Someone told me this was one of Marty's cues. I used to LOVE DAYS's background music pre-1998. Even the cheesy possession cues. I may have said this on the board before, but I was SO disappointed when I bought the DAYS soundtrack and all of these beautiful pieces I fell in love with when I started watching weren't on the CD. :(

I also love most of B&B's music too. I know some here think it's cheesy, but one person's Velveeta is another's gouda.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS4MUB6Gn-c

Starts in at about 0:43. I love the way the piano builds the tension and the secrecy without going overboard with a bunch of strings, synth, or drum beats. I like to call this the "Scandal Cue."

There is another cue I enjoy from B&B, but I heard this in a vintage clip on YouTube. It was in a scene involving Brooke and Stephanie, but I am sure it's been taken down. If I find it, I'll post it.

Dominic Messinger does alot of cheesy pieces, but it works for some of the shows he's done. Alot of GH's new music(which I assume is stuff he's worked on) sucks for the tone of that show, while at the same time, he did amazing pieces for Sunset Beach and Spyder Games that fit in with the tone of those shows. Again, if I find these examples, I'll post them.

I'm hoping, since we live in an age of digital downloads and iTunes, some of these composers will sell their pieces there. It would be convenient and alot easier, especially since one wouldn't have to go to a publisher directly to get a CD printed and sell the music.

  2. It's like, who is the United States to judge other countries right to bear nuclear weapons and other dangerous items?

That is where I agree with you.

I think the U.S. has no right to judge other countries for their nuclear programs or arms.

To protect one's borders is one thing. But to tell someone else they're not allowed to have theirs to protect themselves is outrageous.

  3. I have a question on gun "control." I don't want someone to defend the constitution to me. I just want a logical use for an automatic weapon in domestic life, especially in sparsly populated areas with low crime rates, or even highly populated areas with lower crimes rate. (I suppose I can understand the crime argument a little, so I'm taking that element out.). Are you really going to blow those deers to pieces with an AK-47? Is there an actual reason why people want automatic weapons other than just because the consitution is supposed to allow it? I'm not trying to be hippie-ish and say everyone should get rid of their weapons. I just sometimes have a very logical view on the world and wonder what people would actually do.

As someone who personally doesn't own a gun, I still believe in a right to bear arms. Just as I believe it is one's right to own that knife and daggar collection, that high performance sports car, that plasma HD television, etc.

Part of a right to bear arms is because of protecting one's home and property, but part of it is for sport. Who are we to judge someone for owning an AK-47? How do we know whether someone will use it for protection or to mass murder a group of people? The same way we have no idea whether those expensive knives will be used for hunting or murdering a group of people in a mall or whether that high performance sports car can be used in a hit and run.

How do we know what will cause harm to whom?

  4. Thanks for the reply!

Does anyone know who currently owns the rights to Sunset Beach? I see that it is currently airing in Sout Africa on etv

I would love to be able to watch this soap again and would love if the owner would at least put it all out on the internet maybe as a payper view site or something.

I see no hope of any network airing it again in the us but it bugs me that with all the technology there is not a was for the owner to put it out on the internet or cable tv and still make money off of the fans who want to watch it

Hmmmm....Dunno for sure, but I do know Spelling Television properties were absorbed by Viacom which is now owned by CBS/Paramount. NBC also co-owns the show. I doubt that NBC owns the syndication rights to the show because on their distribution website, Sunset Beach(which is still playing in some areas of the world) is nowhere to be found, but Passions and Saved by the Bell are. Not that it means anything...

  5. Could you clarify what years you are referring to with regard to the different writers and consultants?

Was Meg Bennet co HW during the first year? I think that was my favorite year now that I've seen it. I didn't enjoy any of the wierd supernatural or silly story lines especially that last year. The main reason I watched and loved it during those last 2 years was because of the Gabi Antonio story line. I didn't really care too much for any of the others. I think I would have been more invested in Ben and Meg if I had seen the beginning of their relationship. I did not enjoy Maria. I thought the actress who played her always overacted with her facial expressions and so she was annoying to me.

With regard to Gabi and Antonio I about fell off of my chair when they finally consumated their relationship. I still have that video tape( and I don't even have a vcr anymore) It was the only episode of a soap that I taped and saved!!

Toups has the information in the boards archives, but going by memory, I don't think Meg Bennett began her HW stint until after Guza left in late 1997. She was paired with Christopher Whitesell(who would stay on till the show ended in 1999). When Bennett left after Shockwave(probably September/October of 1998), she was replaced with Margaret DePriest. Reilly consulted(credited as Execitve Story Consultant) from late 1997 to the beginning of 1999.

Beach's first year was very rocky. It had it's highlights, but I also think the show suffered from that whole, "Let's be like Melrose Place" disease every new show was suffering from in the mid-to-late 90's(Port Charles, The City). The problem with Beach was that the show, aside from it's wonderful production values(which many believe were stolen/inspired by/borrowed from Santa Barbara), there was really nothing else. Stories that were interesting(Paula's Kidnapping By Fellow Cop Eddie, Rae/Casey) moved way too fast and/or were dropped altogether. Certain characters that DID click weren't placed in storylines or weren't utilized to their full potential.

