She played Betsy Crawford from 1973-1977. The clips posted from the show's last year on the air have the character of Betsy, but she's played by Margo McKenna there.

There is an episode from July 1975 on YouTube that heavily features her in the first half, alongside Christopher Reeve. I think the clearest version of the episode on YT is mislabeled as 1976 (but that might be the correct year - idk).

Thank you very much! I go see if I can find it

Thank you! I started watching whenever Randall Edwards was Delia until the end of the Soapnet airings and have seen very little after that. I've seen stuff here and there prior to that time but not the full thing. I'm definitely going to check it out. Thank you!

    You're welcome!

  3. Does anyone know if there any episodes which have Elizabeth Kemp online somewhere? I cannot remember her character name but her boyfriend was Christopher Reeve's character for a time. She is an acting teacher/friend of mine here in NYC and I would love to see her as a young woman on her first acting job! She was on in the 70s (early? Mid?) so it's doubtful, I know, but thought I'd ask.

Are you watching on YouTube? I wouldn't mind rewatching this series.

I am. Just do a search for "rh 762" and you'll get episode 762! I believe episodes 1-1240(ish) are up in full. I only started around 700 or so. I started watching it on Soapnet's final airing and then a year later found that it was on YouTube and started up again. I've found another account that has more episodes starting in the 1300s. I'm hoping by the time I get to 1240, someone will have the missing episodes posted. Happy viewing!

  5. Whoa Whoa Whoa!!!  This week I watched eps 1171-1175 and Ryan's Hope went all Dynasty Moldavian Massacre!!

That Friday ending cliffhanger was crazy.  Can't wait to see where it's going to go from here.

I wish Delia and Roger would just get back together.  The drunken Rae/Roger reading his love letter to Delia and Delia overhears and thinks they're in love made me crazy.  Roger and Dee belong together and splitting them up is going to (keep me watching) be incredibly frustrating.

Kimberly is now living with Senaca because she and her mother are fighting.  The fact that Senaca is in love with a 17 yr old is incredibly creepy.  I suppose this is going to end up being cause for Jillian to get a divorce from him further on down the storytelling line.  Still...it weakens Senaca's character for me.  Although, I get the feeling we were always supposed to look down upon Senaca.  For awhile there, when Frank was played by (Andrew Robinson?) I was much more into a Jill/Senaca pairing than Jill/Frank.  Of course, now that Frank is DHK, I want him paired with everybody, myself included.

Another sighting of Prince Albert this week!

Can't wait for Monday and the resolution to the Ryan's Bar Massacre!!

I know people who did NOT watch the show during Lemay's reign, and even they enjoyed the book to a degree, but if you WERE a regular viewer during the 1970s, I think you will find Lemay's autobiography quite fascinating.

He projects his own negative motivations onto actors he dislikes (and then castigates the performers for them), and his opinions of/reactions to the cast are clearly biased and hypocritical, but his prickly personality is part of what makes the book engrossing.

    Go for it.

I'm not surprised at this description.  I have not read the book; however, I was in one of his original plays here in NYC, and I can say with all authority, that Harding Lemay is an a$$.

I hated it. Yeah, it led to fabulous their reunion in Montana, but the story sucked.

Well, I also get the sense that Hogan Sheffer is hated on this board.  I watched ATWT about 7 months before he came on and, although I LOVED the actors, I thought the writing was atrocious.  Then Hogan came on board and everything just worked.  I remember everyone talking at the time how he was one of the greatest writers in soap opera history and how he had taken a floundering ATWT and made it work.  The actors were all nominated left, right and center (one year there were basically only AMC and ATWT actors nominated) for the stellar work they were doing during his tenure.  I'm so out of place here - LOL - I'm also posting about ATWT on the AW thread.

I'm actually currently re-watching the '87-'88 years of AW on YouTube and loving it all over again.  Jason Frame just showed up - can't wait to see Josie and Sharlene!!  (And to return to the Anna Stuart Donna years - Sampler was okay - actually the first Donna I saw as a child - but she doesn't hold up once you've seen Stuart's Donna.)

Hogan did do a great job with them until he killed Jake. After that Molly regressed and floundered.

It was actually Eplin's request that Jake be killed.  I watched both AW ('87-'95) and ATWT (2000-2010) and remember reading articles at the time that when Eplin decided to leave the show, he was finished with Jake and didn't want anyone else playing him and asked that the character be killed off.  So don't blame Scheffer for Eplin's decision!

Tell me about it. Carly regressed at that time too. The whole Mike/Molly/Jack/Carly quad was abysmal. I hated how Carly fought for Jack and won him only to screw up a few months later by bedding Mike.  That story pissed me off.

