Well, you know, a gay half-brother or other relative of Abe's has dramatic possibilities.  For one thing, it could give Abe and the other African-Americans on this show more story.  For another, I'm not sure whether there HAS been a gay Black man on DAYS, or any soap for that matter.  Ergo, a character such as "Gabe Carver" could prove groundbreaking (and more importantly, buzzworthy for a show that's trying to survive).

Ron Carlivati had Felix on GH.  And I think he did Brad before TomSell did Paul?

  2. Today was a really good episode, but it certainly wasn't a particularly special or festive "holiday" episode.  It would've been so Michael fun to actually SEE that K dinner.  The last time the K's had a Thanksgiving dinner on screen was when I started watching in 2000--it was like Vic, Kate, Philip, Lucas, Nicole, and Sami lolol.

Dee Hall always gets this kind of stuff wrong... she's going overboard with the way Marlena is treating "Hope."  If she knows something's off, then she should assume Gina is back, not that one of her bffs is trying f her husband.

    NOT here for Stevano.

But since the budget doesn't allow for dining rooms, it would've been nice to have a big Brady dinner at the pub.  Work with what ya got.

  3. I thought it went Cheatin' Heart (Adrienne)--->Common Grounds (Sonny and Chad)--->Club TBD (Sonny and Chad, then Dario Hernandez)--->Doug's Place (Julie and Chloe).  It'd explain a lot to me if Club TBD was a totally different location from Common Grounds, though.  I hated that they got rid of The Cheatin' Heart... I loved that they had a dive bar set.  What didn't make sense was that Adrienne Johnson-Kiriakis was the owner and operator.  Judi Evans played bartender well, but it didn't fit the character.  I also liked the exterior alley where you entered The Cheatin' Heart.  That's obviously not the exterior to Club TBD, but I remember the explanation that Sonny and Chad renovated the coffee shop into the club?

I think that it's interesting that Kristen and Lani are bonding in the convent.I actually like that they are having scenes together and confiding in each other. I could see Kristen end up giving Lani some advice on how to deal with Gabi. Especially if they both go back to Salem, which I think they will at some point. And I want to know more about what really happened with Brady and Kristen's baby. I also like seeing Sarah and Xander get closer. I do wonder how everything will end up sorting itself out with this baby storyline of Sarah/Xander/Eric/Brady/Nicole/Kristen.

My favorite surprise from the TJ is Kristen & Lani.  The premise is absolutely STUPID, but it's so random that I flove it in a campy, "twilight zone" kind of way.  I'm hoping Lani will wind up being undercover, maybe even investigating Kristen... the Kristen would feel betrayed, etc.  I didn't notice until the anniversary cliffhanger episode, but SH was lovely in her confession scenes with Eric and Brady, and now with Lani.  When she's not being baths!t crazy, her Kristen actually can be multifaceted.  I'm probably hoping for too much, but it'd be nice if RC explored her very complicated relationship with God.  I'm not looking forward to her seeing Brady again, though.  And with all their rich, messy history, Lani/Eli/Gabi should be so much better.  But the baby drama has only been mentioned, like, once.

Anyone else notice the Rome convent is DiMansion study?  Pretty good set redress.

What if --- BIG if, because we know Eric Martsolf will NEVER leave --- Kyle Lowder took back the role of Brady? Would you still want Brady/Nicole as endgame? Or perhaps a returned Chloe?

I loved '03-'05 Bricole, but I prefer EM's Brady.  I didn't know what to think when this casting was announced after "Passions" was cancelled, but I love him all things considered.  I know people are divided on the actor, character, and Brady's MANY "love of my life" pairings, but he's definitely a very lead character for me.  But he and Kristen as a longtime viable couple is insane to me.

And I know it's jarring that Broe were effectively killed even before EM took over, but I never liked them together after the initial triangle with Philip.  Chloe works much better for me with the Nicole, Lucas, etc. group.

I feel like Ron wanted to write for Bryan/Lucas but that seemed to get quickly cut. I'm also resentful that EJ was presented as Sami's love of her life soulmate instead of Lucas. He SO got the shaft.

It bugs me a lot that neither Mike or Lucas are around to help anchor the Horton's further. We never should have had nearly a decade of Daniel Jonas. Mike could have filled most of that and we'd avoid the awful Dannifer pairing .... Mike could have banged Kate [hello, family drama!], stolen Chloe from half brother Lucas [who stole her from HIS half-brother], banged Nicole ... if the show desperately wanted Shawn Christian on the show, he could have been Mike, or Daniel Cosgrove could have been Mike and paired with Kayla instead ....

