  1. Hello, all! Great LuNacy day today - I really enjoyed what we got.

Wanted to pass along this article since I haven't seen it posted anywhere else yet:

    http://snarkweighsin.blog-city.com/weaver2.htm

It's an interview with Hugo Napier (Larry Ashton). He talks quite a bit about his days on GH and mentions JE several times with affection and respect. He sounds like such an interesting, down-to-earth guy - I'd love to see him on our screens again someday. Can you imagine Luke and Larry pitted against each other for Tracy's affections? Or even more fun, scheming together about something? :D

And nex, thanks as always for the clips.

  2. Yeah, that sat poorly with me, but it does underscore the fact that TG is doing the lines as written. He's not making up the LnL-is-over stuff. That's straight from the writers with his endorsement. I'm going to chalk it up to the same writer who keeps putting "Step monster" in Lulu's dialogue. Both relationships have moved on.

I dunno - I chalk the "stepmonster" bit up to being a term of endearment at this point. It's almost as set as Popsicle. :) We certainly can tell Lulu doesn't think Tracy is a monster.

And since we're talking about Lulu, I wanna give her props today for telling Dad like it is. I nearly cheered in our company breakroom watching her give Luke the lecture about putting Tracy first.

  3. halee, pretty sure Tracy is on tomorrow. Can't remember where I read it, but I could swear I did.

Hey y'all, iTunes now has "So Right," Tracy and Luke's theme song by Rie Sinclair. I love her voice - she reminds me so much of Norah Jones. I'm listening to it now and also picked up "Underneath the Night," another of her songs I really, really like.

GH has some pretty great musicians/songwriters. I'm also a fan of what I've heard from J.J. Farris, Bob Hartry, Jayson Belt and William Fitzgibbons. Fifth Floor Music has some serious talent in their coffers.

  4. remos, I've already been able to pick out the few I think you mean. And passion for what you love is good, but...

I've always fallen into the "multi-ship" category in most of my fandoms, where I like seeing how various characters interact in their relationships (romantic or otherwise). I rarely ever think one specific pairing is the "right one" or is the "one true pairing." It's hard for me to view teevee couples through that lens because I'm such a fan of character exploration. I do have pairings I prefer over others, but it's a rare moment when I can't find something to enjoy in any specific pairing.

In particular, I find it fascinating that when some fans feel threatened for their OTP that they do the passive-aggressive thing. For instance, the stuff that's going on in the Luke & Natasha thread over there right now. People who think LuNacy threatens LnL are talking about what a great pair Alexis and Luke would be. There's a lot of, "Well, if it can't be 'this,' then I'll take 'that' rather than 'what is.'" (For what it's worth, I think Alexis and Luke *would* be an interesting pairing, but that's mostly my desire to see them quit wasting NLG's amazing talent. I would be intrigued but I think it ultimately would not be as interesting as Luke and Tracy. Pair her with Jax, on the other hand, and I'd wager it'd smoke the screen up several times over.) At any rate, the more I lurk there, the more I like this happy little bubble. No desire for that kind of intense drama in my life - I watch GH for that. :)

Ah, fandom. If I ever go for a master's or doctorate, I'd love to study the anthropology of the its internal structures and habits.

  5. Um, wow, it's getting um.... heated... over at SOC, no?

I will never understand, from any side of the coin, people who want to harsh each others' squee. I don't understand people who aren't happy unless every other single person agrees with their opinion. Life's too short for that, and perspective gets way boring if everything is only seen in one POV.

    *waves at lurkers*

For what it's worth, I like Laura Spencer. And I like Luke and Laura as a couple.

I just like Tracy and Luke better. Why? Because at the end of the day, I think Luke is a FAR more interesting character now later in his life with some introspection and reflection over his life experiences. Luke hasn't led a charmed life and the mileage shows. And I think Tracy is the same way - they're both realists, cynical by experience and able to work the system to get what they need from life.

Laura is an eternal optimist. She's sunshine on a dew-filled morning, and it's what made her right for Luke in their younger years because it balanced his cynicism at a time when he had plenty of life ahead of him. Now, I just think that the core of who Luke is as a person would drag Laura down like a lead weight. He would eventually pull her under after trying to be something he's not, and it would be toxic to Laura's spirit. I'm not sure Scott is the right person for her either, mind you (even as much as I love Kin Shriner). I think Laura deserves to find out what Laura is without "Luke and Laura" defining her.

And for what it's worth, I believe Luke has already done that. The defining moment for him, I believe, was when Laura slipped back into the depths after their "second wedding." He truly mourned her *and* them at that point and moved on with someone who understands world-weariness as much as he does. Tracy gets every bit of his lack of trust in humanity and somewhere in the middle, they find a partnership that works.

Looking into the past would be a step back for Luke. And I LIKE what Luke is now - flaws and all.

    Well, OK, that got long.

  6. halee, thanks for the DOOL clip! LOL at WK's hair. Holy cow. That clip brought back some serious memories. That's back when I watched Days (middle school maybe?). I remember the first time I saw that WK had taken over the role of Ned on GH - it was quite an adjustment for me since the last time I saw him and JE on screen together, they were rolling around in bed. Hee!

And nex, as always, thanks for the clips from last week.

Incidentally, does anyone know of a good (hopefully free) program for editing down .wmv files? I have an .avi trimmer, but I can't seem to find a good utility for .wmv files. Any suggestions?

  7. some more scoops about the xmas episode I guess

Thanks. Got anything on the Quartermaines, Matt, Jax, Kate, Nik, Nadine, Maxie, Scrubs or Alexis?

    ~ Scrubbie

Tracy and Edward think Monica is high. That's the "gift" they think Spinelli gave her.

