular, but Sally worked wonders on Sharon and Victor.  I think she could definitely turn Adam into a "Likable" rogue.

If they need to keep Kevin--a hate screw with Adam could lead to miles of story😎  (Inches? LOL)

Sally hated the Adam character didn't she lol? Or was that just mal.
I do think Sally will get the HW job again. Her hubby being EP helps.
But if she comes back i would worry about Victorias airtime. lol i remember sally have her 4 days a week of screentime.

Does anyone honestly need Chelsea on every day? The best move they made was having her turn on everyone and sneak out of town.   I know Dicholas isn't  the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but even he shouldn't have just taken her con artist ass back into his home and bed this fast.   Griffith needs a co head writer.  Also, Kevin and Chloe aren't needed. Once this garbage with Wrigley's Will has run it's course, send them back to the land of Grunge and Grey's Anatomy.

i think we can do alot worse than griffith. I dont think hes bad. Just a bit boring. Like sussman  remember the victoria show.

Just bouncing off of some of you right now ... I'd agree on all of them. Rick Hearst played a great 30-something Alan-Michael. Carl Evans did fantastic as a younger Alan-Michael.

I also liked both Simms and Tesreau (my viewing is limited to YouTube, of course)

And Mark Grossman was perfectly cast as Adam. It's just too bad Muhney's Adam left such a stain. It's hard to get past the awful writing Adam had during that time. And now Griffith wants it to be 2013 again. Anyway ...

And definitely Jess Walton. Brenda and Jess are both great in the role and it's hard to see either playing it how the other plays it, sort of similar to Rick Hearst/Carl Evans to me in that one fit when they were on the show, and one fit in better later. JMO.

I think it says a lot when two actors can be fairly well accepted as a recast and maybe in some cases even better.

Deanna Wright as Kay on Passions comes to mind. I LOVED Taylor Anne Mountz's version. Perfection. But Deanna Wright was even better perfection. I don't stan often but I stanned both of their versions hard. (we don't need to get into the writing ...)

We've had a lot of duds ... so it's nice we're pointing out the good ones! Everytime Passions or Days recast under JER it'd get worse ... except for Liza Huber/Natalie Zea and Taylor Anne Mountz/Deanna Wright (I guess they also did a good job with Jade Harlow/Mary Winstead; Danica Stewart's version was trash). I love both versions. I loathed Divins as Chad and I wasn't a Martsolf fan at the time, I much preferred Travis Schuldt. But man, Martsolf has come a very long way.

    agreed.
and im probably in the minority but i am enjoying pretty much everything YR lol. 2013 is fine for me i just like having all the characters i like back. Hope if a new writer comes along they don't decide to fire grossman and everyone involved with him.

    Gina's the next Diana/Kristen ...

Sarah SHOULD be 47. She's more like 27 (Linsey looks good, IMHO). I'd have much rather Linsey be Stephanie. Sigh. Why did they FINALLY bring Sarah on then give her [!@#$%^&*] and now a baby story. No thanks.

JER had Marlena pregnant in what, 2005? Tabitha on Passions was thousands of years old ... age is irrelevant on a soap ;) and many women in their 40s and 50s+ can get pregnant ... just saying ... lol

    Carly on GH lmao

Man, Susan Flannery (and this writing) is MISSED.

It really baffles me that soaps can't be more creative with the storytelling. They just recycle plot points instead of digging deeper. A man and a woman married for 20 years get divorced after he leaves her for a younger woman. Stephanie is in denial and believes he's just having a midlife crisis and he will eventually come back to her. It sounds simple enough but Stephanie's POV was written very well and more compelling than anything I have seen on B&B in ages.

I seesaw back and forth between feeling really sad about what has happened to soaps, just thinking they're better off being cancelled and having a small glimmer of hope that at least one writer on one show will get it or possibly turn their show around.

i heard many writers say most don't want the HW job because of how hard it is. Its sad. i think we are stuck with the recycled people until cancellation

Jess Walton as Jill Abbott is my personal favorite. She came in as a hugely popular frontburner character played by two well received actresses (Brenda Dickson and Deborah Adair). I feel she helped the character grow and added tons of depth to the point that you didn't miss her predecessors and made it seem like she'd been there from day one. Brenda Epperson was also fantastic as Ashley Abbott and is my personal favorite in the role. In general Y&R is very good at recasts.

yeah agreed!. I like the current castings on YR rn. The stories are a bit bland tho
