Yes. But yes, AW, etc. fans were furious.

So sad the blood ended up on Passions hands. Before the show launched Jim Reilly did an interview saying NBC told him early on that the network wanted 4 soaps. NBC’s foolish decision to cancel AW could have been a potential audience that may have otherwise tuned in.

  2. I recently came across this video from Access Hollywood on Passions before it premiered in 1999. I’m sure it must’ve been exciting back then to be able to catch a soap from the very beginning... if you weren’t a disgruntled Another World fan of course. From those that remember, was there a lot of buzz surrounding Passions back then leading to the launch? From this video the supernatural elements seem to be hidden as well as in other early promos I’ve seen.

Picture was taken at the reunion the cast had last year at the Hollywood & Highland Center. Has anyone heard anymore news regarding the Castleton series?

Which character was the most wasted (i.e. had the most potential that was never realized).  On a show that never really wrote a character to their fullest potential, that's a tough one to answer.

I would love to see Jim Reilly’s bible for this show and see how much things changed. Rewatching the early episodes it seems as though they’re setting up a Frank and Whitney romance but then he disappears and Chad hits the scene.

Reading this early preview of Passions makes Theresa sound like a vixen.

Also, interesting to note Jason Olive’s role of Frank seems like it was meant to be bigger. It lists his character name as Frank Petito which ends up being Frank Lomax.

  6. Has anyone heard about a new Passions spinoff in the works called Castleton? That's the same town Charity and Faith lived in before the fire.

i was told it was brought up during the Passions Reunion and social media. Anyone know anything about this?

  7. I'm surprised the soap blogs aren't covering the reunion. Here are some write ups I found...

    Soap Opera Digest: http://www.soapoperadigest.com/photos/passions-fan-festival/

    LA Weekly: http://www.laweekly.com/arts/fans-celebrate-passions-the-weirdest-soap-opera-in-the-history-of-daytime-tv-8459016

Lena Cardwell (original Simone) has finally come out of hiding! She looks good.

Brook Kerr literally never ages. Donn Swaby on the other hand lol

Would a change in head writer have helped the show?

I aways thought that had the show continued that Ron Carlivati would have been a good fit for Passions after Reilly's passing. I honestly can't see anyone else doing it.

  9. They have a good amount of the cast participating in the Passions Fan Fest reunion next month...

    Andrea Evans

    McKenzie Westmore

    Galen Gering

    Eric Martsolf

    Lindsay Hartley

    Travis Schuldt

    Donn Swaby

    Chrystee Pharris

    Rodney Van Johnson

    James Hyde

    Kim Ulrich

    Dana Sparks

    Jade Harlow

    Taylor Anne Ramsey

    Juliet Mills

    Marianne Muelerlile

    Kathleen Noone

Wish other soaps would do this. Here's an ad they posted too from when Passions first started...

This video gave me goosebumps, I've never seen it before! I agree with the poster that mentioned all the supernatural elements were hidden, I wonder if that was intentional?

Has anyone heard about the Passions Fan Fest in LA this summer? How I wish I could go to see the reunion. Have you heard about this @Toups?

I haven't posted on this thread yet and hope I'm welcome. I have watched Empire too and also almost caught up as life has gotten in the way of me finishing the 3rd season but it is all on in demand which I am lucky and the fact I DVR'd as well...I love love this show.

Same here, new to the board. I know the excitement for the show has died down since season 1 but I'm still hooked.

Dallas was simple considering it was one family that wasn't that big and they still couldn't get it right. With the large and complicated family tree Dynasty has, it wouldn't have worked. Certainly not on the CW. The only way that could've worked is if you choose to only focus on say Fallon (as played by Emma Samms who looks wise would fit on the CW) and her children. But then people would complain about the older cast members not being on or not being in large roles.

I echo this. I'll give it a shot only because I'll be watching Riverdale and this follows. Hope the actual show exceeds our expectations.