It may just be me, but this sounds hilarious.

So we get Tues Thurs next week? I'll probably watch the other days because the whole Maxie-Lulu thing is cracking me up bigtime. I've gotten to where I really enjoy watching Kirstin Storms and Julie Marie Berman play against each other - they have fantastic chemistry together.

  8. I want to apologize to you Star, for misunderstanding the intent of your post. I assumed that you were being smart@$$ writing something non-LuNacy in spoiler black to be sarcastic. You said you were doing it just to try it out, so now I get it. So again, I apologize for misreading your intent.

    Michelle

Honestly, no need to apologize. One of the dangers of posting online is not be able to see expressions and inflections and it's something we're all bound to do from time to time (word things in a way that can be easily misconstrued, that is). And while I do have the ability to be a complete smarta$$, trust me when I say that's not where I was going with all that. :)

At any rate, no harm, no foul. *hugs*

Edward, Tracy, Luke *and* Alan? Good day today.

(Hee! Takes me forever to post from my iPhone...)

  9. Listen, sweeties, no need to be condescending or sarcastic.

Last thing I wanted to do was offend or come off as sarcastic. I was just anxious to use the spoiler tag because I haven't before and I'm geeky like that. :) Sorry if it came off as disrespectful in the slightest as it was NOT my intent. You guys are an amazing and welcoming group and I hate to think something stupid said on my part would cause any grief.

And OMG, over the moon about the A/M thing. Too awesome.

  10. Robert and Anna are leaving together at Christmas.

Are you sure about this? TR has left several impressions that he's been approached for the next NS, and while I've seen hints that he and Anna will connect emotionally over Emma, I haven't seen anything that's said there will be a full out reunion. Given the end of NS2, it wouldn't surprise me, but surely we'd see something about it out there.

At any rate, I could see them letting the two sail off into the sunset together on NS in March simply because TR LOVED the environment and wasn't stifled by poor writing. I think he would better enjoy the venue because he'd actually be getting screentime on NS3 rather than little stolen minutes here and there on the mothership.

Um, used the spoiler stuff even though it's mostly speculation. And not at all LuNacy related. Heh.

  11. How was the run?

It was OK. I'm inherently slow, so I walked the 2.6 miles in 52:45. But I do it more to raise money for the organizations (this one was the Arthritis Foundation) and to get exercise. It was chilly but it turned into a gorgeous day, so kinda nice.

Of course, I'm sore all over now. And I negated the exercising by stopping to pick up breakfast from Waffle House on the way home. :)

There's a Top Chef marathon on Bravo right now and it's making me feel guilty for not cooking more often, especially right now. Maybe I'll bake some peanut butter cookies tonight.

ETA: Thanks, Ms. Q! Watching the clips now.

ETA again: OMG! Such fantastic chemistry in those clips, especially the last one. It's awesome to see the dance between those two.

  12. How are the season preparations going for the rest of you? Hooked and TL, Chanukkah istarts the 21st, right? Is that also Solstice this year?

Solstice is indeed Dec. 21 this year.

I haven't even started holiday preparations unless walking a 5K this morning called the Jingle Bell Run counts. Now I need a nap...

  13. Thanks for the praise for my fic. Glad y'all like my little scratchings. :)

I loathe when they cover up Jane's fantastic figure with all of that draping. I think she might actually like it, though, because she once borrowed one of those long coats for an appearance on Soap Talk. Don't get me wrong - she looks fabulous in whatever she wears, but I don't understand why they don't cut her loose from that look sometimes.

As for her hair, I like it when it has a bit of length to it. Or like now, when she has it starting to grow out and not so perfectly coiffed back. The wilder style looks pretty great on her, actually. My favorite hair of hers, though, was back when she was married to Paul. Something about that period of time just gave her such a soft appearance. Maybe to go with vulnerable Tracy. I dunno.

As for today and yesterday, it felt like buildup for tomorrow. Since I was under the impression we weren't going to have Tracy and Luke except on Tues-Wed-Thurs, it'll be a nice surprise to see if they left us a little something for tomorrow's ep, too.

  14. If we're bringing back Qs, my votes are for Dillon and Ned.

I *do* think it'll be interesting of the rumor about NL is true. After all, it was referenced that Paige had a sister that was not in her life anymore when they were looking for living heirs to take in Emily originally. So it could be a plausible scenario, maybe a long-lost cousin or some such. Wouldn't be the wackiest thing we've seen on daytime TV.

Hee! But then, I think it would be interesting to see them bring Michael back. SORASd, of course, and maybe without the center of his brain that likes or cares for or wants anything to do with Sonny, Carly and Jason. And then maybe he changes his name to Quartermaine...

    (I'm evil. I accept this.)

    Have I left anything out?

Oh, this is *so* my kinda place. Now you guys mentioned something about chats, too? Are those held regularly or just when the mood strikes?

My PhotoShop is MIA right now as my dad borrowed my disk when he was fixing my laptop crash and forgot to return it, but once I have the disk and reload it, I'll be making some icons and banners and things that I'll certainly share out with you guys. I live on LJ mostly, so I'll likely post them there and post a link. I write fic occassionally but haven't ever tried GH. And... well, I'm kind of in a writer's block right now but I'm hoping to work my way out of it. Maybe playing around with some GH fic or drabbles might do the trick.

  16. stargazer, some of us here have LuNacy clips. :) I will start you off with the Markham Islands story. You might have seen some of these scenes on YouTube already, not sure... FYI, once you click on the link, you will see a date and then a very brief description.

OMG, I LOVE YOU. Thank you SO MUCH!!! This place is the coolest. :)
