  1. I knew Aretha sung it but I put Patti for some reason LOL.

The show did seem to be too preachy in the last 2 years or so IMO. It was still entertaining, but I felt like every episode dealt with a social issue.

I looked at the ratings and it was a nice top 5 mainstay for most of its run, but just collapsed in Season 6, does anyone think it is because they lost The Cosby Show as a lead in and was moved to 8pm to kick off Must See TV? I think more of it had to do with how much the show had changed by Season 6.

What about those new crop of characters, that were to be the next generation? I loved Gina and Charmaine, but could NOT stand Lena, Dorian, and Terel.

  2. Well I just re-discovered this awesome show, after learning about its reruns on TV One.

This show was awesome. I loved all seasons except for the Lisa Bonet season. She could NOT carry a show. My fave characters were Whitley, Dwayne, Ron, Kim, Freddie, Mr. Gaines, Jaleesa, and Gina.

What are some of you guys' favorite episodes and pairings?

    My pairings:

    Whitley and Dwayne

    Freddie and Ron

    Kim and Ron

    Jaleesa and Walter

Most of my fave episodes are from Season5/6: The episode where Gina was being abused by her boyfriend, the episode where Tupac guest starred, the Mammy episode where Kim did that fabulous performance at the end, all of the episodes of the Dwayne/Whitley/Byron triangle, and also the one where Gina posted the DIGIT HO sign on Charmaine's back. LOL

I wish they had released Seasons 2-6 on DVD, but Season 1 did so horribly they cancelled all future releases.

I'll post more memories of this fanatastic show later.

  3. I wonder if they were considering going there but changed their minds because they were planning to give Kim Zimmer a dual role, first with Cassie (which Zimmer thankfully nixed) and then with Dolly.

Ew. Cassie played by Kim Zimmer?

Does anyone know what Aubrey Dollar has been up to? She was my fave Marina.

  4. I was reading an article a little while ago where David Kreizman basically put killing off Richard in the same category as killing off Maureen. He seems to think they were equally big mistakes

    LMAO.

    Kreizman is delusional.

Where is that clip at? lol. I do remember this. He did it, then Mike on ATWT did it. They had planned more too but then JJ/Superbowl happened...

So this was a P&G thing?

Trying to break new ground in daytime by showing bare asses? LOL.

  5. Do you (or anyone else) remember that character Eden?

She was running an escort service, and I think some of her clients were victims of Ben Reade (when he was a serial killer  ) and she was revealed to be Gus' sister.

Anyways, how did she exit? I really don't remember much about that.

  6. I guess this is old news but I was looking in the new Digest and Jerry ver Dorn said that he had the scripts for his return as Ross, he would basically speak as a ghost to Ed and then to Blake. But ABC wouldn't let him appear. He said he lives near where they filmed the weddings in the last episodes so he was out there on a boat watching them.

    :(

    Damn you Frons!

I was a Blake & Ross fanboy.

  7. It was actually. Tabitha's Thanksgiving dinner party in 2004 was one of Passions' finest post-Timmy moments and included all the over the top soapiness and camp Passions should have been. Tabitha was hosting the dinner and invited everyone just to "accidentally" let it slip that the Wheelers were really Martin and Katherine. Chaos ensured afterward.

    I think I remember this.

Didn't Luis then proceed to fight Martin?

  8. Yes Tabitha was hosting Thanksgiving dinner at her house and had a giant turkey piñata much like the one "Cassie's butchered body" was in at the Thanksgiving carnival. The piñata appeared to be dripping blood much to everyone's horror. It fell down and red gloop splattered all over the place. What had thought to have been blood turned out to be cranberry sauce!

    LOL! That's pretty funny.

  9. If you take out how bad they screwed over history... was the Maryanne Caruthers stuff that bad of a storyline? Granted, I hadn't watched anything GL pre-1991 when I saw it, so I had no idea that they were screwing up and rewriting things. I was purely entertained, and loved the whole aspect of the woman haunting Marina, Marah, and Michelle. It did get kind of wacky once Reva and Harley took over that storyline, just like they took over everything in GL's last decade.

  10. I was thinking today that this show should have been pitched to FOX. I think that FOX could have been interested in developing a soap in the late 90's, and this was a perfect match. Aaron Spelling created this show right? He gave FOX 90210 and Melrose Place, I'm sure they would have been interested. Since FOX always had lower ratings then NBC at this point, I think they would have been okay with the show in at least the 2.0-2.5 range. On top of that FOX probably would have tried to push this show in an afternoon timeslot like 3pm or 4pm, unlike NBC who let affiliates run it at 9am or 2am at night. This show most likely wouldn't be on now, but I think they could have lasted longer on FOX.
