  1. I've just watched Santa Barbara's very first week of episodes, and it was fun seeing how they set it all up. (I did enjoy the flashbacks to Channing's murder echoed in another party in the present day). But my goodness, the scenes between Santana Andrade and her mother Rosa are atrocious! Mainly thanks to Rosa's dialogue: (Re. Santana and Channing) ROSA: 'What else is there? Tell me, Santana. You weren't secretly married or anything?' This habit she has of mentioning her daughter's name over and over again drove me nuts! SANTANA: 'I'm so angry. Angry at myself, at CC, at having my baby taken away from me!' ROSA: [CONSOLING] 'Santana' SANTANA: 'There's only one thing that I can do. And that is to get my baby back.' ROSA: [REGRETFUL] 'Oh, Santana, Santana.' Just awful!
  2. That's interesting - do you have a link, please?
  3. Shirley Stelfox, who played Edna, has died of cancer. Am so heartbroken about this - loved her character so, so much. Like Ashley, she gives depth to the show. A huge loss to Emmerdale. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35039710
  4. They really overdid the "Robert's clearly going to land Chrissie in it" angle, so it was obvious he'd end up going the right thing. But I agree that the Sugdens have been fantastic, and it's great that Doug has more to do now. LOVED the scenes where Chas was hallucinating/dreaming. "I killed my dad for you!" SO freaky. And how refreshing to have a soap character crack up thanks to all the drama she's been through, and for it to be acknowledged.
  5. BOLD, as its known in Australia, is a real fixture on Aussie TV, and it's the only US daytime soap still shown on network TV there. (On Channel Ten, where Neighbours started, and which is the sister channel to eleven, the current home of Neighbours). Y&R and DAYS are both on cable over there, and I don't think GH is shown now.
  6. Neighbours episodes will be broadcast on the same day in both Australia and the UK from January. Good news for fans of the show. Does anybody else remember back in the late 80s/early 90s (when the UK lagged 18 months behind Oz) that there were premium rate phone lines you could call for spoilers on upcoming plots?! Anyway, hopefully this will soon become the norm for all current soaps. Surely in these days of social media, etc, it's the only way ahead?http://about.channel5.com/node/2166
  7. The scene in The Woolpack the other day where Emma was helping out in the bar and her and Chas were playing nice with rictus grins, before Chas muttered to Cain: "I.Haaate. Her." has to be one of my favourites of the year. It was hilarious!
  8. Am a little behind on the show, so only just watched the episode where Ross dangled Pete off the viaduct. I found the whole thing completely unnecessary and distasteful - that level of violence, and Ross's sadistic delight, was just so off-putting to me. I enjoyed the scenes that followed, where Pete and Moira (who I'm convinced are going to have an affair) told the rest of the Bartons what had happened, but am so over the OTT violence on this show. Don't get me wrong, I love scenes like the one where Chrissie pressed down on a hospitalised Robert's chest - it was menacing and subtle. Enough of all these criminal boys beating each other up, though!
  9. That promo is hilariously overblown - all that pouting at the end from Stella and Eva is like something out of RuPaul's Drag Race! Thanks for posting.
  10. OMG, that would be incredible! In both senses of the word. Yes, I'm also in denial about him leaving. It's almost as if they're saying "We're doing a dementia storyline, but don't worry it won't drag on for years." As somebody else said, let's hope Laurel hits the bottle again.
  11. Agreed - the Lovedays flashback episode is a must watch, it was brilliantly done.
  12. Ashley gives Emmerdale some much-needed depth, so I am really not happy about this news. But I think all the actors involved can do it justice, as they did with Laurel's alcoholism. The Who Shot Robert? reveal was SUCH a letdown. Why is Ross shoehorned into everything? That's three of the show's biggest reveals (the other two being his return-from-the-dead and Who's Charity's Babydaddy?) that have centred around him. And the way he goaded Andy into going along with it - "Maybe Katie was still breathing" or whatever, was just vile. Yuck. At least Robert is conscious and messing with everybody's heads again.
  13. Wonderful! Completely agree. I'd also like to add that as much as I do like Cain, I loved the way Diane refused to be intimidated by him in The Woolpack. The Dingles en masse are just unbearable.