I HATE that they tossed Lucas aside for EJ (and motherf'n Rafe).  Lumi really should be endgame... I know Sheffer never would've made EJami "soulmates."  And honestly, it was really Tomsell that deified EJami... Higley and MarDar were all about showing how sick they were together, despite their attraction.  And Tomsell initially seemed like they were going back to Safe (::barf::) but maybe tptb finally gave into the EJami stans.

Daniel Jonas is one of the worst things to ever happen on "Days" in the 19 years I've been a fan... his terrible legacy lives on through Nicole, Chloe, Eric, Parker, Holly, and Maggie, too.  We can't even forget about him ever!  Lol.  The only thing I can appreciate about him is that even though he really sullied Jennifer, Tomsell (bc of Dr. Dan) wrote her and her kids as the anchor Hortons and that family as "the center/heart of the show" REALLY worked/s for me.  And before he was cast as Daniel, I actually wanted SC as Austin.  And Ty Treadway as Mike, lolol.  Never thought about Cosgrove as Mike... but that sounds great!

I'd love Mike back.  And Lucas.  I don't know why every writer has had a creative issue with him since Sheffer???  But I don't care for Lucas Horton... he's Lucas ROBERTS to me always.  He worked well as the black sheep Horton... Bill's branch being all messy with Mike's paternity, Jenn's parent issues, and both of them never really accepting Lucas was so much better than the normal stepford Horton stuff they characterize them as nowadays.  And why aren't Bill & Laura on recurring??

To be honest, I'd probably have her pop in and be the one who actually figures out that Hope is Gina. It would be fitting somehow considering the rest of Salem are apparently too dumb to notice.

I'd love this!  Krista Allen's Billie was onto Gina during the original story.

DAYS has tried for years and years to make Eric/Nicole happen, and the audience just does not care. LOL I like Sarah/Eric, they're wholesome but with edge. And Eric needs a woman that will put his happiness first, for once and isn't lying for their selfish reasons.

if Eric/Nicole were endgame this storyline wouldn't be happening, imo. There is no way Eric would forgive Nicole,  especially if the baby is dead. Nicole's gonna go dark and end up with Xander. They have waaaaaay more chemistry, anyway.

I've always wanted Brady/Nicole as endgame... I know they're a Higley thing, but after ALL this time, they feel like the right conclusion.  And I've always been a fan--so... guilty, I'm biased.  Lol.

I do like Eric/Nicole, too.  I want to like Sarah, but there's something that doesn't totally work for me about her.  Love her and Xander together, though.  I'm pretending that Kyle Lowder's Rex never happened.  Oiy.

But I'm guessing the baby is def. Brady & Kristen's.  Better than Eric & Sarah's, but ugh to either option. I will never understand why Tomsell didn't have Kristen have Eric's baby in '14?!?  THAT was the show changing story.

  8. That's a shame he had to go and do that.  I always kinda liked him because I thought he (and Philip) got the shaft.  I'm not inclined to believe him about MM (at least to the extent he's claiming) because he's always made it seem that he had a negative experience and couldn't wait to get the hell off "Days" and go back to his extremely privileged life in Chicago.  Most would say he was a dismal failure, but I doubt he'd care--his life is outwardly obviously everything he wants it to be... people like that can write their own narrative and believe whatever they want, whether they earned it or not.

But it is possible that Martha was doing her part to push Shelle bts and holding sh!t against KB, like some claim Becky Herbst did with Liason 10-ish years ago and all the Daniel Goddard/Lane talk now.

Would Julie Pinson return as Billie. I liked her take on the role

She was my favorite.  Unless she's moved on from acting, I'm assuming she would... she seemed so down to work, and said she wanted Billie SO BAD (she auditioned for Billie in '96 and '02 before getting her in '04).  I know her turn as ATWT's Janet was controversial, but for her sake, I'm glad she must've made some good $$ considering she was so overexposed.  Hope she and Billy Warlock made it work this time (Frankie & Billie were such a missed opportunity!).

i wonder if they moved the taping back to January cause they were worried if they waited til April, some actors may have moved on

If they are resuming filming early, I'm assuming that's why.  Even with the cast's lack of other prospects, it was a huge gamble to leave them uncommitted for that long... for example, even though Kris Alfonso seems like a lifer, what if she walked and Hope Williams was left without a proper ending???

But now we're not filling the tape-air gap in any meaningful way.  So we're still f'd.  They were stuck between a rock and a hard spot.

If they are utilizing smaller sets now, then they need to shrink the cast size, too.  I saw some of the scenes at the bistro and Julie's Place, and I swear it looked as if people were sitting in each other's laps.  DAYS' cast is still too big given the ever-shrinking size of its' production.