The best thing Meg Bennett/Whitesell/Reilly ever did was push characters into other orbits and although not every move was successful or well-received(the biggest misstep in the Gabi character was killing off Mark and pairing her with Ricardo again), they struck gold with others(moving Annie out of the boring Ben/Meg romance and getting her involved in every aspect of the Richards Family, a seed planted when the show first began). The last two years, although somewhat campy and silly at times, were infinitely better than the first year.

  6. Also I understand some actors were not going to renew their contracts but then it became a moot point when the show ended. Was Susan Ward one of them? Who else?

I remembered reading in SOD that Susan Ward signed on to do one more year of BEACH, as did Clive Robertson. But, of course, the show was canceled.

I know Jason George and Sherri Saum weren't renewing. Dax Griffin was axed. Eddie Cibrian left to do Third Watch during the middle of July or August(Gary Tomlin, once he was safe working at OLTL, said he was pissed that NBC(who handled the actors contracts) allowed Cibrian to leave BEACH for THIRD WATCH, instead of letting him do doube duty.

I do say that even though I have more Margaret DePriest/Whitesell stuff on tape, the best period of this show was when Meg Bennet was co-HW. I know alot of people really credit Reilly's consulting with the show's upswing in late 97, but I think the plotting and especially the characterization majorly lost something when she jumped ship and DePriest took over(BTW, I believe Reilly's name was still credited with the show until early 1999). The show became alot darker and more shallow than it was before(not that it was any less fun before). Not to mention more dumb.

I remember when I was on this huge BEACH board back in the day and someone spoiled that Meg and Ben's wedding was all a dream. LOL. The Ben/Meg fanbase were SO pissed, I'm sure the show ended up setting up the bed on the soon-to-be-struck set and wrote that last corny scene "assuring Meg it was no dream," confusing the hell out of the audience.

  7. Tracy needs her own show.

How funny that I haven't been to this thread in AGES and this is the first post I see!? Because I was JUST about to post that, Keith.

I want Frons to get a brain and revive THE CITY, featuring Tracy Q. Or AT least give her her own TV show.

THE CITY is seriously the reason why I fell in love for Jane Elliot and Tracy Q. A) She had a better, more kickass wardrobe then than she does now. Everything revolved around her, which it should have. And her digs were off-the-chain. Even if they were inherited from someone else! I should post some more stuff(I know YouTube is probably preferred) featuring her on that show.

Ahhhh....Tracy is SO wasted on GH! Someone please give The Queen something exciting to do?!

BTW, she looked great on Today's show. Love her hair long and dark!

The last part of THE CITY's Fake Quartermaine Party. There are a lot of good lines in this one too.

    Previously...

Carla threatened to expose Tracy's fake Edward, Lila, and Ned to her father, Gino, during the middle of the engagement party.

Tracy threatened to expose Carla's fake pregnancy to Carla's hubby, Tony, and Tracy's fiancee, Gino.

These clips are Quicktime, iTunes, and iPod Video friendly. You will need to download either one or both programs to see the material. The file is the entire episode, so it will take 30-45 minutes to download on a high-speed connection. But well worth it.

  9. I'm sorry about the dialup issue. All you really need is Quicktime to view the files if you can download them.

But it takes like three hours on a dialup connection and a lot of the time, dial-up clocks out. I am really sorry about that.

If anyone knows how to break those up into clips for the people who can't watch, I'd really appreciate it.

  10. MinervaFan, glad you like the banner. And your story has been read and reviewed. I second what angel posted...wow. :)

bellcurve, thanks so much for posting that! It was worth waiting the half hour and then downloading another program so I could get it to play. If anyone else is having trouble, go here. I'm pretty sure ILoveTracyQ has seen it before, but everyone else? It's hilarious!

    Here's some of the dialogue:

Tracy: You are NEVER to forget that you are Edward and Lila Quartermaine, my parents. And you are Ned Ashton, my son.

    Fake Ned: No problem, Mom.

Tracy: My son Ned would never call me Mom.

    Fake Ned: Sorry, Mother?

Fake Edward: Are there certain people you want us to impress tonight?

    Tracy: Just one.

Fake Lila: Boy, this guy must be loaded!

Tracy: Could you get into character please?

Fake Lila: (in British accent) Oh, this gentlemen must be quite well-off.

LOL, my favorite part is when Fake Lila says, "That's GINO SOLEITO the mob guy. Look. We have got to bail out of this gig NOW!"

Ms. Quartermaine, I have two more episodes in sequential order, one involving Carla and Tracy Q. confronting each other, Carla about Tracy's rent-a-family and she about Carla's faked pregnancy. They are all very, very funny!

I'll upload the other two later.

  11. Oh thanks guys...y'all are such an inviting group.

Depending on how big the files are, I'll try to upload them to something like "You Send It" so you guys can watch them.

Jane Elliot on THE CITY was my first exposure to Tracy. She is such a fabulous character and its a delight to see her on GH. She is one of, if not the BEST character on the show.

And a fanfiction idea of mine was always to pair her with Dr. Chris Ramsey from PORT CHARLES. I bet Jane and Nolan North would have great chemistry with each other, not to mention Tracy's penchant for younger men.

I'm gonna work on THE CITY project this weekend.

  12. Hey Tracy Fans...I am gonna try to upload the fake Quartermaine visit to my iPod this weekend. Watching it even now is a [!@#$%^&*] riot. Her hiring actors to play the Qs is totally her.

Too bad THE CITY didn't last. Jane Elliot would have been a shoein for Lead Actress in 1998.