And of course like the scavenger she is, Katie scooped up Mike after no one else wanted him. Just like she did Simon after Lily rejected him. Katie was always that girl that loved someone else's leftovers.

She only bedded Mike because she was wasted.  It was a classic soap trope - a character gets drunk and beds someone that they will regret.  I thought it actually worked and I LOVED how it worked out.  The Jack/Carly wedding in Montana was one of the greatest storyline wrap-ups in soap opera history!!

  9. I had clearly quit watching Another World at that point (around '95--'96 I think was when I let it go) and had never seen that video either.  That is SUPER embarrassing.  Very 90's too.  Look at that ridiculous hair!

  10. Today's week of RH was Eps 1166-1170.  I've now seen the first episode with the gorilla in it!  I've heard rumblings of the gorilla story from various message boards over the years but don't really know what happens in the storyline. I just know that there's something with Delia and a gorilla and it is quite controversial.  I can't WAIT to experience it.

I love that Maeve is finally being more firm with Jack and verbally slapping him in the face.  Ryan's fever seemed to help break him out of his spell, and I'm glad, cuz as I've mentioned, I can't stand when Jack pulls away.  I love watching Jack and Johnny face off.  Johnny can be a real pain in the ass sometimes and needs to be taken down a notch. Jack is just the man to do it.

I know my opinion won't be popular, but (so far) I'm growing to enjoy Kimberly.  RH needs a character like her on the show now that Delia isn't the scheming manipulator that she once was.  I HATE Kimberly and want to punch her sometimes and I LOVE IT!!  This week she tried to manipulate Adam Cohen into bed just because Senaca is trying to pull away from her.  Adam spoke to Senaca who spoke to Rae who prepared to send Kim packing back to Omaha.

All in all, it was an enjoyable week on RH - the first of 1980! (Or 2017)  I'm enjoying where the storylines are going.  I'm glad that the mourning of Mary didn't last too long.  I'm interested to see how Delia does running a restaurant for Tiso.  I can't wait to see what crazy things Kim will do this coming week.  Bring it on!

  11. This week I watched eps 1160-1165 on my first time ever viewing of RH.  I'm thrilled that Delia's financial problems have been taken care of - loved watching Dan Fox squirm like crazy in that scene with Tiso!  I'm also glad the storyline is in the past - it was making me a little crazy (in a good way)

I'm not enjoying dealing with death around Christmas - whose bright idea was that?!  And I can't stand watching Jack revert to his old self - I hope he gets over that quickly.  The week ended with Frank and Jillian getting him out of the slammer for punching someone at a bar. I can't stand it when Jack acts like this.  Sometimes I wish Maeve would just smack him.

I'm also really enjoying Kimberly and her production of Lysistrata.  When I was a young, non-union actor, I was always the one who would demand payment when it wasn't being delivered and generally running around making sure producers knew that they couldn't treat the actors the way they were.  So I love watching her kick ass (even though a showcase production would never deliver the money to the cast until the final performance).  I'm really not into the Kim/Senaca attraction though.  That kiss was weird and totally wrong!

  12. This week was episodes 1151-1155.  A hard week to watch and just before Christmas!  The Mary storyline and Joe/Siobhan wedding kept Kimberly in the background at least.  The Delia/Roger/broker storyline is getting on my nerves a bit.  The only reason she started the affair was because she knew Roger was having an affair with Rae.  I wish she's just come clean so her broker (Dan?) could stop tormenting her.  Next week is Christmas and I guess we'll be having a wake. Not looking forward to that!

Also another one was Tom Desmond -- a few months before Mary.

I feel so bad. How could I forget Tom's death?!   I mean, I guess he had barely been on the show for months  - Faith, too.  And she's still hardly ever on. I guess with no Pat and no Faith, the writers don't know what to do with her?

So did I. The baby stuff was a bit tiring but I thought she was very interesting, and I think she would have been a good fit for Marland's ATWT.

I'm so excited to be watching Marland's tenure now. I've never seen it and know little about it. I held off on watching episodes on YouTube because I held out hope that someday I could see it in its entirety. I think what's up there now is the closest it will get so I decided to do it. Currently, Kim and Frannie are being held hostage in Colorado by Doug Cummings. One thing that shocked me was that they never changed that Farm set.  Even my husband (who was only ever a side watcher because I had the show on all the time) said "They didn't even change the stove!"  Speaking of....I need to watch "Today's" episode!

Maggie left town in summer or early fall 1985, with Frank and the baby she'd adopted. It still makes no sense to me how she was never mentioned again.

