  1. Marquess did a good job of establishing new families at past soaps, so here's hoping it will be the same here. This one stands out though. Too often we just see interracial couples on soaps or interracial children/characters with parents that aren't together. It seems like this is a fully developed interracial family, with a black matriarch and a white patriarch and children. This is a good start, but of course, a good story has to be there.
  2. Wow, wasn't expecting this at all. Should be interesting.
  3. The same thing that made Little Mo unbearable to watch during her ladder years is the same thing making Stacey unbearable now. The constant victimization, and the constant succession of havoc being reeked on their lives. Only with Stacey, she seems a lot less sympathetic and a lot more stupid. Lacey really keeps the character grounded though, if the role were played by a lesser actress, I can only imagine how much more unwatchable the character would be. LOL at Charlie trying to beat up Alfie. LOL! I just love Kat, "WHEN DID YOU PUT YOUR TONGUE IN HIS MOUTH?!?!?"
  4. Hard to imagine she went to fashion school dressed like THAT. LOL! So, I assume Kat and Alfie's return will be Kirkwood's first major storyline of his own. I hear we should be seeing them back by September. I really loved their exit during Christmas, when Alfie came back for Kat. So fitting for those characters and so heart warming. I really hope their return isn't a bust. Kat, when she's written for properly, has always been one of my favourite EastEnders characters. Remember when Stacey was supporting to all the other Slater women? Now she practically is the lead female character on the show. LOL!
  5. Aw, here it is 8:54 into this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEM67Qz1kks
  6. I did really like their goodbye scene in 1999 at the train station. That was a really good soap moment.
  7. I've never gotten why Ricky and Bianca were so popular. Their first wedding was a national television event in the UK in 1997.
  8. I really hate Carol and how she seems to get involved in everyone's business and is so hypocritical about everything. But, I guess, we all know someone like her.
  9. Maybe Kirkwood will invest more in them when he takes over. He is openly gay and has a thing for gay stories, of course. But if he thinks what's going now is successful enough, things won't improve for the character. Very little criticism seems to have formed against this story in the press.
  10. I wish they'd get rid of Christian. I've never seen anything interesting with him or with his relationship with Syed. Unless Kirkwood has upcoming plans for them and will develop them more properly, they should just cut their losses already. It's strange that they've seemed to develop quite a fanbase though.
  11. Apparently, Mao Asada is about to switch coaches after spending two seasons with Tatiana Tarasova and coming off her win yesterday at World's.
  12. Please, it aired already, not my problem you aren't up to date with your viewing yet!
  13. Holly: THAT'S BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW! EVERYONE DOES IT! God, I hate when soaps give teens HORRIBLE dialogue like this when they attempt drug storylines. The actress likes to yell everything too, she's horrible.
  14. What did you think of the women's side, lovely_m?
  15. Jeremy Abbott who came in at 5th, Adam Rippon who came in at 6th, and Ryan Bradley who came in at 18th.
  16. It was on the Universal Sports Channel, I don't know if they carry that channel in your area. It seems pretty obscure for most people in the US. Daisuke Takahashi of Japan won on the men's side, he won Bronze at the Olympics. Patrick Chen of Canada was in second, and Brian Joubert of France was third.
  17. Mao Asada KICKED ASS! Her free skate was phenomenal, and she beat Yu-Na by almost 7 points. Though, I was surprised Yu-Na got an extra point over Mao in the free skate scores. Yu-Na didn't seem to come prepared after her Olympic victory. Mirai Nagasu, sadly, just had a total breakdown. She's still young though and this was her first Worlds. Anyway, Mao Asada definitely came prepared. She was both artistic and athletic. No one else came close in the free skate. Glad she won. Yu-Na's skating just seemed so lifeless after her Olympic win. I wouldn't be surprised if she retires soon, she already has an Olympic Gold, and most Gold Medal Olympic winners usually retire and don't defend their win at the next Olympics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HVek1fevUQ
  18. I felt sorry for Jane, but she was also becoming one of those baby-obsessed soap women with her constant pestering of Lucy and the damn baby book she was always going on about, I'm almost glad Lucy decided on an abortion. Maybe Jane will discover an unattended baby on her doorstep one day. LOL! Yeah, it's probably the only story with some type of human value to it at the moment. I loved that Peter and Lucy scene too, and I agree, they really felt like twins there. I like the Beale twins, probably two of the only teens on the show I can properly stomach right now. I hope Peter and Lauren get back together, as I liked them and liked Lauren too.
  19. It was probably the last major event/confrontation of the Santer era with Max confronting Stacey for the first time since Bradley's death, and it ended with a sleek choice in direction. Santer is like a John Conboy of British soap producers, he really made EastEnders look amazing at times aesthetically, even if a lot of his stories were poorly executed or followed though on. I'm predicting Kirkwood's name will probably pop up in the credits late in May or definitely by the first week of June.
  20. I think it won't be until June. Santer started in October 2006, and his first episodes didn't air until January 2007. So, I guess there's a 3 months in advance gap in production. Kirkwood officially started on March 1st behind the scenes. Though, there might be a time where both of their names will appear in the credits, Kirkwood was helping in the storylining during Santer's final weeks. Though, I suspect, we won't really see Kirkwood's stamp on things until well into the summer, when Santer's plots will mostly run dry.
  21. It should be interesting to see where everyone goes from here. How the road to recovery for Stacey will be. I'm wondering if she'll even get to have the baby, or will she miscarry? Tanya isn't coming back until the late summer or so. So, I guess Zoe Lucker's new character will be introduced before then. I'm excited to see her on EastEnders, I hope she's playing some type of fierce bitch. I love Santer's artsy production values. LOL! Yeah, more cohesive stories are better, but I'm a sucker for good aesthetics. I don't know what Kirkwood has in store for this show, so little has been revealed and he's done no interviews as of yet. I kind of just fell back into watching EastEnders randomly again. I find I can stomach it more than Corrie or Hollyoaks right now. I've never been a big Emmerdale fan. I'm hoping EastEnders, Corrie, and Hollyoaks all improve with the changes in Producers this year.
  22. Sam and Olena are horrendously boring.
  23. God, I loved the directing of that final scene in Friday's episode. EastEnders is lucky to have many great actors that can sell some of this shoddy storytelling.
  24. Not crazy about the story, but Jake and Lacey were amazing in Friday's episode.