    Lol.

This is true.  I never cared for the set design when Tom Langan was EP, but he had motherf**kin' $$ to spend.  Besides Salem Place and all the shots on the Burbank lot, there were dozens and dozens of sets and some public spaces were huge with multiple areas (I remember University Hospital with a huge lobby/nurse's/admin station, a huge cafeteria, a big ass hallway, and terrace... and Salem Inn's lobby was crazy big).  But ya, even though I like the bistro... everything is right there; Tuscany and Dot Com had several, distinct areas where multiple scenes could take place without this current claustrophobic, confining environment.  You can do that kind of thing at Brady Pub still, but it's probably too time consuming to plan scenes at the bar, a little table, and booth all in the same block.

  12. 24 minutes ago, KMan101 said:

LOL yep. And that bistro set? And Julie's Place is awkward and smaller. The prison sets look "spacious". And TBH I'm good with a break from the DiMansion set. Definitely some staging/filming angles differences.

At least they're painting the blue wall room gray now and added a refresh of the smaller hospital set. So steps on improvement (sort of) but then smaller sets. I guess it is what it is at this point. At least we aren't in some alleyway in Burbank yet.

I love the new hospital... it was such an effective way to visually mark the TJ.  (Incidentally, University Hospital was the ONLY aesthetic change Gary Tomlin made that I liked.)

The bistro is obviously DiMansion study redressed but I love it.  I'm so disappointed in Julie's Place... that set is a flop, which is surprising because even without a budget, set design has really improved over the last couple years... esp. the revamps of the Kiriakis mansion and Horton home--they really turned out great, imo.  And the little touches with Gabi Chic, Saxtons, and Salem Inn at the square add a lot after tptb stopped giving a sh!t about HTS in

2013.  Eric even has his Africa photography in his apartment.  Someone finally cares!  LOL.  And the Chabby in Paris apartment was gorgeous, and totally reflective of Abby's art background.  The multipurpose warehouse set is fine; I appreciate getting spaces for Gina, Basic Black, and Eli (too bad we lost ugly Martin House, though... that had a lot of historical significance).  J&M's townhouse redecoration is a huge improvement but Kayla's condo is an embarrassingly obvious redress.

But I think it's too bad we're doing without DiMansion foyer/living room for now... seeing so much of DiMansion and getting DiMera Enterprises sets really helped that Stefan/Gabby nonsense for me in early 2018.  Environment can really change mood, but alas we have no money lolol.

  13. I'm so stoked about this... when they graduated in 2002, I was finishing my freshman year of high school and had been watching just over two years.  However, shortly after this time, I wound up being so annoyed by them (that college year with Rex & Cassie and the dating show was rough).  Then as the Reilly 2.0 years went on, it was sad to see all the unrealized potential with Mimi/Shawn/Belle/Philip.  The Shelle/Phelle triangle got legs with Sheffer, but then Chloe strangely returned a villain and Higley ::poof:: wrote Shelle out along with a grip of other characters and Chloe (and Brady) transitioned into the Nicole/EJ/Sami/Rafe/Lucas group and Philip eventually played opposite Steph/Nate/Mel.  JPL's turn as Phil was a disaster... he only worked at the very end once Shelle were gone... he and Kate were hilarious at Lucas & Adrienne's wedding.  I'll be thrilled to see JKJ back and I'm crossing my fingers he'll pop up on the main show... I was very disappointed they didn't work Austin in when he was back for Chabby in Paris... it's so weird that Kate doesn't have any of her kids on the show.

  14. I think it's a lot better that Xander did it (I'm assuming that, too).  Having Sarah steal a baby would've been too much.  Xander is an obvious "twist," though... if RC wants to swing for the fences with this babyswitch, Nicole is the real wild card.  But good luck rehabbing her after that.

Sam/Tea and Lulu/Maxie were messes on GH, but I thought RC did a really nice job with Jess/Starr.  The episode where they gave birth (and Tina's dog, David Vickers) was insane but not in a bad way.  "Days" is missing something in their production values to make that sort of thing work as effectively... but hopefully we'll get some sort of overwrought montage of the births, switch, and Haley's death.  Jennifer's fall montage wasn't totally successful but I appreciated the effort.

  15. If the Sarah/Kristen spoiler is true... I hope they somehow incorporate Sarah finding out Kristen planned to steal her baby... but no matter what, this is an extreme twist for a character RC has seemingly been desperate to position as the show's young lead heroine in a post-Abigail Salem.  That's the problem with him... he takes things way too far and then there's no way to backtrack (OLTL's Marty, GH's Johnny, etc.).  I really like Linsey Godfrey, and now that she's out of that stupid triangle with Eric/"Rex," I even like Sarah (esp. with Xander)... but the character needs a shot in the arm, but making her mental and steal a baby is not necessary, lol.