  14. It was so refreshing when Emma ripped into Cain on a daily basis when she thought he'd killed Ross. (As much as I do like Cain). I enjoyed Debbie as a character during the Cameron saga, but I STILL feel that Debbie should have gone to prison for her and Cameron literally driving Gennie to her death. Now I can't wait for Charley Webb's maternity leave to begin.
  15. Emma nicely summed up Debbie's 'personality' once again last week, to Ross: "She's hard as nails. Entitlement coming off her in waves. She'll never be happy - all she's got is anger." Wonderful stuff!
  16. Am also already chomping at the bit for Charity to be released from prison so Emma can clash with her. All in good time!
  17. When the last scene of last night's ep started, I was thinking "Who the heck is in hospital?" Ha ha. I actually punched the air when Ross showed up - that was the best reveal in ages. And skanky Debbie is reaping what she sowed, hyperventilating all over the place. Good! I'm also surprised at how much I'm enjoying the reunited Emma and James - she genuinely looked like she'd just had a great shag in one of the earlier scenes. She was glowing! And the Sam/Rachel domestic violence stuff is really compelling and realistic. This show is on fire.
  18. Totally. I'm really enjoying unhinged Emma - any scene where she strides into The Woolpack and tells it like it is always gets me going! I love that she calls out the Dingles for what they are - 'inbred' etc. And referring to Debbie's 'sour face' was just wonderful.
  19. Very sad news about Kitty McGeever. Friday's Emmerdale was so soaptastic with the Jai/Megan drama, with some great lines - the scene where they showed up at Leyla's and he dumped her was fantastic.
  20. LOL its like you're reading my mind. I legit thought Pete was gonna choke the living daylights out of Debbie and probably kill her while everyone was out of the room! Pete looks like he's completely SNAPPED. Its like something's just changed. He's no longer naive, country bumpkin without a brain as bae would call him. Anthony Quilian def is selling the hell out of this aftermath. I just love the pure rage and expressions of confusion about what to do next while also feeling sad about Ross. I was really hoping the same - that Pete was going to lean in and whisper in Debbie's ear that he's now going to make her life a living hell. But I loved the moment where she reached out her hand to him and he didn't take it. Something tells me that Debbie will soon be longing for the good old days with Cameron...
  21. True, Pete is a dull character - which is why Pete ended up with Ross for "the best sex she's ever had." *sigh* So Joanie, James and Finn all survived against the odds. Wonder if there'll be another death tomorrow night, though? I doubt it somehow. And why were Alicia, Kirin, Priya and Rakesh in the Summer Fate trailer, yet they were nowhere to be seen this week?! Imagine if Kim Tate had been in that helicopter! It's all too much.
  22. Completely agree with everything you said, Ben. I was so completely stunned , but am clinging on to the hope that Ross may do a Mercedes McQueen and rise from the dead. Val's exit was perfection, even if it did feel a little like something from Final Destination. LOVED it when she lit up a cigarette, all defiant like. The biggest revelation, acting-wise, for me this week has been Anthony Quinlan. He does 'angry' so well! There's some juicy stuff to come at Home Farm - this is huge for the Whites. God, I love this show.
  23. I thought Tuesday's episode did a brilliant job of building the tension throughout - and the reveal of Debbie's affair was fabulous, even if we've seen it done before. (It was so intense, I really thought Pete might hit her). The Ross 'cliffhanger' moment was a real showstopper too. I also really enjoyed the Marlon/Rhona scenes and was relieved they didn't kiss. Diane and Val trapped in the hall of mirrors is sheer genius - I'm really worried about Diane's head injury, though. Why oh why couldn't Lisa Dingle have returned for the wedding, in order for to be incinerated? Also, while I thought the acting in the Ruby/Dan/Kerry scenes was top-notch, I personally don't think Ruby's death merited so much screen time tonight. She's been a deadwood character throughout her stint. I do think there's much bigger deaths to come before the week is out.
  24. Completely agree - the revelation of a gay affair in the village should have been huge, but it felt like a damp squib and there's so much else going on that it just felt like most people just shrugged and carried on. On a smaller scale, I felt the same when Laurel killed Marlon's dog - in reality she would have been ostracised by people and the show could have squeezed some drama out of that. (From the likes of Edna, especially). But the plot just kept on moving.
  25. Thanks for the info. As much as I love the character of Charity, I did think the audience needed a rest from her. But I also love that she's still popping up and causing mayhem! Am so nervous about who's going to be killed off in the disaster.