Thanks!  I'm glad to hear that she got a happy ending with Frank and the baby.  From the little I've seen of the character, I enjoyed her.

  15. I have a question.  Thanks to the user AsTheWorldStillTurns, I have been watching ATWT again. I originally watched 2000-2010 so I've seen nothing before that.  I have the 40th anniversary book so I started watching what exists on YouTube as far back as 1979 and reading the story in the book to fill in the gaps. I'm in February 1986 now where there is a fair amount of the series that's consecutive and am loving it.  My question is:  What happened to Maggie?  The book doesn't say anything about her leaving but it's clear that she is off the series at this point.  Am just curious to know the resolution (if there was one) for the character.

  16. This week in my original RH journey was eps 1146-1150

A lot about Kimberly deciding on whether or not to do nudity in the Off Off Broadway play.  I, personally, find this storyline interesting as I'm an actor myself (25 years and counting) and nudity is always an interesting and lively conversation to have. I'm intrigued to see how the storyline plays out.  Since it's Off Off (Off Off Off Off Off) Broadway, this director could turn out to be a total sleaze.  Anytime it's a case of only the women being naked - or, if the director is gay and only the men are naked - that is a MAJOR sign to me that it isn't for artistic purposes.   I can see how we're all supposed to be feeling empathy for Rae now.  It's a classic soap storyline. She's just done the most horrific thing she's ever done (framing Frank and Jill) and that storyline is completely sidelined by Kimberly and the trials she puts Rae through.  The writers have set up the fact that Jack is now working for Rae but they never mention it as he's mostly wrapped up in "should or shouldn't Siobhan marry Joe."  Rae's deeds will come back to her once they think the audience is sympathetic towards her (and probably in time for Feb sweeps.)

Speaking of Siobhan and Joe.....it's the day of the wedding and I am, unfortunately, spoiled to know Mary Ryan's fate. She discovered the drug smuggling scheme this week and is currently hiding in the warehouse.  It's incredibly difficult to watch. It may not be Kate Mulgrew, but it's still Mary.  Goulet has been on for a year now and I've gotten used to her.  After having Edmund's death earlier this year....really, RH....ANOTHER death.  And around Christmas?  Maybe I'm wrong, and it's not happening now but I'm assuming the actress' contract is up soon.  Guess I'll find out next week!

Just started the final season, and two episodes in it is already better than quite a few of the prior seasons.

Hello there!  I'm new to the board.  MAJOR Dynasty fan.  Watched Season 6-9 and The Colbys as they aired when I was in high school and have bought all of the DVDs are rewatched in my adulthood.  That final season of the show is one of my very favorites. It seems to be quite controversial on the board though!  Yes, the budget is clearly gone and Alexis and Krystle are missing for most of the season, but the storytelling gets back on point, and it has Stephanie Beacham.  Love it!!

Welcome. We'd love hearing your thoughts.

Thanks!  I'm sure you'll get an ear full.  Close to sleep now but the basics are that I love it.  Everything I heard about early Ryan's Hope being some of the best soaps on TV are completely true, imo.  Helen (who I've had the pleasure of spending the evening with several times here in NYC) is the acting powerhouse glue that holds the show together - even with the ever changing cast of her children.  Kate Mulgrew is, of course, the best Mary Ryan but the others all grew on me (to an extent) in time.  I never really enjoyed Frank until.....crap, I can't think of his name - Hardcastle and McCormick.  FRANK - as far as I'm concerned.  I miss the original Pat like crazy.  Rae Woodard is one of the best non-Ryan characters to grace the series (not sure about her new, out of nowhere, "hashish" brownie baking daughter, Kimberly).  I can't believe I'm going to say this but I think I have, ultimately, enjoyed Delia #2 better than Ilene.  And, although Catherine Hicks was a fave of mine, KMG (KGM?) has totally taken over the role of Faith in a way that I've enjoyed.  More thoughts to come.  I'm very opinionated. :)

This person has some of Soapnet's 1980 episodes up. They are slightly out of order -- they start with June of 1980 (#1278).

Thank you so much for posting this!  This is my first post here - I've been reading the board for a month or so.  I had to finally get an account to thank you.  I never watched Ryan's Hope but became a fan during its final run on SoapNet.  Of course, I just got far enough to get totally hooked and then SoapNet went off the air.  I've been watching videos from the user on YouTube who has everything posted up to the early 1200s.  I'm at 1145 so I knew I'd get to the end soon.  Thanks to your post, I'll have more to watch afterward - minus a month or two.  So excited.  (More excited than I should probably be.)
