To be fair to Brad Bell this is not just a B&B problem. Soaps are rarely very subtle in their dialogue. They don't use foreshadowing, they use a huge mallet to hammer home whatever point they're trying to make.

It's cause they have to dumb everything down. I mean go read FB or Twitter and you'll see why lol

Doesn't B&B only follow Y&R in about 50% of the country? In many cities: it's Y&R, local news, B&B

CBS tried to get B&B to expand to an hour in the 90s, but the Bells refused. While that worked when the schedule had 4 soaps, I think it's hurt them during the past decade. The narrow format has really hampered the show's ability to add depth to the canvas. It's the same merry-go-round and that's really burned them since 2021.

Yeah I watch a feed from I think New York for CBS when I wanna catch BOLD, and it is YR, News then BOLD

And how ominous that the lights went out in today's episode of The Talk.

They also started with a weird commercial two screen split while the small screen had the talk with visual only.

They always do the split screen

My fear, though, is that B&B's ratings might suffer without the Y&R lead-in.

Then maybe Bell will wake up and realize his "safety net" is gone and actually make an effort lol

Somehow I doubt that they have any basis for saying it looks like it will be an hour. If they had basis, why didn't they say what it was?

I think it will be as well

The show also paired her with people that looked years older than her.  Kiefer looked like he was 25 at 15.  Ethan?  Looked 10 years older than her and I actually don't think there was that much of an age difference.  Parker?  Get out.  Why would you pair LA with a woman that is a decade and a half older than her?   I really do understand she looks like a teenager, but the show didn't actually ever try to cast a love interest around that.

That is very true, I agree!

@dragonflies mention of Lois & Clark in the four seasons and done thread made me remember the tank and sabotage job done to that show during the fourth season.

Tank: Lois & Clark had a successful third season coming in a #44, the show’s highest rated season yet. After the much anticipated wedding finally occurred, the show weakened in its time-slot due increased fierce competition in the 8PM Sun slot from Touched by an Angel breaking out in that spot, 3rd Rock From the Sun, and a resurgent Simpsons. So ABC flip-flopped the and AHV around on the Sunday night line-up. The show tanked in the 7PM slot.

Sabotage: With the Disney takeover and the collapsing of the show, ABC then shipped the show to Saturday nights with little to no promotion and of course viewership fractured in half. Although ABC had agreed to a two season renewal at the end of Season 3, ABC/Disney changed their mind about the WB-owned show and promptly cancelled it. I recall ABC later green-lit some other short lived WB-owned show to make up from the loss.

ABC also did a lot of interference, they made the show hold off on the L&C wedding cause they wanted it to iine up with the wedding in the comics. the show never recovered from the "Frog eating clone arc" people were pissed off cause they felt like they got an FU. Hence the "Swear to God, This Time We're Not Kidding" title for their actual wedding