Of course the wedding is in the town square.

Lol.  Has St. Luke's been used since Chad & Abby's/Sonny & Paul's wedding?

However, my expectations are so low at this point, I'm stoked to see that much exterior of the Hernandez house from the above pictures.

Also curious what set Tony is in... I can't place that window seat.

BIG EVENT TEASER AHEAD...STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW!

    74494386_1561431433999125_63904442759344

There's only 14 episodes left until the (SPOILERS AHEAD) one-year time jump on "Days of Our Lives", which coincides with the show's 54th anniversary on Friday, November 8. Here's the next teaser to build more anticipation as for what's in store: At least one of the characters in this photo will not survive the time jump. Who do you think will die during the year that is skipped over? And, as a helpful reminder, even if you keep track of who is taping episodes on social media, perhaps the actor(s) have just been taping newly-created flashbacks of the skipped year, so don't use social media sightings to rule anyone out!

After today's "Days," maybe Jenn will be framed for Eve's murder...?  She'll be in jail w Princess Gina/Hope?  Far fetched... lol.

  18. I'm so excited for this time jump.  Soaps desperately need to switch sh!t up... the fact that it's novel for it to go from night to the next day in an episode shows how frozen in time this medium is.  However, what they want to achieve here is pretty complicated under the best circumstances ("Lost"/"Once Upon a Time")... with the rushed writing/filming and Dollar Tree budget, it'll be a miracle if they pull this off past the first couple weeks.

  19. The set looks like DiMansion with a bar added to me.  But it's been so many years, I honestly can't recall what Chez Rouge looked like.  But, if IRC, it was Tuscany/Alice's redressed... I think I remember that raised entry area with the host stand.  Tom Langan was garbage in most ways, but his restaurant sets often had stairs and a few different, defined spaces.  I'd kill for that now, lol.  It'd be cool if this restaurant is the interior for Mandalay.

And I'm assuming the loft rearranged is supposed to be Lani's place... and maybe the warehouse is the loft reconfigured, too?  Production should have saved these "new" sets for the time jump to asthetically differentiate between times.  For me, that's gonna be key to make this work past the initial "shock."  This time jump can't just be a creative writing thing, it has to be a creative production thing, too.

But this Justin & Adrienne proposal makes me worried that the spoiler is true, at least in some form.  However, they should be showing her 3-4 days a week with all her significant screen partners to maximize the impact if they're killing her off.  I'd be crushed if she dies; and it's pointless... she's a legacy character, but if they wanted to do a high-stakes "risk" death out of the current cast for the jump, they should go for someone more prominently featured. 😬

I just finished watching the Cruise of Deception summer. WOW. One of the best adventure stories I have ever seen on daytime. I loved the balance of the cast with Julie and Victor drawn in, the Jack/Jennifer angst (really made me a fan) and the romance between Hope/Bo and Roman/Isabella. I also really enjoyed Ernesto Toscano-probably a Stefano clone more or less but I thought he was fun.

Outside of her ending up with Stefano, did they delve into Hope's missing years? I could honestly see Ernesto's "magic trick" working and they somehow escaped the whole time.

As for the rest of the show around this time-I wish they did more with Carrie and Sarah, Maggie seems so much younger than Mickey, Emilio/Melissa/recast Kimberly/Nick, etc. do not draw me in at all and its nice to see DAYS attempting an interracial romance with Marcus and Carly.

CoD is sooo good.  Richard Allen & Anne Schoettle's hw tenure gets mixed reviews--I think their "Days" was as realistic and dark as this show gets... but events like CoD and Alamania really paid tribute to the adventures that defined the '80s.  Jack & Jennifer are my fav. couple, though, so obviously I'm biased.

In 2006, Anne Schoettle wrote the script for Jack & Jennifer's farewell and Claire's paternity reveal.  It's so interesting to see her writing for familiar characters like J&J, S&K, B&H, Maggie, Jo, Vern, and Alice juxtaposed with the long-awaited Philip/Belle/Shawn/Mimi fallout.

  21. Kassie is great, and she has really settled in at "Days"... but ya, this is too far a departure from CR's Eve, even if it was 20+ years later.  Still sad to lose a legacy character... do we consider Eve a "legacy character?"  Lol

I loved Brandon Barash on GH but maybe Stefan was too damaged with the Abby/Gabby story... or there was too much of a reset after Chabby left/BB took over... but I still have trouble with him.  But it's too bad we're losing BB.  Hope he gets to interact with Billy & Kate.
